:blink: Anybody else catch the ODU/VCU game tonight? Uh ... VCU likes to run just a WEEE little bit, they contest everything, hit the offensive and defensive boards hard, and generally play very up-tempo, playground-like ball. It's going to be VERY interesting to see how the refs call the game here in Akron. If they call it close, it will definitely favor Akron. If they let them play like they are tonight, ... ... it could be a long night for Akron, especially if Wood is still out or not anywhere near 100% (doubt it). Could be that it's a rivalry game but VCU looks pretty good to me. Like I said ... very athletic and tenacious. Without any inside game, I think they're going to give our guards all they can handle. Bardo had better make his five fouls five good ones. Chris McKnight is really going to have bring his 'A' game. Very entertaining game - fan/student support looks and sounds fantastic. Great environment.Maynor seems a bit whiney ...WOW - ODU strips the ball with a couple of seconds left to preserve a one-point win, 67-66. ODU missed a couple of free throws just prior to that. Would guess VCU fans wanted a foul call on the strip - may have a case there but it's water under the bridge. Kinda glad VCU took it on the chin - deflate them just a bit before they come to Akron. Don't want them to be too full of themselves. Good team that just lost a close game to their rival. Would be interested to hear how any others on this board see VCU. Great draw in the Bracket Buster ... too bad we're leaking so much oil right now.

I hate pulling for Can't but I want that bye.

Can of worms.If you are pro-gun control, these campus incidents are you WORST argument.Most campuses are gun free zones, and not only does this policy not stop people from going on shooting sprees, many people contend that gun free zones encourage it because there is no one else on campus concealing any personal protection to defend themselves with.My sentiments exactly (and I don't own any firearms).Killing, maiming, and taking one's own life as a "solution" to Life's disappointments, frustrations, problems and demons - wow ...What a world we live in today. Personal responsibility and regard for one's actions go by the wayside more and more every day. My heart and prayers go out to the families of everyone involved.

Typical MAC stuff last night with OU losing on the road at Toledo and BG losing at Eastern. Miami loses at Western in OT Tuesday night.The bye contenders are doing their best to help us stay in the hunt ofr a top-four finish. ROUGH road to a bye though unless we can get some things sorted out, win our home games and possibly steal another one on the road. Sure would like to get the BG game this Saturday - not confident at all we'll have much luck in Athens or (nose pointed up at 45-degree angle with emphasis on first syllable) OX-ferd. Really pains me to have to root for Can't on Saturday vs. OU (FSN @ 3PM). Wouldn't surprise me at all at this point if Buffalo managed to beat Miami at home on Saturday.

This fine example of sportsmanship would be my rehab poster child. Just the thought of Ham-N-Cheese doing his little dance and mouthing off instead of shaking hands at Can't would have me doing everything possible to be back in time for the Can't game. Hit the rehab hard, Wood. We'll see you back on the court whenever you're ready (hopefully Senior Night against Can't).

District - VCU's chances of leaving Akron with a 'W' just went up a bit with the announcement that Akron's Jeremiah Wood (13+ points; almost 8 rebounds) is out for 4 weeks with torn cartilage in his knee. It's been hard to find someone to step in just to give him a breather or two on the bench - now we've got to replace him altogether during a pretty tough stretch of games. I know I've got those 'ESPN 360' sign-up instructions around here someplace ...

We're pretty banged up right now and just not playing very good basketball at times. The next two games SHOULD be W's but you never can tell in the MAC. Chances are our RPI (for what it's worth ... not much actually) will drop even if we win both. Ball State (285) and Northern Illinois (293) are pretty bad at least as far as RPI is concerned.

Why?Whoops ... I meant "knee." Dambrot was talking on the post-game about Wood going out of the game early last night due to a knee problem. Frenchy was asking how serious it was. Dambrot seemed to feel that the knee was just bruised and that there wasn't a structural problem (my words) i.e. ligament or cartilage. Guess we'll find out in a couple of days.

Dambrot just said that Wood's need is bruised, not "hurt." Hopefully he'll be able to play in Muncie.

CMU took care of BGSU at BG 80-77 in OT.

Oh well. Misery loves company - at least OU went down. Looks like BGSU may be going down as well. Just get me to the bye in Cleveburg.
