  1. Reading the posts from our Youngstown buddies, I now understand why this Mahoning Valley icon was consistently re-elected...
  2. A year's subscription to the Rasor blog to anyone who can identify the irony in that sentence.
  3. Click -- Makes You appreciate Dambrot...Hell...It Makes You Appreciate Hipsher!
  4. That comment made me feel old.
  5. He's talking about their football schedule. I don't think OSU has the guts to schedule K.e.n.t. and the Zips in the same hoops season.
  6. I don't think anyone has stated Romeo will, or should get a roster spot. What people have stated above is, if he were given a roster spot, the Cavs would win no more, or no fewer games than if Wesley/Pollard/Newble/Chuck Nevitt/ML Carr or any other end-of-the-bench, towel-waving stiff were there. And, the Cavs would save a huge chunk of money.
  7. He just wasn't all that interested in school. Oh well...we move on.
  8. Who's here? There are approximately 10 incoming freshman already on campus, working out with the upper-classmen. Who Has the Edge @ QB?It is 100% wide open at this time. It will be a two-week evaluation process in August. I would guess after the dust settles someone will either transfer, or convert to another position.Jordan Miller (#11 in video) -- QB commit from New PhillyI wouldn't get too tied up in the "no one else had offered him so he must not be that good" train of thought. I'm told Coach Moorehead really likes him. We're fortunate he flew under the radar.Impact Newcomers You Might Not KnowWith the departure of Harvey guaranteed, and Lindsay pretty much out too, look for the Malone College transfer WR Alphonso Owen to contribute early. He could be a Ryan Myers-esque story this fall (Myers transferred from Ashland and immediately became an impact player for the Zips).Alex Allen is also very near 100%. He's expected to have a break-out season. Jose Cruz is looking like a great TE. The bad news for him is he's behind Kaz and Merce, but the good news is the TE is going to be heavily relied upon this fall. He'll get his touches."Mondo" Sewell has popped some eyes in the weight room since arriving on campus. He recently busted out three consecutive sets of 6 reps @ 345 lbs. Not too shabby for a true freshman linebacker. Even though he's weighing in at around 260lbs, it is expected he'll be playing LB this fall.SpeedIt still looks like Brandon Anderson is still the fasted Zip, consistently running in the 4.35 area. Incoming Buchtel grad Brian Williams is supposedly also in that range.
  9. Click me (I agree with him, BTW)
  10. If Harvey was on the Zips roster this fall, I would be shocked.(artist's rendering of me after hearing David Harvey was on our fall 2007 roster)
  11. How many fewer games would the Cavs have won last year if Romeo, @ $375,000/yr, was on their team instead of Ira Newble or Scott Pollard @ $4,000,000/yr?I'm guessing it wouldn't have made any difference. Except they'd have $3,625,000 extra to spend on a point guard.
  12. Well, on the one hand, it might allow the stands to be a bit closer to the field than if it were fit for futbol. And, it increases the odds that the new stadium will have an artificial surface like field turf. Has anyone heard anything on this "ground".ZIP I would be absolutely shocked if the new stadium turf were anything but field turf. How else could you hold the 100+ events/yr that there're talking about? I'm sure a lot of HS games will be played there. No way you could do that with grass. Unless...you were stupid like the Steelers and wanted to play in a sod chunk fest every week.Even OSU is going to field turf.
  13. A 55 million dollar stadium is a pretty major deal. And the eminent domain issues add some legal complexities. A premature announcement could jeopardize the Sept 2009 opening and also add some costs. The announcement will be made in August. By then everything should be finalized.
  14. Just to add a little more on Ryan Bain:When when word got out that he wanted to transfer, by the time the Zips had caught wind, he was very close to a commitment to Colorado State. The Zips coach responsible for the Illinois region had a good relationship with Bain's coach at Bolingbrook and let him know the Zips had an urgent need at the DL. Bain checked out the Zips program and liked what he saw. The rest is history. He's going to be a huge addition to our team in 2008. He also had a lot of interest from Cincinnati.
  15. I've heard he might be leaning towards Akron? It would be an awesome signing for the Zips if it is true. He's arguably the top HS RB in Akron this upcoming season. 4.4 forty and about 210 lbs. Has anyone heard similar rumblings?Click for Bio
  16. Then prove it on the field. We'll pay you $125,000 to do so. Hell...it is probably up to $175,000 by now.
  17. ...and when the coach-pitch league offers you $125,000 to play a game, make sure you decline the offer...then grouse about how they never play against you. Then post some highly relevant pictures of a sweet T-ball stadium in Appalachia.
  18. I am told that rumor is untrue.
  19. The 2006-7 Drexel team had a monster schedule, and beat Villanova, Creighton and Syracuse on the road. They won 23 games, had a 39 RPI...and didn't make it.I don't think there is a schedule possible that would guarantee any mid-major an NCAA at-large berth anymore.I love the schedule. It gives us a fighting chance for the post-season.
  20. K.e.n.t Fan responds to the $500.00 fee. Most don't seem to mind. They shouldn't. They're probably the highest level basketball program that, to date, didn't have such fees for their better seats.
  21. Nice to see the event won't conflict with football tailgating this year!
  22. Joe Novak is a great coach. His teams are consistently in the hunt for MAC championships. In 2003 he beat Maryland (#24), Alabama and Iowa State to start the season.Iowa lost 7 of their final 9 games in 2006. If you think a crappy Iowa team blows-out a Novak-coached team on a neutral site, you're nuts.
  23. 19k would be a great size for a Division 1 football stadium.
  24. I'm not ecstatic only because we need to wait a year before he can suit up. Getting a DL of his caliber is a great addition.
