The opponents were, but I don't think the dates or the order (VMI or FIU first) were definite yet for the home games.

Macer commits to OU. http://highschoolsports.cleveland.com/news...hio-university/

I will defer to you guys on this, as I have only seen about 4 Zips games this year: Any chance we can take Quincy Diggs and put him on Cooper, at least in spurts. Obviously he does not have his quickness, but can his length and solid athleticism give us something there?

Did he ACTUALLY say: InfoCision Stadium - Summa Field is gorgeous and I can't wait to play in it. He REALLY referred to it as "InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field"? Or is that a bit of "artistic license" there? Welcome aboard, Vinnie R!

http://zipsnation.org/forums//index.php?showtopic=16047 Gives LOTS of info. Short answer is @ OSU, @ UC, vs. VMI (Virginia Military Institute) and vs. FIU (Florida International). Temple, Can't, Ohio and Central Michigan are the MAC home games (I believe).

It is bad to pull a scholly after a verbal is issued. That can hurt recruiting in the future. Agree completely. Hopefully this was not the scenario that played out with this kid.

Steve needs to set-up closer to the line. Games I have seen (CSU and Minnesota), he seems to be consistently setting up 2-4 feet behind the line. That is really lowering the % chance of a make.

http://recruiting.scout.com/2/1013486.html Might be the same video that ZTZ posted. Sorry if repetitive. Put on 17 lbs, so seems to be a solid 6-1, 6-2 and 222 lbs. Can't say I am "wowed" by his film, but it is rare that the average fan can take much from these films. He had some really good offers (SEC, Big 12, Big Ten) out of HS. And with some real game action against college players, certainlty puts him in good position to be a real challenge to Nicely. May the QB that works the hardest, is most prepared and most ready to win...win!!!

I married a female wife. But I am still sexist.

Well, Ianallo does like to take players away from their best position and put them somewhere else. Sorry, it was just too tempting! Seriously, though, nice get on that Cincy kid. Small, but beating out UC and at least 3 MAC schools is solid recruiting. I remember in a JD signing day press conference, some media dolt asked, "Why do you recruit so many RB's and QB's and then tell us they are going to play another position when they come to Akron." JD's response was "in high school, most of the time, you will find your best athletes on the team play RB & QB." D'Orazio was a one-man team. He was the starting QB, Safety, Kicker, Punter, and Return man in high school. I have said it before and I will say it again= this guy, if not stubborn about the QB thing, will be an all-MAC safety VERY early in his career. Whether you like or dislike the Buckeyes, if Steve Bellisari had played S instead of QB, he would have played a few years in the NFL as a safety/special-team "gunner".

Maybe they wanted to be nearest the team their brother plays for that doesn't completely suck in football. Like the Detroit Lions?

http://bostoncollege.rivals.com/barrier_no...p;mid=&rid= One leaves Florida, the other leaves Florida after leaving BC. Josh Haden was a very good RB at BC. Their brother= yeah, he plays for the Browns, top 10 pick, yadda, yadda, yadda... If they are going to go MAC, why not go to the school that is closest to where their brother plays? They have no ties to Ohio besides Joe Haden. Big time missed opportunity for Ianallo and the Zips.

Story on Moore. Looks to be a nice possibility. Originally committed to Ole Miss...getting an SEC "cast off" would certainly not be a bad thing! I like the possibilities of this QB situation: SR Rodgers JR Nicely and Moore SO Potts (if not moved to S) FR Pohl and D'Orazio (if not moved to S) Figure 1 guy with 1 year of eligibity, 2 guys with 2 years and, most likely, 2 guys being redshirted in Pohl and D'Orazio. I just hope that Moore would be given a chance to compete for the starting position.

Coverage on the front of the PD sports page and 3 pics and additional write-ups within the sports page. Sorry, but this is college soccer in the USA. This has absolutely NOTHING to do with Cleveland's coverage of Akron sports. It is sad that some on this site continue to want to divide the region instead of unify. Go Zips!!! National Champions!!!

Tough to get into Ws & Ls withot knowing the schedule. OOC= @ OSU, @ UC, probable FCS team and ? (I will guess Marshall or similar type program). OSU is a loss, FCS better be a win, UC is tough to figure but most likely a loss and if it is Marshall (or similar) a win is possible. MAC= who knows? Can't will be @ home, so very winnable. I would love to play Ball State, Buffalo and EMU as they all are winnable. Biggest thing for next year is finding WRs and Nicely improvement (or newfound QB). I think getting Alexander back at RB will help, and we have 3 starters on OL returning. Wagner on D, some young DBs who just have to improve. I watched my BC Eagles win 2, lose 5 and then win 5. They were led on offense in those last 5 games by a true frosh QB, two true frosh WRs, a true frosh RB who ran for 260 yards in final 2 games. On defense they had young DL, a true frosh and true soph at LB and patchwork DBs. My point: young guys CAN step up and make a difference.

Second round of conference expansion is beginning.

Facilities, TV market (NE Ohio is, I believe, 16th) and fertile recruiting grounds are what Akron has to offer. Of course, with that said, maybe they will look at Can't! -
I follow both the Zips and the Vikes as much as I can (I follow WAY too many college b-ball teams for various reasons). Watched the whole game (DVRd it). I think the simple difference right now is that CSU knows what it is, and Akron is still searching. CSU is all about Cole controlling the b-ball, scoring and getting the ball to Harmon and Montgomery for open looks. Tim K. is just a "dirty work" type player, and Pogue is SLOWLY developing. Anyone else contributing is a bonus, but CSU is all about that 3-guard offense. The Zips seemed to try and lean on Nik sometimes, Zeke sometimes, Roberts tried to take over for a little while and even McNees and Brett McL. tried to step it up. But nothing was consistent. They really lack an identity right now, and a true go-to player or 2. I know KD's teams do not have that 15+ pt scorer or 2, but they still find an indentity. Once they establish their identies and their roles, they will be fine. I still see a lot of talent and possibilities for the Zips.

Bring in the Wing T as well!!!!

Great post...and "Rudy". I will also be @ ND this weekend. Probably seeing as bad of a blowout as I have seen at Info!!!

I wonder what we would have seen on fan boards from Temple and Miami (if they exist!) when those teams were at their depths. I have mentioned it before...Miami was 1-11 last year with a 1st year coach. They now stand at 5-4 in year 2. Temple was horrible for so long before Golden. I have seen what you have seen= team looks bad, unmotivated at times, QB situation remains a mystery (not even 1 shot for Rodgers), etc. But, maybe it is true...maybe our WR do lack talent, OLine is incredibly untalented/lacking in depth, defensive backfield is just bad, etc. Even if you look at the Browns/Mangini...and I know NFL and FBS are not the same...Mangini started 1-11 here, and is since 7-5. If Ianallo continues to suck it up into the middle of next year, I will be all aboard the kick this guy as far as possible. But considering where we are, where we have been and the reality of the situation, I am not going to say there is NO CHANCE this guy cannot succeed here.

I agree on your predicted Owls scoring... Owls 48 Zips 00

Is this where I make my prediction? Anywho, I actually think we might find a way on Saturday... UA 23 WMU 20

Well, guess we need to go after his brother with everything we got. According to Rivals, we finally offered him. Interestingly, it seems that both Zack and Cole visited Wyoming at the same time but only Cole verbaled. In all honesty...this is a college kid that might very well know his place in college football (lower FBS or FCS) and wants to go somewhere far from home and a place that is different from where he grew up/might very well live the rest of his life. I actually prefer him going to Wyoming over a MAC school NOT named Akron for various reasons.
