  1. I assume their mascot is something like this?
  2. I think the offseason priorities are: 1.) Bring in a grad transfer QB, or some seasoned guy with a decent track record who perhaps got squeezed out by a young phenom. 2.) Need a couple seasoned OL's. Easier said than done, but we need a couple more solid guys that we've presently got. 3.) Identify an returning player to be the #2 QB. Develop him. Quickly. 4.) Find your 2024 kicker. We can't have a 3-kicker rotation again. 5.) Replace Lingard and Anderson with someone good. Maybe Kellom is one? 6.) Get Alex Adams back on the field. 7.) Keep Tibesar. 8.) Find another groomable young QB if the ones on the roster aren't going to work out. Don't hang on to a recruiting mistake...move on. 9.) Get better in short yardage situations. Much better. 10.) Make the fans happy. They've been through a brutal stretch. 7 D1 wins in 6 years is unfathomable. Our 2023 offense was unwatchable. Beg, borrow, steal...do whatever you can to post a winning record in 2024. The days of 0-, 1, or 2-win seasons are over. We had a defense good enough to win 6 or 7 games this year. And the worst offense in memory.
  3. Reporter: “What do you think about your team’s offensive execution?” Zips fans: “I’m all for it” Tip o the hat to John McKay. Lastly - God bless Tim Tibesar. Great work this season.
  4. Pop goes…oh, what’s the use…
  5. Down 16 going into the 4th quarter…just where we like to be…
  6. Pop goes the weasel..,
  7. I predict if Gathings so much as sneezes after a catch tonight he gets called for unsportsmanlike conduct.
  8. In case the Zips-RedHawks tilt tonight gets out of hand, Gold-Biacom faces Delaware in hoops action. Hope it’s not opposite the big Maine Presque Isle vs. Maine rivalry game (I think it’s The Battle for the Itchy Puffin trophy).
  9. The ULM football team is 0-6 in the Sun Belt. The basketball team is projected to be dead-last. Not a party being their Marketing or Athletic Director at this time.
  10. At the beginning of every basketball season I see a few names of obscure colleges scrolling across the ESPN ticker that I've never heard of. I've created this thread so everyone can add their list of oddball NAIA and D-3 "finds". Never heard of William Carey University (Southern Miss's first opponent). Drew's brother? Brescia plays at Jax State tonight.
  11. A belated congrats to the Zips on a tremendous road win. So many different guys stepped up at critical times throughout the game. Let's back it up with another one on Friday and get the bandwagon rolling. This definitely can be a special team.
  12. If you’re looking for an appetizer before the 9:15 pm Zips - SDSU game tonight, Duquesne is taking on the CSU Vikings at 7 pm on ESPN +.
  13. I always like this quote from Danny Ainge - "It’s not a coach’s job to give opportunities for everybody. To me, it’s a player’s job to make that coach feel like he needs you on the court (field) to win — because every coach wants to win.” Wasel and Jennings apparently haven't shown the ability to lead the 2023 Zips or they'd have started by now. I was surprised to see Undercuffler starting. After his voluminous turnover parade, who knew he was capable of playing a clean game turnover-wise, let alone leading three TD drives in the 4th quarter. But I guess Joe did...and he was proven correct. I'm ecstatic about the Kent win, and I've never wavered in my support of Joe, whom I am certain will turn the Zips into winners. I respect the hell out of the effort put forth by the Zips on Wednesday. But playing 1-7 opponents, at home, can make for some deceiving stats. It will be interesting to see which JU shows up against Miami. If he could play a clean game, we could win. The defense took their already-respectable game up a notch once they saw the offense finally put up some points. It's the offense's turn to ramp it up again.
  14. If anyone thought the Kent game didn't matter, and that we should play the Freshman because we need to see who can contribute next season...they were clearly incorrect.
  15. 2023 GLCA is a winner. But I think 12 Dogs of Christmas is a notch above. Better spice additions, better body, just a delicious beer. I also had a Munsterfest from 3 Floyd’s that I thought was excellent. I love Octoberfests, and I think theirs is better than Great Lakes or Sam Adams. I need to try both of them by the fireside rather than freezing my a$$ off in Lot 9. But I don’t think I’d change my mind.
  16. Youngstown State grad Al Bundy.
  17. Remember the Animal House line ”This party has reached an all time low “? It’s kinda like that. If we lose, at home, to this terrible Kent team, it’s the lowest of the lowest stretch in Zips football history.
  18. I bought a 12 pack of 12 Dogs Christmas Ale, a six of Holly Jolly and a foot long Cuyahoagie from Acme at lunch. All set for Lot 9. I’ve been to so many Toilet Bowls as a Zips fan, dating back to Faust being carried off the field after besting OU to go 1-10 in his final season…what’s one more… F Kent.
  19. He is pursuing a hardship case.
  20. You'd be surprised how short the typical fan's memory is after someone puts up a nice stat line in their first game back.
  21. Ali’s hearing is apparently this week, and then it’s another couple weeks until the NCAA is expected to give its verdict. Not looking like he’s gonna be available for those initial marquee ooc games. Hope for the best, I guess…
  22. I’ll be there. Somebody has to buy the beer…might as well be me.😀
  23. We need to beat Kent and get some positive momentum going into 2024. This isn’t the time to give PT to guys just because they’re freshmen. If Wasel and Jennings haven’t received any PT this season, it isn’t because someone wants to preserve their eligibility. It’s because they are a lesser option than even Bullock.
  24. His bar is low. Throw the ball to the guys with the “A” on their helmets. And don’t drop it every time an opposing DL is bearing down on you.
