I’ll take them for the Toledo game!
I'll be back in town for that one!

Groce did a good job explaining that our OOC schedule this season features some of the best mid-major programs this season. Ark St, St Mary's, N Kentucky and Milwaukee are all predicted to be March madness contenders. Sit back and enjoy the ride. By March we will be there too.

Don't get your hopes up. Emu is playing for a bowl. Akron is running out the string. Akron is Kent level bad at this point. Emu blows them out. Give up the 2.5 and bet your house on it.
Hope you didn't follow your own advice.

In order to keep Finley next season I’ve heard they’re going to make him player-coach, at half of Joe’s salary. A shrewd, outside-the-box way to circumvent the lack of NIL funds by Guthrie.
So far, the only MAC football team with NIL is BG. Someone from outside the university would have to get one started for the Zips.

Since the advent of NIL and the portal, the inmates now run the asylum. Especially at the lower rung programs.

The Emoni Bates era is just about to take off in CLE as well.
Bates just had knee surgery. It looks like he might be out for a while.

One thing you can always count on from the members of sports message boards is Monday morning quarterbacking. I think on the subject of the relationship between the athletic department and Joe Moorhead we lead the league.

I think Finley thought Newel was going to stop and turn on that route.

UA Alumni are holding a "Renew Your Wedding Vows" Ceremony in Lot #10 prior as part of their Homecoming festivities on Saturday. They offered a first come first served 8 spots beginning around 11:00 am for alumni couples (5 minutes per couple). So the wife and I are taking a 30 minute break from normal tailgating to do it. Should be fun. Interesting note - the Zips got beat by BGSU on our wedding day 31 years ago. I recall it was 35-0 at he half. I was listening to Dunn and French on my Walkman as the church was filling up.
Hard to believe it's been 40 years since our first date. I don't have an actual date photo, but era-wise it feels like this one is close enough.
That guy in the photo is your doppelganger!

Not baseless character assassination but mindful observation of his interactions with self and others. Never mind a number of his peers refer to him as Chuckles (clown). But, please continue to live in your fantasy world.
My point is, claiming that Guthrie's ego is preventing him from firing Moorhead is not true. I know you don't like him and that is your right.

Whatever you say Ms. Guthrie! Stick up for your MAN!
Lol I'll stand by my record on this forum since the day it was created. It's one thing to second guess a decision made by the AD or any other person employed by UA past or present, but it's never ok to make baseless character assassinations. But hey, ain't the internet great!

The AD is far too prideful to admit this hire did not work out and it's not all going according to the plan. He will not fire Moorhead, because he has one of the biggest Ego's you'll ever come in to contact with. Speaking from experience and ask anyone else in Athletics.
Unless you or someone you know has $1 million+ sitting around somewhere unused to fund a contract buyout, the HC is not going anywhere unless he decides to resign and forego the remainder of his contract. The rest of your post is a bunch BS.

I'd like to take some credit for this one. I have taken my wife to a number of Zips games (soccer, football, basketball) and the Zips have lost every single one. We were supposed to go to the Georgetown game but went out of town at the last minute. You're welcome. 🤣
Way to take one for the team!

i thought Frontier was long gone from Akron/Canton. my nephew is a captain at Frontier, use to stay with me instead of going to motel with flight crew. Then i would take him to his next day departing flight.
It was a charter

They flew down on a charter from Akron/Canton. Frontier A-330. Nice hotel in Columbia. Team buses had a bad-ass police escort from the hotel to the stadium. 3 motorcycle cops and a state trooper. Big time experience for the guys!

Here we are again, another season of empty stands and losing football games.
8,900 fans paid their way into the Dialer to be entertained. 8,900 fans according to the program (and you know they’re always accurate with that). As I’ve said for years, in the middle of a football hotbed.
Meanwhile down Rt. 21 there’s a high school football program that draws 8,000 fanatics per game. A routine game. For big games, this city of 32,000 sells over 12,000 tickets. My high school football coach took us to watch a Massilon game.
We’ve fired AD’s and coaches, built new training and work out facilities, whatever. I don’t know if I’m going back this year.
Massillon fans are rabid. It's in their DNA.

More Cuts coming to Akron ...

It's a business, not a charity. There are departments that have very few students and cost millions to operate. And don't try to equate athletics to this. By virtue of accounting methods, athletics is in a different place. They get charged full rate for every scholarship but get zero credit back for every athlete paying their own way.
