Look, I watched Sparks go down, and saw a freshman come in.I feel much more comfortable watching this frosh behind the line than I ever felt with Frye back there, and look what Frye accomplished. (several of you think he was worthless but we did have 2 winning seasons with him at the helm)

Pretty sure we should be above every 0 for team just on principle. But yeah we should be one of the bottom 4.
-
No but we could attribute it to the fact that we had unprecedented season ticket sales following our first ever MAC Championship and D-1 Bowl appearance. What we would really need to see is what the 2004 homecoming attendance was (1-4 start) and compare those numbers. We had 27 thousand for Morgan state17,881 for Indiana. Of those missing 10,000 at least 4500 were students. The other 5500 were casual fans, who had the option of paying 20 bucks to see us or 30 to go see OSU play in Cleveland, which do you think they would pick in general? Then we had 16 thousand for homecoming as we had just gotten publicly spanked two weeks in a row. What do you really expect?Ask Can't how 10 dollar tickets are working out for them (our worst attendance was still better than their best attendance) and they have a couple of wins. The bottom line is this, you lose, the faithful show up, you win (consistantly) and everyone else shows up, and they won't care much about the ticket price.Get those 4500 students back and homecoming breaks 20 thousand. Student attendance has zippo to do with ticket price. It has to do with campus organizations and a sense of school pride. (pride comes from winning)

I'm not surprised either, but I had hoped the "stadium effect" would have lasted more than 1 game.Since this was a homecoming crowd, at 16k, and you brought up the Rubber Bowl, I decided to take a look at the last few homecoming crowds for comparison.2008 - BG - 17,119 (same time of year, and also the 3rd home game) 2007 - Temple - 14,017 (same time of year, also 3rd home game) 2006 - Miami - 17,721 (a little later in October, and 2nd home game) I don't know. It sure looks like this year was a "typical" homecoming crowd, new stadium or not. And those were all losing seasons too. I had sure hoped for a much larger crowd. What were the records going into those games?I know for BG it was 3-4.Without looking everything up again, I know we at least had the road loss @ Wisconsin, and the 2 home losses to Ball State and Cincinnati before homecoming in 08.In 06, I know we had 4 losses, just like this year, because it was that dissapointing year right after the title where we played good in a loss at Penn State, and upset NC State, only to lose 3 more @ Central, @ Can't, and @ Cincy prior to the homecoming game.2008: 3-42007: 3-32006: 2-4

And here I thought I was the only one who noticed that.I think Rasor took the honor part of "Love, honor, and obey" a little too seriously.

Quote from an OU grad friend of mine that went to the game..."Wow, those are two lousy teams to watch play football. Very nice stadium."Sometimes your defensive success is a direct reflection of the offensive effort that it is up against. Wagner rulz! I think we have the ability to be a better defense if...sorry, I just can't type it anymore.Hmm, well apparently BGSU must be even worse. I mean what they have up 30+ points to them, what defense do they run?Actually...Ohio rang up 44 points on BGs defense. And they run a 4-3.Still proves my point. Everyone says "how awful" Ohio is, we held their offense to 12 points. With our "crappy" 3-3-5. Yet a 4-3 gives up 44 (thanks for the correction ).Schemes don't matter talent does. Our crappy 3-3-5 went 6 quarters without giving up a score, 7 without giving up a touchdown. Then we suffer through 8 quarters of completely inept quarterbacking (starting from the second half of the IU game) giving up the ball at least 8 times and wonder why we get humped.I don't know if you read my post wrong or not, but I know the point you were trying to make, and was agreeing with you, and supporting your point by pointing out how badly OU's offense destroyed BGs 4-3 defense.I did, And I know what you were saying, I just wanted to add even more emphasis to it. Maybe if people read it enough, they will finally get it. Learning through repetition.

To a large extent I agree...regular ticket prices should not be lowered. I just think the pricing should be different for youth than for adults, which will in turn get more money and fill more seats.Where are football ticket prices different for adult and children? If I want to two tickets to a Browns game it doesn't matter if it's a kid or not. I'm just asking, not trying to fight, I've never heard of it for football. For the record, cheapest UCF ticket is $25. Tulsa is $15 (endzone berm)Delaware (FCS) is 20 but has a 12 dolalr kid ticket.

Very bold prediction, and I believe nearly all of it (or at least I want to).One stat for everyone: JD's record vs. MAC East opponents since 2005: 10-11

I believe it was stated that the home opener surpassed all of last year for concession sales. So every game after that is just "mo' money, mo' money, mo' money!"*edit: I like to keep my analysis simple

Hmmm, looks like I said play Rodgers to preserve the redshirt and that Nicely had better be being prepared since Rodgers was already slight injured.I still say the original plan was play Jacq, get Matt reps to see where he is, and let Nicely and Rodgers duke it out in the spring. Jacq f'd up the plans.I knew Nicely was better (or at least had to be), it's just a shame Rodgers had to get hurt in the process.

