  1. I like this addition as its a winnable game and a D-IA opponent. We needed a home game as well...it fits. :macc:
  2. I should also include that the addition of Temple and SIU would extend the MAC's geographic representation to eastern Pennsylvania and further solidify its presence in the state of Illinois.
  3. I've read discussions indicating that the MAC is looking to add member schools. Anyone have opionions as to which schools would be best to invite?I think Temple and Southern Illinois would be best. Both universities are public institutions and some notable perspectives on both of them are subsequently presented below.Temple's football program is in shambles although we've already accepted this program into the MAC. However, the rest of the school's athletic programs seem to be quality and its academics are commensurate with those offered at UA. Temple enrolls ~28,000 students on its main and medical campuses and also has international campuses in Tokyo and Rome.Southern Illinois's basketball team speaks for itself and has a quality D-IAA football program that would have to be converted over to I-A for the transition. In terms of student population and academic offerings, SIU is comparable to UA. I couldn't find enrollment figures for SIU's dual main campuses in Carbondale and Edwardsville. It should be noted that both of these universities have medical schools whereas no current member of the MAC does (no, NEOUCOM and MCO don't count). Both universities also have dentistry programs and Temple has a school of pharmacy. :macc:
  4. I'd like to see a home-and-home series with with UA and Creighton/Drake/Northern Illinois/Southern Illinois/George Mason/Drexel/Hofstra. :macc:
  5. Analyst,Kick-Ass post!...I couldn't agree more!...We need to get the fluff out of our men's basketball and football schedules as the men's soccer team has already done. Only Can't State schedules games against I-AA opponents for the fact of saving face (their only win in football for 2005). We definitely don't want to be like them!I'll be very disappointed if our 5th home football game is against a I-AA opponent. The best way to shed the mid-major label is to have a schedule full of major schools. A couple wins and respectable play are also a must. :macc:
  6. Our TBA game better be against a D-IA opponent! It looks bad on the team and university when we bring in a low profile D-IAA team and anhialate them. Not only that, but it kills fan interest as well.Should I mention that Can't's only win last year was against a D-IAA school?
  7. HS kids reply to something as being "cool" shouldn't be a motivation for changing our logos. The typical high school mentality of things being cool and being concerned with poularity is not relevant in the real world. College sports is rooted in tradition, which they would have no clue about. If we continue to win and improve our stature, then any logo we put on our helmets will be regarded as "cool."
  8. Way to go Romeo...Zips made it respectable, other than a really close finish or a win, that's all we can ask for...they didn't give up. That shows we have a lot of character and short of winning, that's the most important thing for earning respect.
  9. Not bad considering we didn't rebound, shot a low percentage, and Romeo was the only one who stepped up and played really big tonight.Good season guys!...Next year will be even better!...Fear the Roo!
  10. OK, now its over...jacket's on, but I'm staying 'til the end for the sake of being a good fan.
  11. At this point, I think we're just out of gas.
  12. No excuse for a shot clock violoation...especially when you're down 9 with nothing to lose.
  13. Travis is having a HUGE game!...Go Romeo!
  14. I know we can make this close!...Imagine what it would be if we could rebound OR make a decent shot percentage.
  15. Here we go...4 minutes is a long time!
  16. Let's make a run and maintain our dignity regardless of outcome!
  17. I just wish I would see the team work some more offense when we get down as opposed to panicking and hoisting up a ton of 3's.But yes, great season...we're moving in the right direction!Looking forward to soccer and football now...it's going to be a long 5 months!
  18. Looks like Travis is about the only one that has brought his A game tonight. I just want to see it be respectable at the end...let's close it to within 10.
  19. Tonight, the difference is rebounding and 3 pt shooting %. We could really use Jeremiah Wood tonight...Hopefully, that's a big way in which the team will improve next year.
  20. For those of you wanting a real-time box score...http://www.gocreighton.com/sport_stats/live/mbb/xlive.htmLet's go Zips!
  21. I've been saying all game that if we heat up, its going to be a close finish!
  22. If the Zips can heat up shooting, they'll make it close.
  23. We were down against Can't and Temple at halftime and didn't play a good first half...if we come out of half much the same as the first, we're going to have problems...if not, it could be very competitive down the stretch. Whatever the outcome, I want it to be respectable.
  24. 35-24 Creighton with 2:42 left according to ESPN.com
  25. Keep in mind how the Temple game started for us!
