  1. Because they feel sorry for us?Because they have a really tough time filling up their OOC schedules with quality opponents?Because it would allow them to prove, on the court, that they are among the top 4 programs in Ohio instead of leaving it up to debate. That's the best sarcasm I've got.
  2. These positions will be fine. What we will need are WRs that can get open and catch the ball down field. Does anyone know who that will be?I'd like to see the TE in the offense more. For example, they need to block well if the Zips can get the ball down by the endzone.the same concern about rb was posed before last year..the same response was given by a number of folks...it wasn't fine last year...until we see who these guys put on the field we won't know if it will be fine..The lack of ability had nothing to do with the players last year and everything to do with a coach who couldn't get everyone moving in the right direction. If the new coaching staff can do any on field coaching at all, the talent is there at RB.Again, nobody has answered the question. Who are the big play WRs going to be next year? We have a QB with a cannon for an arm and we need to find a way to use it to throw the ball down field and not hand off the majority of the time.MAC schools are horrible at playing from behind. The Zips need to focus on big plays early in games that get leads and then if they want to try to run out the clock in the fourth quarter with seven or less minutes to go, I have no problem with that.Who are the big play WRs going to be?Jeremy LaFrance will be the #1 WR. He's a real player. Merriwether and Nadir Brown...one of the two should emerge as a solid #2. Probably Merriwether. Schrock has a chance to come in and compete immediately. I think Randy Greenwood is a logical choice to fill Jeremy Bruce's shoes. If we could somehow pull in a solid JUCO WR, it would be nice. JD did well in California with the JUCO WR's...but I'm guessing those contacts are all lost.Ianello turned Golden Tate from a decent RB to an amazing WR. Maybe one of our RB's will be the answer?
  3. Ohio State opens against Marshall on the 2nd, so you'd like to think the Zips/Syracuse tilt on the 4th would sell out. It better.
  4. CSU is down THIS YEAR, but Waters track record points towards that being a temporary thing. Bullsh!t. Find a way to make it happen. This isn't finding peace between the Palestinians and the Jews. This is scheduling a freaking basketball game. UA needs to make this happen. If it involves biting their tongue and starting the negotiations fresh, then so be it. Hiding behind the "Until Gary Waters honors the contract..." excuse has run it's course for me. I want CSU on our schedule every year. Home/Home. Do it Tom.Tom - If you want me to do it, I'll make the phone calls. The offer is extended.
  5. Zips looking to take advantage of CMU instability
  6. A little on Frisman
  7. Yep....well not that it matters when you hit 13 of 25 from the line. It'd be a manageable game right now if we hit 75%.I believe Buffalo has led the MAC in free throw defense for the past 6 years, so it isn't surprising that we shot poorly. Give credit where credit's due!
  8. Obviously, there was nothing of substance. I'm very disappointed in my University.
  9. You were also told "WOO HOO!" (by me).
  10. He's pretty much averaging a double-double from December through the OU game. That's enough for me to be a believer.OU was a big game. He went 16/14.
  11. Yep, that was Ray Mernagh's column in the MACReportonline. Nice read if you haven't seen it. Dambrot brings confidence, and victory, to the Zips. Here's a quote from the article "Nate Linhart, a kid one Zip fan said on a public message board back in his freshman year "wasn't a D-1 player" is winning MAC Tournament MVP honors." OK, own up, who was it? I vote GP1.
  12. First 104 Games:13 three-pointers265 points215 ReboundsNext 16 Games:8 three-pointers140 points110 rebounds
  13. I won't complain that they caused the Zips to win or lose. But I will complain when they turn a potentially thrilling competition into a quilting bee.
  14. How much do MAC refs make per game?I believe the number I head last year was $800?
  15. My complaint regarding MAC refs is their overzealous whistle-blowing that drags games on 45 minutes longer than they should run, and which turns otherwise thrilling competitions into free throw-shooting contests.
  16. If you ever wondered how you sound when you whine about the refs after a loss -Bobcatattack.com thread
  17. I wonder if the Miami crowds during the Wally-era were any different?
  18. Nice job. Better than I could have done. My favorite tidbit - Do I see an opponent for the Zips to add to their 2010-11 OOC schedule embedded in your column? Out with Malone...in with...
  19. Congrats to Levon! What a great representative of The University of Akron!I look forward to all the ZN posters who bemoaned our "out of control" football program in September stepping forward and, with the same number of keystrokes, acknowledging what an outstanding representative of the UA Program this particular kid is.
