  1. #CamRIPus_Lounge!
  2. The steak sandwiches are really good. The beer selection is good, but not great. The place is clean, and, for Exchange Street, pretty classy. Plenty of room. Tons of TV's...but for whatever reason they seem to always have the same thing on every TV? I will probably be there. I like it. I'd recommend you go, get a sandwich and fries (those are really good too) and if you hate it you can go to the Gyro shop or BW's afterwards. I think you'll like it. If their management was smart, they pass out coupons at the JAR after games, or offer pre-game specials. IMO it has the potential to be THE pre-game hangout. But they need to do some advertising work.
  3. It isn't actually a problem. Tell you what...I'll save 30 of them for you each Tuesday night in November.
  4. Could be the same score for the CMU-Zips game Saturday night.
  5. Lot 9 was already the tailgating spot. You could already save spots for your buddy without any problem. When people that don't drink spearhead policies on tailgating, it ends poorly. UA has shown me over the past 5 years that they have no clue regarding tailgating and what constitutes a "college game day environment." This crew succeeded in making a brand new, 65 million dollar stadium a worse place than the Rubber Bowl. I'll keep doing what I've done for years. Hope the new "organized fun" works out great for everyone. Lot 9 will be rockin' on November Tuesday nights for sure.
  6. Maybe the Zips get a player in the NFL in 2015-16?
  7. I would estimate the ratio of t-shirts and balls that reach the JAR second seating level to be 1:100. Our cheerleaders throw like Clayton Moore's sister. And, left-handed. And, into the wind.
  8. They are forced to drive to the Q two...three or four times in March, and they seem to survive just fine. If season ticket holders grouse over a short drive to Cleveland, to play a top 25 team on a neutral court, instead of playing Arkansas Cream-Puff at the JAR, they should relinquish their season tickets.
  9. No CK sighting. I told Ibitayo to pick up his game in my absence. How's he doing?
  10. Not a shocker... that's the way that guy rolls. Hope we don't hire him a 3rd time. Next man up.
  11. I disagree, my tankard-toting friend. You sell Mike Waddell too short. He was instrumental in creating them.
  12. Boise State and TCU didn't sit around with their thumbs up their butt, whining about an "even playing field." They got better. They hired great people. Odd concept.
  13. A six of them?
  14. My nephew took this photo of the UA Athletics Department parking lot next to the JAR last night (approximately 3am) -
  15. Did we send a good luck tweet to the Bucks when we played them in soccer a couple months ago? Probably did...
  16. What would Caleb Porter think? What an abject slap in the face to all the Zips fans that put The University of Akron first.
  17. C'mon, Keener...you gotta respect the game. He was the football equivalent of Marylin Munster in K.e.n.t.
  18. Was anyone else at K.e.n.t. that game where we had K.e.n.t. at a 4th and 39...and Edelmann scrambled for 40 yards? I remember a story in the K.e.n.t. paper about him wearing heavy chains around his body as he walked back and forth to all his classes, so he could strengthen his legs. That guy put the work in to be where he's at. If I ever had a favorite K.e.n.t. player, it would be him. Jose Davis @ #2.
  19. Don't you mean "...scattered amongst the remaining 4 NFL playoff teams?" 11 is an impressive number for the top 4 teams. Anyone who dismisses it as some irrelevant fractional value really doesn't know what they are talking about.
  20. We need to obtain it before we can keep it.
  21. "The referees robbed us" is always a good one in Akron.
  22. Grayshirts are usually academically eligible in Year #1. Non-qualifiers aren't. Grayshirts are typically in good academic standing, but a school's scholarships are used-up. So the player commits, but delays enrollment by a semester and enters under the following season's scholarship count. He/she then has 4 subsequent years of eligibility. A non-qualifier would only have 3 years of remaining eligibility, with the opportunity to gain a 4th year if they were on track to graduate. If Ivey were a non-qualifier, you'd like to think we'd know it. We did with Harney and Tree. Then again with the history of our Compliance Dept...who knows. They may not know the difference. Grayshirts are common in football, not nearly so much in basketball. It's hard to find mentions of basketball grayshirts on the web. Maybe KD is on the cutting-edge? D'Orazio grayshirted in football. The Zips wanted him. He wanted to come to Akron. But he had a bad knee injury. He grayshirted, then redshirted. Then he played. Then he lost another year to injury, which is why he's a 25 year old senior next year.
  23. Hope he's not taking the big dirt nap.
