  1. I have an idea for a new InfoCision tradition:We create a Tailgate Lot #9 band. Every hour, up until 1 hour prior to game time, the "band"...for the moment I will name them "Ohio's Embarrassment"...plays Beer Barrel Polka and In Heaven There is No Beer. That's it. Then they go back to drinking beer for another 55 minutes. No rehearsals. Practice at home with your own sheet music. Fans too musically-skilled will be removed from the band. I'm in on trumpet. Who else can dust off an old instrument? Someone here had to quit playing the baritone in 10th grade?
  2. Akron 3Indiana 1Will there be more than 4 people working concessions at this game?
  3. Sounds good to me. We don't know how good Indiana is, and we don't know much about ourselves right now either.I hope this game starts to tell us a lot more.....and I hope it's good I just wish we could play Michigan the following week so we could truly gauge our team.
  4. Hoosiers Real Test Will Be vs. Michigan?
  5. Coach is concerned about Akron's crowd noise...whooda ever thunk it?
  6. Yep, there were a ton on the field before the game. I think JD said in his press conference yesterday that there were 45 recruits at the game. I'm sure there will be a big amount at the Indiana game, as well. I have to believe that experience will get some of those guys to commit pretty quickly.45 recruits and only about 9 scholarships remaining to offer. We should get some really good kids out of the those final 9 schollies.
  7. I maintain the guy is way over-hyped. He played a decent game against a BCS team for the first time in his life. Good for him. Jacquemain tore up Syracuse too. Don't look for Michigan State in the Rose Bowl this season. For me, this will be a fun thread to recap on a weekly basis.
  8. PD Article on JarvisMy favorite passage --Around K.e.n.t., where football angst comes in a heartbeat, this news would immediately signal yet another losing season. But Martin, with team captain Brian Lainhart sitting beside him, threw down his battle ax instead.Martin, the sixth-year coach who has yet to see a winning season, went on to say even without K.e.n.t.'s starting tailback and starting QB, it is time for coaches and players to collectively "show up.""I guarantee right now we're going to have a winning season, and we're going to a bowl game," Martin said. "I'm burning the ships." That was a reference to Vikings burning their vessels when they arrived at the lands they expected to conquer.Lainhart looked momentarily stunned What are the odds K.e.n.t. wins 3 games this season? 50 - 1?I'm with Lainhart.
  9. I think last Saturday was a pretty good advertisement for the Indiana game. If the fans don't want to come back and do it again this week, if they didn't go home and tell their friends about the great time they had and recommend the place, shame on them.I think UA is doing an good job of keeping the game visible.
  10. I learned to dislike the guy when he stiffed JD on Signing Day and elected to attend K.e.n.t. He'll finish his career 1 - 3 vs. the Zips...stuck on the sidelines of their empty, crappy stadium...watching his teammates limp to a 2-10 season.I am sorry to hear his career is over. Especially in that fashion. But since he stiffed us for K.e.n.t., I'm not shedding any tears. At least he had a really nice high school career. And maybe he can root for the Zips the rest of the way out. It would be fun for him to root for a winner, I'm assuming."On the Hunt"
  11. I wouldn't mind seeing him tote the ball in goal-line situations.
  12. I thought the band was great on Saturday.
  13. It's a "Roo-Blue" Saturday!
  14. Yeah...having a beer at a sporting event is crippling to anyone's political aspirations.
  15. I am pleased. Thank you. I thought you said he quit though....I find it interesting that you are bothered by me questioning the ability of this staff to recruit players that actually make the team. You obviously disagree...I never said he quit. You did. Use the search function on our site. Type in "Marquinn." You'll find all related posts. It is very easy.As far as retention is concerned, you again elect to ingore facts. Zipboy spelled it out a while ago in this post.Tonga is here. Davis is here. Homayed is here. Herderson will likely be here in the spring. Retention in the last 3 years is excellent. If you want to dwell on 4-5 years ago, that's your call.
  16. Marquinn is now good-to-go for 2009. Is BuckZip pleased?
  17. Trust me. I'll treat Morgan State fans differently than K.e.n.t. fans.
  18. Enjoy the Mogen David. La Chaim Didn't he used to be the Zips beat writer?
  19. Toledo is 0-1, and was 3-9 last season. They're up against high school football on a Friday night. That's tough for a MAC program to overcome.
  20. I vote we put this on the main page for the next two days! No, you should not have to mention this, but I am glad you did. Great Job.+1 +1 +1I went to Nebraska several years ago to see the Zips. It was unreal how nice each and every one of their fans I encountered was towards the Zips faithful. The Nebraska band stopped by our small cheering section and played the Zips fight song. It seriously almost brought a tear to my eye at the time.Conversely - Last season I went to the Insight Bowl just for something to do on an Arizona vacation. Being a Minnesota Vikings fan, I had a Chester Taylor jersey (mine) and an Adrian Peterson jersey (son's). I figured I'd wear them and root for the Golden Gophers against Kansas. I needed someone to root for.So...I'm squeezing ketchup on my son's hot dog when this older gentlemen approaches me and rants "YOU SHOULD BE SUPPORTING THE GOPHERS, NOT THE VIKINGS! WHERE'S YOUR GOPHER SHIRTS?!" He bolted away in a huff.Zips fans have the chance to either be known as Nebraska-types. Or Minnesota-types. It only takes one a-hole to ruin your perception of an institution. As ZW stated - Go out of your way to be nice. If you see someone who came all the way from the east coast to support Morgan State, offer them a beer or whatever's on your grill. Ditto Indiana next week. It isn't up to Hunter Yurachek to impress the visiting fans. That's out of the University's control. It is up to you - The Zips Fan. 13 hours until kickoff!!!! Again - well done, ZW.
  21. A picture of a hairy Zips fan's arm with a 12-day old wristband. Thank God Al Gore created the internet! You know you can't take it off until the Zips lose! I want updated photos every 12 days!
  22. Paulus hits a three at the buzzer -Penn State 38Syracuse 3Syracuse/Penn State predictions on a Zips board?
  23. That's not a tremendous accomplishment.And, there isn't a 60-foot tall picture of CJ in downtown Cleveland.
  24. The most overrated QB in recent MAC history, Dan LeFevour, had another stellar performance against a BCS school on Saturday night.Tore up Arizona (no threat for a BCS bowl bid, trust me) for a whopping 108 yards. He continues to live off his sophomore season.Passing Cmp-Att-Int Yds TD Long Sack--------------------------------------------LeFEVOUR, Dan 18-31-1 108 0 16 2
