The Cleveland Sports Commission needs to stay out of college football period. Bad timing for the game and poor advertising are the reasons for the lackluster attendance.

I've heard how that is made, cold filtered over a fat-non-college-educated-lives-in-Barberton-with-no-true-loyalty-to-the-school-other-then-the-thought-that-scarlet-and-gray-looks-pretty-Buckeye Fan's taint for a naturally smooth refreshing sweaty buck nut flavor "Taste the nuts, Buck Nuts Ale!"

I would settle for it being a selectable choice at the stadium. But somehow I doubt that Thirsty Dog has the millions to buy the "rights" to be the stadium beverage. We will end up with Coors or Budweiser

For those of you not keeping up, they have said from the get go that half of the value of the stadium would be financed using bonds. So this is not new news. It's old news. Also for the "21 million in donations" not moving up. Until they have the money and not just a committment from people they are not going to announce additional donations.

Apparently Mack is not putting up with losing mentalities and is cleaning house. Ohio.com article

I was assured that season ticket holders will get priority choices. How tenured you are as a season ticket holder will also play a part. With the longest tenured ticket holders getting the earliest selections. Considering the miniscule number of season ticket holders, anyone wanting season tickets at the new stadium can easily become a season ticket holder next season and still get a prime selection of seats.

the Nemer brothers are going to make Uof A pay for the Sun GrillThe court is going to make them both sorry they didn't take UA's first offer.

From what I have seen, the only problem property for the stadium is The Odd Corner. Since all the renderings show one of the two ticketing gates sitting right on the corner of Brown and Exchange. This also appears to be where the public team shop would be located. The vast majority of the stadium and prep work (including the grading of the land for the recessed field) can probably be completed with out The Odd Corner being touched. But it will eventually have to go.

Next year is next year, we don't know anything about the status of how any team will be. But I will say this, Cuse was 2-10 this year, worse than anyone in the MAC. Cinci loses Mauck the only reason the team even contended this year, and potentially Kelley (yes his name is up for bigger better schools because he lucked out by getting Mauck) they also lose 4 top seniors. So I say we don't start throwing away games until next season even starts. We have a few QB's to look at, position changes that need made and recruits that still have to committ. So before we go and say "1-3 for OOC next year" why don't we wait and see what happens the rest of this year.

At least Bryan Williams is kicking some butt.

Ok typical shoddy ESPN coverage then.

"Dan LeFevour pass intercepted by Chris Jacquemain at the Akron 0, returned for no gain to the Akron 20."Is this a sign of things to come? Can Chris play some defense? Or was this another 11?

I can't tell you all the differences between the run and shoot and the spread, but one of the bigger differences is that there a lot more plays in the spread that come out of the shotgun. As for the 3-3-5 vs the nickel, well the nickel is just a designation for a 5 defensive back set. This typically reflects your base defense, a 4-3 team will lose a linebacker and add a cornerback to the set. So they will essentially be running a 4-2. In a 3-4 you again lose a linebacker but it will resemble more of a 3-3-5. The major difference being that in both instances you are adding a corner in hopes of being able to man up against a slot receive while in a 3-3-5 you have 2 corners, 2 strong safeties and a free safety in your base defense.

All I am saying is that you can schedule 8 teams ranked 1-8. You lose those games, and still win the rest (going off last season's 26-7, then you are still a 20+ win team). You fail to win the MAC Tournament. You know where you are?You are still missing the dance, because you play in the MAC and that's a 1 ticket conference. The risk/reward is zero. Even if you squeek out a win in one of those 8 games, the chance of you being rewarded with a NCAA Bid is incredibly slim.So if you are going to try and schedule big teams, you had better make your reward high. Which means making them play you at home. To increase your local fan base, local media attention, and revenue stream. Oh and, chances of winning since the JAR would make any Major extremley claustrophobic.

How did losing to Duke help Can't last year with their tournament chances? Hmm....I'm sorry but I agree with KD's decision to not play a team unless they get a home game in return.

In case you missed this great insight into the coaching situation..."Are there changes in store for Akron? If so who?""Well the HC will bought out of his contract, which will nearly bankrupt the program.""That doesn't sound good, how will they find a replacement.""Well no problem, they are going to hire a coach from Patterson Park Pee Wee, and they already have an OC lined up.""They do? Any further information on that.""Oh yes, it will be g-mann17's right nut, they tried to get his left nut but it had already committed to coaching at Notre Dame next year. Expect less lateral play calling as g-mann17's right nut knows that the end zone is just that a zone at the end of the field. Other wise it would be called a side zone."

Yes let's go and schedule, Purdue, Duke, and Ohio State. Also let's schedule Georgetown, UConn, and Memphis. Now...Let's all wake up. No high RPI team is going to play us for two reasons. We will expect at minimum a 2 and 1 (3 year deal), and there is a chance they could be upset. That is a lose, lose, lose situation for any team that has a respectable RPI. They will avoid top Mid Majors (which despite the lack of a tournament bid last year, this team is quickly becoming) because then they lose the status quo. Oh I forgot there is a third reason. We have an arena that barely holds 5500 people, and poor quality facilities overall (locker rooms etc). What is best, is that we find a way to get to the dance, and then make some noise. Then we become a team that has to be played.

Well, it's often hard to see what is going on around you when your head is stuffed fully up your arse. Which is typical of most sports fans in the area. They only pay attention to what is spoon fed to them (ala OSU is great)The punchline to the whole story would have been if you asked the joker "where did you go to college?" -

Sorry but I have to agree with the Cap on this one.Moving the wagon wheel game away from the two stadiums is a complete joke. Think about this for a second. Dix is a 5 minute drive from Summit County. Same as the Rubber Bowl from Stark. So now you are saying move the game to Cleveland which is a non-busy hi-way 35 minute drive from either county. Except, the hi-ways are never not busy. So you can count on less people going because they don't want to deal with the mess that is Cleveland. For what? To squeeze and additional 5-10,000 people in. It's not the Michigan OSU game (that makes me ill to my stomach even bringing that up). We aren't going to pack CBS. We have never both been up at the same time and we barely fill the current stadiums for the Wagon Wheel game. The only reason any MAC school should be using CBS is for the Patriot Bowl, or to entice a "home" game against major power so that the attendance average is boosted. It's more important to get people on campus and see the improvements to the University then to play in a large cavernous stadium.
