Very good! The brickwork shown on the rendering posted near the field looked really nice. If something like this were to be adopted at UA, it would dovetail nicely with the look of the Info and the overall campus IMHO.For those that haven't seen it...*edit: what michigan is doing (2200 seats)

Um ok, unless he broke it walking down stairs since he's been back on campus, I highly doubt this.

Nice self promotion

After watching highlights of this year....
g-mann17 replied to timmyboy's topic in Akron Zips Football
If you watch that video you will realize it was the 20 good plays that Ohio had, in a 19-7 victory that should very well have been a loss if not for Turnover Machine # 5. It was put together by Ohio, to make Ohio look good. It wasn't a game highlight video, it was an Ohio highlight video. If you are going to say you watched "highlights" of the season and "came to a conclusion" make sure you actually watch the films that show every play that Akron had, not just the ones that Ohio wants it's recruits to see.Talk about an uninformed opinion. -
Just don't stop believing this football season can turn around.Just remember that the wheel in the sky keeps turning and eventually this team can be any way you want it. When we look into the future we will be asking the rest of the MAC who's crying now?Hopefully we'll all be accepting the new coach with open arms and after all these years we will finally have someone who can lead us where we want to go and perform faithfully for the university. There, I've done it, I'm done, that is the last Journey thing I can do.Oh yes and Steeeeeeeeve Perry!!!

Wow, you have more problems than I ever thought.

This is not true nor is the campus built on an old cemetery. It is true...

What's better than quarterback?A greenback?

Captain Kangaroo should like this one. Even when we win the greatest game in program history, we create reasons for why we really should not have.We back-doored into the 2008-9 MAC basketball championship too. Humpty got lucky...we should have lost to the 12-seed. Right?I guess so.....I don't agree, but it seems to be the prevailing wisdom on the board, which is why GP1 goes the other way when it comes to prevailing wisdom on sports boards. Maybe we need to the start of any critical comment now on the basketball board with, "I love KD and even though he backed into that championship last year (insert criticism)".We didn't back into either championship...We were fortunate for sure...but we won fair and square. JD won 5 MAC games and then all the tie-breakers. No other MAC East team won more so how is it "backing in"? It happens in the NFL every year. These are great points. And maybe someone should teach the prevailing wisdom here what it means to be a winner.Winning a Championship = Winner, Winning more games than you lose = Winner, Losing more games than you win = Loser.Fact is we found a way that year to beat NIU twice. The year before we were bowl eligible but they picked Marshal over us. (two years of winning). Nobody can go undefeated every season, but for the love, we have to get a football program to the point where a bad year is .500 over all, or 5-3 in our conference. The abysmal conference play is what is driving me nuts. You are going to lose here and there but 3-8 over the last one and half seasons? Really?!

Will we win another game this season?
g-mann17 replied to scottditzen's topic in Akron Zips Football
my life sucks...I think I will bash the kids on the football team today because it might make me feel better even though I have no clue what the heck I am talking about...yeah thats what i will do because my life completely sucks and because I am such a winner I will continue to bash and stomp the team because my number of post listings increase my stature as a zips basher and it will show the world I am one step away from actually jumping from the Y bridge, but thank god i have zips nation to express true negativity throughout the world....i only wish more positive people read my post so i can bring them down to my low level of life!!!!RUMPLEMINTZ - You are on ZipsNation, but maybe you need to spend some time on -Spend some time on Prozac or her?............I think either one is likely to put you in a better mood -
Never agreed with you more. The alumni thing is probably one of the biggest things that needs to be fixed. Too many people graduate and quickly forget about the school. (and this isn't a "only root for the Zips" rant) I don't care who else any of the alumni want to root for, but take some pride in the University. They contact you about money, give them at least 25 bucks and skip a night out for a week. Go to at least one game a year. Write the AD about what you like and don't like. They are praying for that kind of contact right now, it means that there are people who want to see success. Bottom line (and it's preaching to the choir because obviously people on here care) but we need alumni support. So if you have season tickets for you and your wife leave her home the last two games of the season (you're doing her a favor cause it will be cold anyway) and take a former college buddy that hasn't been paying attention lately. As for injuries, they suck, but I don't remember a year in the past 9 that we haven't had some injury. That's not curse, that's just the way football is. (if anything, I would argue, because of the new rules designed to "protect" players there are actually more injuries) I hope Bowser heals up and at least has a chance to show a little something to an NFL team for chances at an Undrafted Free agent opportunity. I think he could be a slot in the NFL if he can learn to relax and catch the ball on normal routes.