I agree whole heartedly with you. A movie costs 10 dollars, popcorn 7.50. It costs between 2-4 dollars to rent a movie for an evening. Why do you (anyone, not GP1) think it should only cost 10 dollars or less to go watch a football game? They bring up Can't a lot in those comments. Can't offers 2 for 10. Yeah that's because they have historically been a 1-11 team with almost no chance of doing anything, playing at the second best stadium in Portage county (Ravenna stadium is much nicer). As far as the "students not paying attention" the students don't pay, they can be doing origami for all I care as long as when the rest of the students around them shout they shout. Hell there are plenty of season ticket holders doing the same thing (and two of them that sit behind me that barely even know what just happened). These are the people showing up for the social aspect, and that is what we want. You want the stadium and campus to be the "place to be" on a game day. The only thing I didn't like was the "premium" pricing, and they should drop that before the Can't game, but other than that there is nothing wrong with GA being $15.

For the record the "3-3-5 pattycake" only allowed 12 points to be scored on it, despite 5 turnovers and the fact that the team came in averaging 28 points a game. That means that our players are playing at a high level. Imagine if they had a system conducive to consistintly performing against all types of offensive attack.Or imagine that it doesn't matter what the defense is, it's about players being in the right place during plays. During the CMU game they used a lot of misdirection when they ran, plus accounting for LeFevour, our guys over pursued. They went back and preached playing your area and all the times that OU tried reverses and misdirection, it got shut down. They corrected for the option at a half-time and that got shut down in the second half.If defensive scheme mattered then there would be one defensive scheme. But there are many 4-4, 5-2, 4-3, 3-4, 3-3-5, 42. Why? Because athletes very from team to team. We have a ton of talented tweeners, the 3-3-5 gets the most athletes on the field. Do I think we could run a 3-4? Yes, we have the speed at linebacker, but no way can we run a 4-3.Anyway, I digress, this is supposed to be about injuries. As far as I know Rodgers - ACL, and Sewell walked off on his own feet.

Hey mods! Can we make this Can't thing a regular smiley? I really like it. (if there is some sort of trademark issue I understand)

We have 11 running backs, Tuzze, Allen, Martin, Shuford, Torrence, Dawson, Burney, Cope, Alexander, Pride, Morefield

A new shrine on Ken+'s campus

So why haven't they officially changed the mascot to the Black Squirrels? "Fear the nut biters" -
Actually, the team has moved forward in many ways, especially in the talent department. Once JD is gone we should all feel optimistic about the future. The right guys will be on the field and they will be put in a better position to win. That's the good news. The bad news is there are still several games left to suffer through this season. The Zips are suffering through a bad case of mismanagement and that is more easily corrected than a case of no talent. After this season, I will be very optimistic about the Zips near future in the MAC. There is no reason we can't be the best team in a bad conference. The talent is there, the management is not. That is absolutely the most postive comment I've ever seen from you.Where is the real GP1 and what have you done with him?

Some of that is based on the player. Just like any other medical issue it is 100% private, so it is up to the player to give the ok to the staff to release the information. The Bain issue last year had more to do with the appeal than anything else. As soon as the final appeal was defeated by the NCAA they let us know the situation. But a good coach is not going to come out and say "Our player was accused of using a banned substance, we are appealing." Why? Because look at this board, as soon as anything remotely negative happens, people think and create the worst. They tell us that last year, 3 days later someone is on here claiming to be the guy that sold Bain the HGH (which he didn't use by the way it was an OTC product from GNC which has since been pulled).

Ok I believe that this is the weekend that the pretenders (OU and Can't) get exposed for what they are.First, OU has beaten Cal Poly, North Texas, and BGSU. Cal Poly was an 18 pt win over a FCS school that is now 2-2North Texas was an overtime win against a team that is now 1-3 (with the win coming over the second worst performing team in the country)BGSU was a shoot out with a few things that went Ohio's way, ending up in a 7 point win BGSU is 1-4.The point being is that OU can score points, we saw it last year, but they are spotty and inconsistant. Rodgers has had almost a month to acclimate to being the QB. That is almost as much time as we have prior to the first game of the season and the defense has had a chance to heal.My prediction, we finally get to see a run game (break through for Tuzze and Torrence), they let Rodgers have more leash as he is now more familiar with the "on the fly" play calling. The healthy DB's step up and make some plays.Akron 30Ohio 24(oh and since I mentioned it BGSU 45 Black Squirrels 13)

It now comes in a variety of colors, so they could have matched it to anything.

We expect a football coach to know 100% of the rules that affect the world in which he operates. He was a major player in recruiting, he has to know the recruiting section of the NCAA rules. Besides look at the Ohio Revised Code, no person can no every law in there, but if you violate one you are still subject to the punishment indicated therein.Additionally the language in the NCAA rules and regulations may only be "fit for a lawyer" but I can assure you that the compliance personnel for the athletic department have those rules that pertain to a given job broken down into lay-man's terms. I have nothing against Reno, I was surprised and dismayed that he stepped down. But no one knows what the University's internal rules are in regards to violation of NCAA Policy.
