I always root for former student athletes who return to coach at their alma mater. Seemed like a nice guy and I'm sorry to see him go.Does anyone have a link to a UT fan site? Would be curious to see how they feel about the move.

Well said, Blue & Gold.I saw Zeke, and family members with Coach Boals in the lobby of the JAR before the Can't State/Akron game a couple of weeks ago and couldn't help but wonder what they thought of the coaching staff and The University of Akron in general. It's an exciting time on the campus of UA right now. I attended UA in the 80s and I'm AMAZED at the transformation that has taken place under the leadership of Dr. Proenza and others. The campus is alive and growing by the day. As others have mentioned, a new football stadium is under construction as are new classroom facilities. New student housing is replacing and adding to older housing. New student union, new rec center, new field house, roads have been closed and green space added to help tie everything together as a campus - Dr. Proenza's vision and execution of his plan have been outstanding. My degree from Akron has served me well and both of our kids (9 & 13) are excited about attending someday (you can see by looking at the the avatar on this post that they love Zippy too!). Quality facilities, quality courses of study, and high-character leadership - yes, I'm proud of what I see going on at The University of Akron!Go ZIPS!

Just the position I like us to be in. We play anywhere near how we played against CMU and WMU, then they have a trap game on their hands. I hope I can catch it on the web, I don't get Classic.The $64M question! Will the CMU/WMU Zips show up or the Can't/Can't Zips? Vegas has us as 7.5/8.5-point dogs. Sure would be nice to surprise more than a few FSU fans and ESPN Classic viewers tomorrow night!

Assuming we can keep this up, I'd prefer to reload this way than the JUCO "two-and-done" route. I'm glad KD is willing to be patient and not give in to the temptation to go after the "quick fix." If I remember correctly, OU got some good guard play out of their JUCO guys this year but in the end the talented Bubbacats struggled (TOS is probably the biggest reason why). Now they've got a couple of guys who will be gone after next year and they may have to quickly fill the pipeline again. As someone else pointed out, for every coach who successfully blends JUCOs, there are probably a bunch others who have a hard time getting it to work.

Who picks up the tab for the last-minute travel expenses to Tallahassee and beyond? I'm assuming MasterCard and other NIT sponsors have all of that stuff covered. If I remember right, it costs the University a good chunk of whatever they receive when they participate in a football bowl game. Just wondering.

Just checked Vegas ... no line yet on Akron free throw % over/under or wide-open-look field goal % over/under . Sure hope they left that behind them in Cleveland. Don't forget the big can of Whoop-Ass! and LET'S GO ZIPS! Glad the guys are getting a chance to get a little more post-season experience.

LosAngelesZipFan - One of these days I'd LOVE to say goodbye forever to Ohio winters BUT I can't stand the thought of not being able to drive 15 minutes to the JAR to watch our Zips. Same with football season as disappointing as those have been for the most part. Can't wait to make the drive north in a little while and feel for ya. Great to know there are Zips fans all around the country and as far away as LA and HI cheering Akron on. Have fun this afternoon watching the game. GO ZIPS!!!

Totally agree with going for the kill. Would be REALLY nice to see this one play out like the CMU and WMU games with Akron enjoying a reasonably comfortable lead most of the way in the second half. DON'T let this thing come down to the wire. GO ZIPS!!!

As others have said, put the pressure on Kool - make it difficult for him to shoot and create for others. I think we have the horses to deal with Reitz inside. Bardo has been playing decent defense (blocks, changing shots) and I have to believe that the McKnights are there as well to help Wood on Reitz. Bring the defensive effort we've come to expect, shoot somewhere between what we did last night and our pathetic performance against Can't and I think we'll be OK. Very nice effort yesterday ... need to bring that kind of game on both ends again tonight.Starting to get nervous ... must be getting closer to wrapping things up at work and heading north. Just for fun, I went to expedia, and did a search from Akron-Canton to Salt Lake City, leaving Tues March 16, coming back March 18.....$555.00/person round trip....Well then ... I guess someone HAS priced them lately!

NCAA is my choice for any of the reasons already presented above. I look up at the banners hanging in the JAR and it's the 'NCAA' banner that stands out to me. The one that says 'NIT' just rings hollow with me. If I have to choose between invitations from the NIT or CBI, I'd turn to the NI committee, return the favor , and accept the one from the CBI. Career-limiting move on my part towards the NIT (NCAA)? Yeah, but I'm still smarting from last year ...

There are two teams I am rooting for tomorrow.....Akron and Miami.Same here. Give me MU on their 4th straight day (for whatever that might be worth). Also fewer sweater fans than hippie fans.OU is sad and so is Bubba.

AMEN...and it had nothing to do with the lopsided game. It was all about the TEAM not being able to hit shots as a TEAM. Not just 2 guys.Exactly! Everyone is trying to find an excuse and to put it on Goddard and Milum is ridiculous.As I already stated in a previous post on this thread, the classy thing to do is to start those five guys. No excuse for leaking oil as badly as we did ... my only question is could a basket or two (maybe three?) in those first 2-1/2 minutes of play made enough of a difference in the final outcome ... I don't think I would have passed up the opportunity to sub the first time around (KD left all five out there if I remember correctly) but then again, as previously stated, I have no class ...
