  1. He just announced that his final 3 are Kentucky, WVU and Ohio State, so he wont be coming here unless something drastically changes in the next 2 months.

I doubt Ohio State would consider taking a transfer with any baggage. I assume OSU is on Shell's list, but I doubt Shell is on OSU's list.

I predict he'll end up at Cal (Pa.). Maybe not immediately, but eventually.

  2. With all the Kroger's in the Columbus area, he certainly forfeited some lucrative spokesperson opportunities by leaving Ohio State.

I hope it works out for him in Akron. Seems genuinely humble and grateful for the opportunity.

Edit - the 8 billion meg pic of a Kroger Sav-on was removed.

  3. I think he's referring to the weight, not the height. A strength and conditioning program can only do so much. It'd be nice if he was around 175-180.

The kid is 165 lbs and has not even entered his senior year in high school. If anyone thinks a 16 year old athlete that is 5' 11", 165lbs is a small HS cornerback, they don't know football.

    Great "get" by Bowden.

  4. Spoelstra. He's too busy making sure the big 3 are happy and getting along.

Why would a young player go there?

Maybe to win multiple NBA Championships?

How many Cavs 2nd year players would trade places with Norris Cole?

Nah...hope Zeke gets drafted by the Cavs, Bucks or Hawks. It's all about building character once you get to the NBA.

  5. That makes sense. He must be a relatively smart kid to be able to graduate a semester early.

I thought about the Zeke analogy myself and I think it's a pretty good one. I think it's hard for alumni who grew up close to Akron to believe that others might actually have a pretty good impression of UA, either academically or athletically.

Too bad it won't be until 2015 at the earliest, and 2016 most-likely, before we see him on the field for meaningful minutes.

It is a good timetable for him to have 2 seasons to learn under Pohl...but for fans it is a long time to wait. Hope Pohl gives us some excitement before the Kincade Era begins. And sets some records for Kincade to break.

I wonder if Tommy Woodson is reading this thread and quoting Lee Corso..."Not so fast, my friend."

    Woodson/Pohl/Kincade

    or

    Moore/Nicely/Franco

    Hmmmm....which to choose....?

  6. Early games suck. No time for tailgating, no time for family stuff that usually occurs at the same time, I don't know why people prefer them.

People that prefer them do so for tradition's sake. Saturday afternoon is college football time.

But that's for the BCS programs. Akron needs to find a niche, away from the din of the BCS. Night football isn't a solution for automatic sell-outs, but it helps small-market teams like the Zips, where the game isn't some long-engrained fall tradition, but something fun to do on a Saturday once your honey-do list and kid's stuff is done.

  7. I believe I saw in an article (can't find it now for some reason) where he is expected to sign "early" in November. I didn't even know a high school recruit could do that.

I don't believe "early" signings exist.

However, once he enrolls at UA in the spring of what would be his senior HS year, he would then lose a year's eligibility if he decided to drop-out/transfer.

But I don't see any of that happening. He seems like the "Zeke" of UA football. WPa roots and all.

  8. Love the 6pm September starts!

Lots of kids are playing baseball, lacrosse, football, etc on fall Saturday mornings and afternoons. It gives parents in my age bracket a chance to attend their kid's events and also Zips football games.

All-day tailgating in great September weather is a bonus for quite a few people too.

  9. There is a big stadium and an arena in downtown Cleveland. They were paid for by a sin tax...a tax on alcohol and cigarettes.

What society segment consumes the greatest amount of alcohol and cigarettes? The poor. I look outside the doorway of my Company and I see 10 hourly Production workers for every 1 salary employee taking a smoke break.

Our schools are funded by the state lottery. Who plays the lottery? Predominately, the poor.

Scamming the poor and stupid is the foundation of our society. It builds our stadiums and educates our kids. InfoCision Corp is no worse than any city or state government.

To the poor and stupid I say - Thanks for the stadium.
