Total mis-classification
Let me fix that for you.
To be filed under Bad Quarterback Play
On the coin toss earlier this year where we elected to "kick" instead of defer, I'd be curious to know just how much the coaching staff emphasized "If we win the toss, DEFER to the second half."
On being deep in our own end of the field, I wonder how strongly the coaches emphasized to Nicely that taking a safety if he had to still kept us within a touchdown ... that turning it over deep in our own end was far worse.
Not sure our coaches (in-training) are doing a very good job at all preparing/coaching the players. Quite a few unnecessary penalties as well (illegal formations come to mind). We look 'green' and our record and play in general sure seems to back that up. My vote all along was to bring in an experienced coach AND staff similar to what NIU did when Novak left.
Totally boneheaded. We are only down 6 if we take the safety. Even if he gets it out of the end zone, Ken+ would have had first and goal at the 1 or 2 yard line. Take the safety!! And I don't know why Coach I didn't challenge that Nicely recovered the fumble and was down. If it's challengable, we would have still had a remote chance to win.
Coach I ?!? How about "coach-in-training." File this one away with "We elect to kick-off."
Nicely D-O-N-E !!!
TERRIBLE pass that leads to a Can't pick-6 in the first half.
Fumbles in the endzone with about 3 minutes to go (due in part to our pathetic O-line), recovers it (would have resulted in safety), and then tries to shuffle it out of the endzone only to be recovered IN the endzone by Can't for a touchdown.
Love the timing of the soccer game. There's a chance the eyes may start to glaze over watching STO. Will be prepared to go 100% soccer GameTracker if need be.
We've won 5 of the last 6, and 8 of the last 10, so I can't agree with this statement in the least. Can you give the Zips some credit where it's deserved?
Absolutely. I should be grateful that we obviously have taken care of our rival the last ten years. For whatever reason it doesn't feel that way at times. The funk that is Akron football has definitely taken its toll on many of us. A lot of average at best football and only the single bowl appearance over those same ten years.
Having a hard time predicting a score for this one.
You can't take 'SUCKS' out of "Can't" as it is in there by definition. It is what it is.
On the other hand, we THOROUGHLY SUCK and that appears to be supported by statistics no matter how you slice and dice them. This game could easily be the ESPN Bottom 10 Pillow Fight of the Week ...
I know we've found a way to keep the wagon wheel in recent years for the most part but Can't always SEEMS to do a better job of being 'up' for this game. We continue to get rolled and in doing so, roll the wheel across the field to them ...
Akron 16
Can't 38
Glad I won't be there this year. Like others, just can't stomach a beat-down at the hands of Can't, ESPECIALLY over there. Will watch as much as I can on STO.
I wanted to read Gaffney's article, headed over to do so, but it just looked like so much blah, blah, blah ...
MAN UP, GET PISSED, AND LOOK LIKE A FREAKIN' FBS FOOTBALL TEAM FOR A FULL 60 MINUTES!!!
I think the owls are in for a treat tonight. My guess is 4-0.
I've been saying the same thing the last couple of days. Would NOT want to be FAU tonight. Akron does not generally run up a score so 4-0 or 5-0 sounds about right tonight. Enough to vent and put #1 ranking back on display but not enough to humiliate/embarrass FAU coach and players.
Looking forward to another nice night at our newly-renovated pitch. GO ZIPS!
I'm heading down on the bus, but if you're tailgating I think there is a fairly large parking lot adjacent to the soccer stadium, to the south ( just northwest of Value City Arena, west of their practice football fields and fieldhouse). OSU fans use it to tailgate for football games, so I think you should be fine there.
Yep. Plenty of parking just to the south and to the northwest ... Jesse Owens Stadium
At least four heading down in our van. Room for two or three more should anyone need a ride. PM me. Leaving Norton/Wadsworth area around 4 as well.
FYI - For those of you who won't be traveling to Columbus Wednesday night, Steve French mentioned on the football broadcast Saturday night that he'll be there to call the match on 1350AM.
Should be fun!
