i am totally down with the new stadium and love it but since when is 7 miles from campus make a place out in bfe? low attendance is from the shitty teams faust and owens gave us. the rubber bowl has nothing to do with poor showings of fans. if the rubber bowl is the reason no one shows up for games, massillon v. mckinnley wouldn't sell out. every time st. iggy comes to the bowl it's a sell out. yes, a new stadium is needed but i promise you crowds of 1000, like against liberty a few years ago, :macc: if there are no wins. cleveland browns stadium had a lot of orange seats on tv this year because that team is an embarrasment. as long as jd is here, we'll be fine but if we don't get a good coach after he moves on to a bigger school, no stadium is going to help us. by the way, if jd would happen to stay with us for the long haul, no doubt in my mind that stadium would be called jd brookhart field twenty years from now. stay with us jd!!!!!

i will say that i like the free souvenirs one can get at dix stadium. those chunks of concrete that fall from that piece of crap are nice. plus i feel safe being able to see the rebar sticking out the side of the stadium, so i know it's well built. funny how there has never once been a sellout in the prestigious history of dix stadium but the largetst crowd ever was a thursday night in 2004 when akron embarrassed Can't in their own pile of rubble. i just wish that the mac center would've been called the cox center, keeping in theme with dix stadium as a tribute to all Can't students and alumni

seems to me that we'd not waste money on an indoor practice facility if there was any shot in hell of a domed stadium. the thought of a dome is a fun day dream but forget about it. it ain't happening.

i think you're making a big mistake if you count jackson out. he has good size, great quickness and a laser for an arm. which other qb was recruited by a big ten school (michigan state)? none.

this class is awesome. size, speed, and mayhem. and that's just the linemen. i got to see the recruit tape at the jar and have to say this class has the potential to top last year's. we have guys who run 10.8 100m playing linebacker, a safety who was timed at 4.37 in the 40 at the ohio state camp. a center who in high school pulls and wipes people out. this is the biggest, fastest, strongest class to ever come to akron by far. tons of potential here. JD's staff did one helluva job. :macc:

speaking of the big east, it is interesting that the big east indoor track championships this year will be held in akron's indoor facility. people at the university said they have no plans to move to the big east but this is something to wonder about.

akron is definately on the rise, surpassing ohio u in football a while ago and now in basketball. the zips will bury ohio in football next season and will beat them in hoops next month and in the MAC tourney in march if ohio u makes it that far. as joe willie said "write it down, i guarentee it." ohio u's recruting class this year is akron rejects, like that wide out who knew he couldn't compete with our new receivers. i said it before andi'll say it again, ohio u is akron's bitch. football :macc: and soon to be basketball :macc:

i'm kinda curious how much a season ticket is going to be and if they are going to try and slap a PSL onto it to help pay for the stadium, if and when we get one.....i'd also like to know if there are any plans to expand athletic teams such as wrestling, for example. :macc:

on the contrary, i think miami's stadium is the envy of the MAC. very nice scoreboard/jumbo tv, nice big concession area under the stands, incredible press box, nicely done brick and steel fencing around the stadium with plenty of space to move around. top top it off if i remember correctly,they had natural grass which is always prefered......as far as the JAR goes, i think copley or firestone high schools have similar basketball facilities. i have to admit though, i do kinda like the intimate atmosphere of it when it's packed for a Can't State game. where is all the money going to come from for these new facilities? how much more can tuition go up? i don't see too many big companies lining up at the moment to be zip corporate sponsors. sure, we have papa john's and airtran but goodyear and firestone are a financial mess. don't hold your breath for firestone field at goodyear yard anytime soon. :macc:

forget about an at large birth. this is the MAC and we're akron. we don't have the respect YET from those who don't know us. we may be very deserving but that won't mean much. besides, we're going to win the MAC. :macc: in football, soon to be :macc: in basketball

hell, with all the hype i was expecting ohio u to be getting the death sentence from the NCAA stealing bubba away from us in some back alley agreement. i still liked the story though and thought all involved talked as candidly as they could. good story, bad hype.

i thought the gold uniforms were to tie in with the "gold rush" promotion for the last 6 home games this year. i like them and love the "A" on the sides of the shorts. if they really want to make them retro, put the guys in john stockton nut busters and make them pull their socks up to their knees a la michael cooper.

don't forget the ass kicking we took from miami this year in white jerseys and, you guessed it, blue pants. :macc:

can't have too many tight ends and it looks like we're loaded with them. kaz is a monster in the making and merce is going to be a good one too. if cruz can get playing time with these two, i'll be very impressed. :macc:
