There a lot of blame to go around. Starting with Guthrie for scheduling this game, then the staff for not taking him out earlier/helping out the RT who was getting beat pretty quickly every play.
I dare you to spend even 1 day in Guthrie's shoes. There is huge pressure on Athletics to reduce expenses or increase revenue. Most of these money games have been scheduled years in advance. The OSU game represented an opportunity to make some cash. With the realignment going on, these games are going to disappear. A more sane schedule starts next year.

The scoreboard not being ready by the home opener would be absolutely inexcusable.
The scoreboard will absolutely be functional for the home opener. Whether the video board is working has nothing to do with the actual game. Be thankful that UA figured out a way to find the money to replace the old one. 1st world problem here.

In comparison ohio stadium has a analog scoreboard with video board also.I think once they finish it should look great.
By rule, scoreboards have to use analog for timing and scoring.

That new board is going to look really nice. I just wish they would have gone all-out and filled over the analog scoreboard space with video board too. That's still going to look outdated.

It's a blight. Casinos are the end result of public officials who are intellectually incapable of figuring out how to develop urban areas.
Politicians always go for the low hanging fruit.

By that I guess you mean the Zips will have to play Ohio, Toledo, Kent, Miami, BG, CMU twice.
Close to that. Also some difficult travel situations.

Schedule should be released tomorrow. As usual, the MAC will be doing us no favors in the conference schedule.

I am not sure if this article......about January 2024 addition Maximus Barboto....had ever been posted here
He ditched playing for his dad to join the Zips! Another good pickup by Embick.

I had not previously heard anything about the transfer from LIU......
sounds very encouraging...
A native of Bolton, England, Emil Jaaskelainen, a forward arrives at Akron following a distinguished career at Long Island where he was a four-time All-NEC selection, three-time All-Region honoree and a two-time NEC Player of the Year. He garnered United Soccer Coaches All-Region accolades for the third consecutive campaign a season ago and was named to the Hermann Trophy Watch List en route to being invited to the adidas MLS College Showcase. As a freshman, he was selected as the NEC Rookie of the Year. He capped his career at Long Island registering 43 goals, 14 assists, 100 points and 15 game-winners on the strength of 275 shots, including 129 on net.
This is why the roster was not released until today. He is a direct replacement for Shooky(maybe better). A gamechanger for the team. Big get for Embick.

There is still a good possibility that he could end up on the roster. By signing this contract he can now participate in all team events and training.

Right now all the new players are going through the compliance process. If they can not get eligible, they will move on.

The football budget dwarfs any other sport at Akron. The only thing lacking in football is winning games.

There were several panel discussions at the reunion dinner tonight. One of them featured Len Paul, Steve McNeese, Eric McLaughlin and Bob Huggins. There was another group that included Jim Tressel, Bud Wentz and Charles Guthrie. The final group was John Groce and Enrique Freeman. Joe Dunn was the moderator and interviewed the panelists. There will be another reunion on July 26, 2025. Mark your calendars now.

Can’t make the open practice 😕 Someone please give a detailed account! 🙏🙏
They had a short scrimmage. Harris looked great. Young will give Tavari a good push for the point guard spot. Gray is a bull of a basketball player.

Today's ribbon cutting ceremony is open to anyone who wants to attend. Please park in lots 8, 9 or 10. There will be a practice session starting at 3:30 and the ribbon will be cut at 4:30. I would imagine some of the former players will be in attendance.

About which there has been little detail that I've seen except how much tickets/tables are. 🙄
The dinner tomorrow night will feature many former players and coaches. Bob Huggins, Jim Tressel and Enrique Freeman just to name a few. Several players are flying in from overseas to attend. Keith Dambrot will hopefully be there if he can clear a few items off his schedule. This event is being run by alumni, not the athletic department. Guthrie agreed to help the organizers with some marketing and to secure the venue. The only official athletic department event is today's ribbon cutting ceremony for the new practice facility that starts at 3:30 pm. There are currently 220 people registered for tomorrow night's dinner.
There is also a reception being held tonight at Prime Vine Winery. Please RSVP before arriving.
Again, other than the ribbon cutting, all events are being run by alumni, not athletics.

The LED nodes are being installed this week. Testing will commence shortly after. The board should be operational for the home opener.
