  1. Every HC candidate is - "The Best Recruiter Ever." Just like every AD candidate is "The Best Fund Raiser Ever."How is it that George O'Leary is the only guy who's ever been called out for a bogus resume'?
  2. Faust was a great recruiter too. There's more to the equation.
  3. In 2008 at the Zips basketball golf outing, the UA all-time leading scorer was in attendance wearing his NC lid.I will not be meeting up with him....I WISH it were only the UNC lid. He had the matching shirt and shorts too!
  4. I hope the games stay in Canton/Massillon. That area needs the money, and a lot of Stark County restaurants and hotels do very well on that weekend. It would suck if the games move to Columbus or Cincinnati. They don't need the cash.
  5. Not unless we scheduled better, and quit losing our "measuring stick" games. We WOULD have a better chance of winning more than 1 game in the NIT, however.
  6. Trust me, I do not come here to tick you guys off, I can't help it I had to come on here and defend my Guins! Can anyone tell me what "Stoops" rhymes with?Hint -
  7. Please refer to the graphic.
  8. This just in, ZN has learned that eguins is on suicide watch. I heard eguins pooped one an unheard of 50cm when he heard the news?
  9. No royalties will be collected on it's use. Tis the season.
  10. Look for a big jump after the Malone game.
  11. Has anyone heard ZipsLive lately? It is absolutely unlistenable. I had it on for about 10 minutes last week while folding clothes...and that was all I could take. The host precludes every question with a 5-minute introduction of inane diatribe. The coach answers the "softball" question, then another 5 minute diatribe begins. Then they go to the same 3 maddening commercials that we've all heard 8000 times...then it's back to another 5 minute diatribe before the next softball is lobbed. The best part of the show I heard was KD talking about the soccer team. The host asked him a basketball question, and KD freestyled, asking "How about that Zips soccer team?" The host broke into a very mechanical, again long winded, generic overview of the Zips soccer team, then went back to his basketball question. KD then asked the guy "Have you ever been to a Zips soccer match?" The host replied "No," then followed it up with some additional schlocky generic soccer diatribe. KD, sensing the guy was stalling, pressed it further.."I can't believe you've never been to a Zips soccer game?" The host snapped back with something like "CAN WE PLEASE GET BACK TO TALKING BASKETBALL?" You could see the smoke pouring out the guy's ears through the radio...and that's tough to do.If you can't hear ZipsLive, you aren't missing anything.
  12. Yeah...if we only had a coach that could beat Syracuse...THEN we would win the local recruiting wars.Could you imagine if that same coach could beat someone like NC State too? Holy hell...we'd NEVER lose a recruit!!Man, you're on a roll this week.
  13. Why? They didn't go 3-9 to cap off 4-consecutive losing seasons.
  14. Mangino had a winning overall record at Kansas...something no one had done for the last 43 years. He led them to 4 bowl games in his 8 seasons, winning three of them. As recently as 2007, he finished the season 12-1, beating Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl. How does a school like Akron say "No thanks" to a guy with that resume'? They don't.If he wants to coach the Zips, I'm renting space at the Blimp hanger out by the Rubber Bowl...sliding open the door to allow his enormous ass to enter...and conducting a serious interview. If he can provide a plausible plan for getting Zips football turned around, like he did at Kansas, and provide a plausible explanation for his teams 0-7 finish, I'm asking the UA Board of Trustees for permission to triple the coach's food per diem, and offer the guy a 5-year contract.
  15. Are you serious? Are you listening to the InfoCision grass intern again? Or the guy that reported Patrick Nicely's broken ankle?Where was Nick Saban before Toledo? Gary Pinkel before Toledo? Urban Meyer before BG? Randy Walker before Miami? Brady Hoke before Ball State? There are a million examples of BCS assistants who became highly, HIGHLY successful MAC coaches.
  16. You don't need to look any further than the MAC East to see former Nebraska HC Frank Solich going to multiple bowl games with OU.BTW - I can name you two young, "up-and-coming" BCS-level assistant coaches who coached at UA and couldn't win - Lee Owens and JD Brookhart.
  17. I would love some Mangino action around here... Akron would be a great image restorer for him.I think Mangino got a raw deal at Kansas. A few bad apples trashed his last season. If you look at the body of his work, he was a miracle worker @ Kansas. I can easily forgive the last 7 games of his Kansas career if he wants to come to UA. Fat ass or not, the dude can coach.
  18. Hix for Six - Turns Giants' Season Around
  19. Please stop making sense......Hey...it's a step up. Only 3 months ago they were still running promos for The Coleman Crawford Show held at The Armadillo.
  20. +1MORE Power Lines Dip!
  21. Or maybe he made the mistake of saying exactly what he is planning to do.....It makes absolutely no sense for a non-qualifier attend Akron, then transfer. No one does that in Division 1 college football. Anywhere. That's why the prep schools exist. Or JUCO's.In the history of Zips athletics, no "Mr. Football/Mr. Basketball/"Super-Duper All-Star" has ever made a meaningful contribution. In fact, all have been HUGE busts, often barely seeing the playing field or court.Marcus Sanders, Christian Morgan, Nate Robinson, Ryan Bain, John Carson, Emmanuel Smith, Derrick Tarver, etc etc etc.
  22. Temple can beat Army. And Marshall might just be bad enough to lose to OU.I agree...the MAC just might get a win this bowl season.
  23. Dan LeFevour isn't.
  24. I have to believe the kid was either mis-quoted, or mis-spoke.He likely meant he would go to a prep school for a year, then attend a BCS-type school. This would cost him some cash, + there'd be a little risk that if he got hurt he'd have no college scholarship.Or...take the guaranteed scholarship and enter a school like UA and sit out a year while taking college courses. His scholarship would be guaranteed, assuming his 2nd year grades were in order. He wouldn't attend UA, then transfer out, because his eligibility clock begins ticking as soon as he steps foot on campus for classes. The penalty would compound if he were a non-qualifier.
