He's a Prop, so you won't see his name until he is in good academic standing...hopefully after the spring semester.

I wanted to than all who helped me assemble the recruiting information this year. Thanks to all of you who answered my emails and phone calls, and who gave me great information unsolicited.I'd like to think ZipsNation was able to provide the most up-to-date, accurate and detailed information regarding Zips football recruiting spanning from the summer of 2006 through today. Anyone can cut and paste the list from Scout.com or Rivals.com. To me, that's worthless. I really enjoyed bringing the "better" info to all of you, and bringing that info first. As soon as I find out who that "extra" scholarship might be held for...I'll let you know.

A "Mondo-Large" Commitment
Captain Kangaroo replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
Big welcome to both Shane and Mondo! To all the new signees - Enjoy Wednesday. It's a hell of an accomplishment to get a D-1 scholarship. We're happy as hell to have you on board! You'll love Akron. -

To the OH-ver-RAY-TED cadence:DIALS-is-BET-TER (clap clap clapclapclap)To the old "I got a fee-lin', Pittsburgh's goin' to the Su-per Bowl" song:"I got a fee-lin', Bubba's goin' to the NIT"

It was in the PD, not the ABJ. Click me for StoryI do agree with it. I'm shocked Duquesne is playing well, but they are. Winning @ Duquesne would be a nice feather in our cap. The article does say that our chances of an "at-large" are slim. But if we screw up in Cleveland, a win like the Duquesne one might be the difference between a home NIT game and an away one.Let's hope we don't have to worry about that.

I agree the U of A can do a better job with pricing kid's tickets. For football and basketball. The Zippy's Kid's Club is an awesome deal, but it is promoted as though the University doesn't want people to know about it. If it was placed as an option in the season ticket fliers...or if U of A "pimped" it in the lobby prior to hoops games...many more people would take advantage of it.Too late for this season.

Cancel school please!!
Captain Kangaroo replied to Apollo Creed's topic in General UA & Campus Discussion
I sat outside and watched the Zips/K.e.n.t last year in similar weather for about 4 hours. The 10 minute walk between buildings is nothing by comparison. I bet Jermain Reid is walking around campus in a sleeveless "T" today. -25 degrees = Bring a Flask to Class Day! -
BGSU is a "dog." They suck unless they're playing a Division III school, which is how they got their deceivingly decent record. BG is drawing about 1,200 at home, so there's no way they're bringing many on the road.Austin Peay is a HUGE game. We shouldn't need to discount tickets. It will be for either our 20th or 21st win, and it's on ESPN "something." People should pay for that game.If the Zips discount tickets the rest of the way out, they're being stupid and lazy. There's a good bandwagon rolling. Zips men's basketball is now proven to be a great product, and all remaining games have a good value. It's time people besides me started paying for their tickets.

The Zips wanted him bad, and apparently he's on his way to Akron! Yet another HUGE pick up for the Zips football program!!
-
You could do this for every "dog" game, but to do it for every game remaining on the schedule would be pretty weak on the University's part. You shouldn't need to give away freebies for a 1st place 17-4 team.Freebies for a Ball State or EMU game is fine. It was nice to have the kid's energy in the building. There's no way you give away tickets for the OU or Austin Peay game. Unless you just don't like revenue.

Today's game has yet to be discussed on the board, which is baffling for a team that 16-4 and playing as well as we are. Where's the excitement? IMO, Ball State is a very dangerous team. We need to come out ready to play today or John Thompson's kid could notch the biggest win of his very young coaching career.See you at BW-3's in about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Word is Almondo is going to accept an offer from Temple and play nearer to his home in Trenton. Rats. He looked like a solid player.
-
Why would a guy that busted his ass as much as he did to get on the court walk away from it with a year's eligibility remaining? If he truely was considering it, someone should tell him the real world sucks. It's a lot more fun to play basketball and go to college than it is to sit in a cubicle and create Excel spreadsheets. Trust me on that one. He'd also be letting KD and the team down. They need him next season.I don't see the Dials departure scenario playing out.

I think the fact that we have no kickers anywhere on the recruiting radar is evidence Igor's expected to be healthy. Hopefully Stec gets some better snaps and protection too. Kicking was atrocious last season.

Shawn Lemon, a DL from the 2006 recruiting class was at last week's WMU/Zips hoops game. He's good to go for the 2007 season. No grade issues.John Hannah, a DL who visited last weekend, just picked up an offer from Florida State. The Zips still feel there's a decent shot for him to attend U of A.Twyon Martin, a 6' 2" 265 lb DT from Florida will be visiting this weekend. He's committed to UConn at this time, but we all know that stuff can change like the wind.
-
I doubt the Zips will offer him a scholarship.

FYI - I quit attending games at that time, and that says alot. They were unwatchable. Thank God those days are gone. -
Recruiting 2008

I trust myself more than I do a Virginia newspaper. After the rollercoaster ride Vince has taken us on, who knows what tomorrow might bring...but as of today Feb 1st, 2007, I guarantee 100% he reconfirmed his commitment to the Zips.

Hey, even Dan Hipsher's crappy teams won some MAC games. They even beat K.e.n.t. on occasion. So every MAC game is technically dangerous. Especially when we're on the road. That said, we're 16-4 for a reason. We're a pretty good basketball team and us fans expect the team to beat the lower-echelon MAC schools, be it on the road or at home.Switching gears on a semi-related note:KD said on the post game tonight "If you think we should beat Austin Peay handily, you're an elitist." I thought that was a pretty harsh thing to say about any Zips fan...and I'm not one that thinks that game will be a cake walk by any stretch. I would say if you think we'll beat Austin Peay pretty handily, you're either:a.) Not very hip to Austin Peay's basketball program (and tell me anyone in Akron who is...even KD says he doesn't know much about them)b.) Your simply pretty euphoric over our 16-4 startc.) You know we typically play extremely well at homed.) All of the above"Elitist?" An Akron basketball fan? Come on. Let the Zips fans have some fun and have some expectations for the first time in two decades.
