  1. OK everyone, please pay close attention to what I' about to tell you. The magic # is 30. When we have $30 million in funding ground will be broken. Right now we have $17 million and counting. Total cost of the stadium$60 million. Anther $45 million for dorm space, classroom space and retail space. The $45mil will be financed through student fees. The stadium will be located near the fieldhouse between Spicer and Brown, fronting Exchange. The final plans have been approved. It will take 1 year to complete the project. All the other ideas about domes and span the tracks are nice, but the reality is this. its not going to be a palace but it will be ON CAMPUS! :macc:
  2. Chriss Wells is looking great in todays ARMY highschool all star game on NBC. He has scored both of the east's touchdowns.
  3. Troll!!!!! :macc:
  4. I think you have it backwards my friend. The main reason the Indians were winners in the 90's was the NEW stadium. The additional revenue generated by people coming to check out the new digs was what made the higher payrolls possible.
  5. I thought the Zips fans made a great showing yesterday. Even though we didn't win it was a great experience. All I can think about is doing it again. Also the Memphis fans we met were wonderfull. They were very gracious winners and have had nothing but nice things to say about our team and fans. I could get used to this type of excitment.
  6. I'm not saying they should stop covering OSU. I'm saying that local news and sports should get more coverage. Their biggest problem is that alot of people are now getting their news from the internet, including the ABJ website for free. The market for mass media is changing and they need to find their niche.
  7. The BJ had a retraction printed on the front page today as a result of a lawsuit settlement(they lost) from a story they ran in 2001. There was also a story in Sundays paper which explained why the paper has shrunk down to nothing. They are getting squeezed by their shareholders and their advertising revenue is way down. Perhaps if they got down from their political grandstand and started reporting the news instead of making it up they might get more readers. Day after day of BUSH LIED and WE ARE LOSING THE WAR turns people off. Just report the local news and sports.
  8. Any idea as to why Peterson didn't play? The 2 freshman played alot of minutes.
  9. I saw Wells play this year. He remind me of Eddie George. He is very tall and lanky and is a long strider. He doesn't look like he's working very hard but the results are there. He gets up after every play like it might be his last, but so did another player by the name of Jim Brown. If OSU is telling him to look around, the Zips need to make a BIG push to get him. He has a ton of talent.
  10. It appears you can vote more than once> go get'em guys!
  11. Thankfully it appears that sanity has prevailed at Browns headquarters. Dilfer is a mediocre starter at best on a team going nowhere. Frye deserves a chance to prove himself before next season. :macc:
  12. Charlie got his first start today against J-ville. Halftime score: browns 14- Jac 3. Frye has 2 TD passes and his only incompletions were drops. Go #5!
  13. *******WARNING******* DO NOT FEED THE TROLL!
  14. I found it interesting that Novak mentioned the lack if conditioning for a possible reason that his defense didn't perform well at the end of the game. "Northern Illinois Notes NIU head coach Joe Novak: Opening statement: We certainly congratulate Akron. J.D. and their kids did a great job of hanging in there. We thought we had them down there a little bit, but they came back. The quarterback made some plays like he did against us the last time, and Hixon is definitely a go-to guy. I'm proud of our kids, I'm proud of the effort, we just came up a little bit short. On his team's pass rush: We blitzed there some, and we weren't really effective with that. Our front guys were really tired. I was concerned a little bit coming in, and this is no excuse, we're practicing outside and you get into a 72-degree atmosphere that you haven't been in a little while, and I was a concerned about our conditioning coming in. We talked about blitzing more and coming after them, but even when we blitzed we weren't real effective." It looks like the field housr is starting to pay dividends.
  15. I've been to a few domed stadiums and Ford field is the best one yet. Where I was sitting there was a nice breeze blowing and the site lines are good. It's not a college stadium for sure, but thats OK for special games like the MACC and bowl games.
  16. I'll be there also. If they offer a package similar to yesterday($119hotel/tic) I will opt for that. The hotel was really nice and the pregame party was good also.
  17. The Zips ticket office called me today with my hotel confirmation, so I asked them how ticket sales were going. They informed me that the entire 3000 seat allotment was completely sold out. They were advising people who called for tickets to contact the Ford field box office. They also me that NIU still had 2000 of their allotment unsold as of this afternoon.
  18. We had alot of open 8-10 footers last night that no one took. Over and over the Zips passed those up in an effort to get closer to the basket. If your open, SHOOT!
  19. They announced it at the BB game tonight also. Lets hope the ABJ makes some noise about this game.
  20. The Canton Repository has done a decent job of covering the Zips this year. I would say that it was better than the ABJ.
  21. I'll be there with 2 guests. Staying at the team hotel.
  22. BTW, Mike Hatch sat behind me today. Recalled one of the greatest plays in Zips history. He returned a punt on the last play of the game against W Illinois to the 5 yd line and just before he was tackled he heaved the ball over his backwards and a Zip snagged it and ran it in for the winning TD
  23. Probably the wost conditions ever for Zips game at the bowl today. Kudos to the fans who showed up, it was brutal
  24. I would say that its a close race between OU, Bgsu, Toledo, and Miami. Those four schools fans consider their programs to be "legacys". Its obvious to them that any loss to one of the "lesser" programs is always a fluke. Thats why it about killed them when Marshall came in and dominated in football. Its time for a new era in MAC sports. I saw Mike Thomas at the game today and thanked him for leaving the program in better shape than when he arrived