I think it's the way the game should be played. Also it is called if they grab the face mask and drag the defender. There are already too many "it's too dangerours" BS penalties like Horse Collars, Helmet to Helmet, etc...Of course helmets are going to touch, and they already made leading with the helmet a penalty a long time ago (spearing), so if defenders were leading with their head into another head, that is still spearing and you call it.

We are over a third of the way through the season. We started with 4 QB's now we have 2, so yes they are that bad. If something were to happen we could end up being down to 1.Now you know why they recruited Potts, and Dorazio (spelling). You have to keep 4-5 QBs on your team in case something bad happens like this season. They have no choice but to look for an emergency walk-on. You can only play people who are currently enrolled in the school.

The problem there is that 7 years after Ohio Stadium opened, Black Thursday happened.Yeah and? prior to that (and during the time frame mentioned) it was the roaring 20's people had tons of money to spend.

Akron Zips vs Buffalo Bulls Prediction Thread
g-mann17 replied to Dr Z's topic in Akron Zips Football
Zips 21Bulls 14Since neither one of us can kick a freaking field goaledit* Also since we don't have TOM#5 (turnover machine) running around getting sacked throwing picks and fumbling all over the place, I just think we have a much better chance. (Get well Matt) -
And two spots higher than the Illini

Week #7 MAC Football Picks from VanDelay
g-mann17 replied to IBleedMACGreen's topic in Akron Zips Football
Wow, some rise with Turner Gill, they get a championship the same we did, and then underperform the same way we did. If Buffalo beats us 34-16 as predicted, than JD needs to be fired before he gets back to Akron. -
On a nationwide scale, and in Idaho, I agree with you.But in NEOhio, where you're engrained (sp?) from birth to be a tOSU fan, because it's "Ohio's team", because it's "What we do", it's a different culture. You even mention another Ohio school to a board full of honks and you get annihilated and called stupid. This is the culture I'm referring to.tOSU could go 2-10 and charge $300 a seat and still draw 80,000 every week. Ak could run the table, blow the crap out of OSU and WIsconsin and two other BCS teams, and you bring them up and 99% of the state will say "Arkon? Seriously dude? They'll never be anybody." "Get that crap out of here, you got lucky. We were looking PAST you to a real opponent."And they won't show up of you paid them to (unless you showed the tOSU game on the screen). That's IMHO what Akron is up against in gaining respect. This generation, who's been burned by the Browns for 20 years, and go 150 miles south to compensate for it, needs to die off before the culture will change.I normally save this for GP1 but...WRONG!The fact is, Ohio front runs. For historical reference find out how many people were Michigan, FSU, or Miami fans in the 80's and 90's. Look at the odd number of Steelers fans that are popping up since 99.Ohio goes with the winner, it's always been that way, it will always be that way. Right now if OSU were to lose a couple of games, and Cinci keeps winning, watch how much Bearcat merchandise you start seeing. The "general fan" as you are so keen to talk about, roots for the winner, and that is it. It doesn't matter if it's Cinci, Boise St, Ohio St they root for who wins. (But don't win too much or be smug about it, because then you draw the "haters" ask Lebron and Tebow about that)*edit: you are right about the attendance at OSU however, but that is because they have roughly a million + living alumni that care about the university, so yes they would still have large crowds

It has to do with assignment. Watch the "extra" guy that they bring into the "box" and tell me how many times you see him make a play anywhere near the line of scrimmage. Then watch a 3-4 defense and watch the same thing. It is very easy to game plan against it. That's why nobody plays it.That's why nobody plays what? The 3-3-5 or the 3-4?
-
 If any of the three of them see the field at UA, I'd consider it a bonus. It's just as likely that I'll be named our head coach as it is that Henderson will ever play here. Why wouldn't Hoobler see the field?

I didn't hear a thing,

Maybe we need more Timken graduates then. They are already fruit bearing trees.
-
*slow clap*Those are very good points
-
At least they are willing to ask, unlike the old guy and his fat wife that sit behind me, ugh are they annoying.Matt Rodger's fumbles into the endzone..."What did I miss?" "I think he got 'picked off'" really?, really? watch the freaking game you loud mouth morons.

Nice talking to you.I will probably lure that lurker equins out; but, it's not who you beat, it's that you win. When YSU wins they sell out, and they play much less recognized opponents then we do. I honestly say it's about winning. Right now. If we were even .500 right now (impossible with 5 games being played I know) we would have attendance above 20,000. The outlook of the team is so bleak to casual fans and students that no they aren't going to come out and spend time, I don't care how great the facility is, or great the tailgaiting and pre-game are. To put things in perspective, they (the athletic department) gave a low ball estimate on attendance for this season being just over 18 thousand27,881; 17,882; 16,230 averages out to be 20664. If they want to hit that goal though, they had better show that they can win some games. (Can't will still probably be over 17, but we will see).
