I did not KNOW that! Perfectly acceptable, I think, in this relatively slow window of the Akron sports calendar! Better get the rest of the meaningless stuff off your chest now - I think the window of opportunity is beginning to close with the start of football practice.

I'll get right on this and check to see if she's a FedEx customer service rep!

Dave Bronczek, President and CEO of FedEx Express ... a nicer guy you will never meet (I work for FedEx here in Akron and have met and talked to Dave a couple of times). Should have known better I'm afraid. Entering dream (on) state ... FedEx is Fortune 500 in Memphis, Goodyear is Fortune 500 here in Akron ... I wonder what it would be like to have Akron playing in the Goodyear Forum and have the support of top Goodyear brass (leadership and financial contributions) behind the athletic program ...

He sure wouldn't have. Also note that you can put as many diamonds as you want on a piece of shit, but it's always going to be a piece of shit.Yep! Ya just can't polish a turd.

The Big Dog is slinging more steel this morning! Still very unsure about this year's team but very much looking forward to 2009!

Thanks for the update GoZips. LOVE that kind of update. LOVE how big we are up front and the quickness it sounds like we can expect out of the guard play. Really make it easy to look forward to another exciting year on the hardwood. Wish the same could be said about the gridiron ... try as I might, I'm having a hard time getting pumped up for the football season. Thanks again during a r-e-a-l-l-y slow time of the year.

We can HOPE we (and JD) get a better-than-.500 season but I'd like to reserve "JD is moving on to Can't State." for possible future use on the board. Will the moderators permit me to post that or do we not wish that on ANYONE?

YES! FINALLY able to access the cams from work! Wow, they ARE refreshing much more rapidly than in the past. Will be mindful of bandwidth and only take a quick peek every so often.

Very cool - will watch for a replay of that episode.... I miss Vinny.

Though probably a bit more difficult, I expect something along the same lines as the men's basketball season approaches! Thank you!

G-R-E-A-T news (especially for those of us at work who are blocked from the camera views) and I got a good chuckle out of your post . uakronkid's concern is a valid one - I'd hate to lose our erection prematurely due to T-storms!

Hmmm ... so relaxed and a HUGE case of the munchies! Why do I have this image in my head of a couple of Can't "students" stumbling out of a smoke-filled van with said bird in tow? This reaks of Cheech and Chong!

Oh to have been a fly on the wall in that jury room. Would have also been interesting to see how the attorneys weeded out the jury pool to agree on the group they got. It seems like the vast majority of the people in this area could give a Rat's about the U of A. How do those of you on this board think a jury would have decided had this been tOSU vs. rat-hole/ASSfault owners in Columbus, OH? Any chance the jury selection process would have been a little harder for the plaintiff? I'll bet the jury would have GIVEN the property to tOSU and forced the property owners to be taken away in scarlet and gray. For whatever reason, it just seems like more people than not in this area look down their noses at 'Akron U.'

Damn it ... I sure wish I'd been given a chance to be on that jury.

Good: Any win over Can't State or OU. Acme-Zip games with my mom and a packed house ... too far and few in between. Warm fall days or nights watching the bugs swarm around the crappy lights and planes making their approaches for landing. Parachute jumpers delivering the game ball (one guy hurt his leg on a hard landing if I remember correctly; I don't think they cared much for the light poles either). ANY game that wasn't against a I-AA opponent. The windy game against Virginia Tech. Catching the Simon and Garfunkel concert back in '83 from the 50-yard line halfway up on the home side. The UA band marching through the open end of the stadium onto the field playing the fight song. Not being able to make the Army game. Making and throwing paper airplanes.Bad: Cracked/broken seats. Crumbling concrete. Losing the lead and game against Marshall a few years back. So few people showing up for games you could almost sit there and count them. Ugly: TROUGHS! (A variety of sizes to choose from!)

I'm with zippyrifle32 ... U of A is a good school academically and will only grow athletically with OUR support (each new class of students and Akron-area residents and leadership in general). U of A IS in our backyard, warts and all. Seems to me that WOULD make it our team, whether we like it or not. My hope is that someday the indifference we see and feel today locally (current/former students, residents, local newspaper, mayor) will be replaced by an ever-growing sense of pride as zippyrifle32 mentioned. Hopefully we're the ones on the bleeding edge of U of A's academic and athletic growth and those that follow benefit from our persistence, pain, and suffering.Always worth restating ... I think we can all agree that

They have this. As a season ticket holder from last year, if I get 2 people to sign up for the first year at ICS , I get a free t-shirt. If I get 5 people, I get a t-shirt, hat, and 2 tickets to the last game at the RB.For every new season ticket account referred, my name is placed in a drawing to win an all expenses (travel, hotel and game tickets) paid trip for two to the Sept. 20, 2008 game at Army. That being said...Who still needs season tickets and wants to refer me as their friend?Ya had me right up to '... their friend.' Sorry ...

Not sure if this is how it was calculated but here's how I came up with it ...2 points for a win = 45 wins x 2 = 90 points1 point for a tie = 7 ties x 1 = 7 points62 total games = max 124 pointsU of A soccer captured 97 out of a possible 124 points or .782.

Zeke Marshall Verbal commitment!
GoZips88 replied to joshgozips's topic in Akron Zips Basketball Recruiting
So are most of the centers who have played at Can't in recent years! Can't wait to watch Zeke changing shots or just plain swatting them away between 2009-2012, ESPECIALLY here, there or anywhere against Can't (and Pitt if we get the chance to knock them around a bit). -
I've enjoyed jury duty in the past and think it would be kinda fun to be on that one! No, I probably wouldn't make it through the jury selection process ... I'm too honest to sit there and tell the two attorneys and judge "Why, yes, I can be impartial and keep an open mind." I'd probably let out a big "GO ZIPS!" and be excused right then and there.

Seems like a really good place to put a new arena someday ...

A Msg from Zeke Marshall's MOM...

This verbal is simply huge ... I still can't believe it. Thank you and welcome Zeke and Family. GO ZIPS! is an understatement! I can't wait.
