As I recall the last time the Bobcats came to town in their fancy buses, Akron grabbed them by the throat like Zippy does in the "Thriller" piece and tied a nice bow-tie in the shape of an 'L' around their neck. We also did a pretty good number on Miami this year and have the only MAC win on the road so far. Let's see, what else ... we took Dayton to 2 overtimes, are the defending MAC champion, beat Can't State three times last year and lost the MAC tournament on a prayer. Yeah, I'd say it's quiet time for them right now. Different story when we head their way but not a whole lot of room to talk smack with them coming our way this week.

Yeah, I agree Z-Pouch. It's the only game this year with an oddball time. I hope as many of the regulars as possible decide to make the effort to attend, even if it is only until half-time. Help support the Zips to a nice half-time cushion and let them finish it out. I'm a firm believer that a big, raucous crowd can really make a difference. Though only 1500 were able to make it to the OU game last year, the ones who were there were loud and directed enough of their energy towards Bubba that Bubba and the Bubbacats just wilted away. Nice blow-out win at home and I wouldn't mind seeing that repeated again this year in front of whatever the ESPNU crowd happens to be.

Agree - Miami IS pissed off with 2 MAC losses. Glad we're not the ones heading to Oxford Thursday night.OU may be in a surly mood as well IF we take care of business Thursday night. OU will also have 2 MAC losses when they welcome Can't into the Convo Saturday night IF we hand them another 'L.' The "in service" day for teachers on Friday means all four of us (wife, two kids, and I) will be there. Good chance only half of us would have gone (my son and I) if it weren't for the day off school. My daughter got all excited this evening when we all realized that school day Friday wasn't going to be a problem. Even she (9-year-old) knows what a big game this is for the Zips. All in all, put me down for normal 7PM start times for basketball games and 1PM starts on Saturday afternoon for football. It's cooler and dark for 6PM starts and I'd rather be out in the sun as well in the relatively warmer temps. The Tuesday/Thursday games screw up my college football fan biorhythms too.

Hmmm .... late game, game on TV .... could result in a few less OU fans in the stands. You guys normally travel pretty well and have a good following up this way. 11PM end-of-game is WAY past Muffy and Buffy's bed time. Can't wait for Bubba ... let's keep it rolling Akron!

Yeah, I'm getting the same thing. I wonder if the stream file (rtsp://stream.buffalo.edu/broadcast/athletics.rm) just isn't there because the game hasn't started yet. I'm going to keep trying. Sure hope it starts to work. I was looking forward to watching the game.

Totally agree. I like the Big 10/ACC thing as well. Without looking at the current SOS numbers for conferences like the A10 and MVC, I would think it would help SOS and prep for the conference portion of the schedule for all MAC schools other than maybe an Ohio or Miami who had insane schedules this year.

Would love to get Wright State in the Bracket Buster game if for no other reason than to stick it in their shorts for not coming to Akron willingly in a 1-for-1. Candy-arses ...

My mom's advice when dealing with situations like this has always been "Kill'em with kindness." Though I too think "Get that crap outta here!" when I see OSU garb at Akron events, letting them know you appreciate their interest in the Zips and pointing in the direction of where Akron apparel can be purchased probably works a WHOLE lot better in the long run.

Ditto here. 1-for-1 unless we play some big boys in a neutral-site tournament. I've got confidence in KD that, over time, he'll get the schedule worked out so we get the home schedule we want that includes some bigger-name (maybe not the biggest) schools. Wintrop and Dayton already look good on the home schedule next year. Wyoming and UIC were also good for the program. I think we need to give KD and Mack some time to build the program over the long haul, including the schedule.
