  1. Soccer season should also be notable for any Zips fan as the men's team will quite possibly briing UA its first ever National Championship in the next couple years!
  2. I don't know, but would love to. I think we have a great shot at the national championship the next two or three years and would hate to miss most of the games because I live in Pittsburgh. Given modern technology, I should be given the option to participate as a fan from afar.As always,
  3. I'll never hesitate to second the notion!
  4. Win and loss predictions are usually inaccurate and thus, are irrelevant...this says it all:"If all things come together and the Zips get the play needed from all of their veterans, they're not going to need a miracle last second pass to win their second straight championship."I couldn't agree more.
  5. I think we've got a shot at the national championship this year...if so, i'm going to the final four!...With football and soccer starting soon, who wouldn't be excited about UA athletics?
  6. Is Central Michigan really going to be so good that everyone so far has had us losing to them?...I beg to differ.9-2-06 - @ Penn State L (48-31)...competitive, but too much to overcome9-9-06 - @ N.C. State W(31-30)...tight game...we win on a last second field goal validating our new kicker9-16-06 - @ Central Michigan W(28-14)...pay back for the disappointment at home last year9-23-06 - North Texas W(42-10)...not as competitive as most think9-30-06 - @ Can't State W(38-13)...does this still count as a D-I win?10-7-06 - @ Cincinnati W(28-14)...bad BCS team or not, this will be competitive10-21-06 - Miami W(24-21)...Getsy engineers a game winning drive10-28-06 - @ Toledo W(21-13)...we're prepared and play our best game of the season11-4-06 - Bowling Green W(42-31)...sold out Rubber Bowl...our offense has emerged and is too much to handle11-9-06 - Buffalo W(38-10)...this was a win before the season even started...another sold out Rubber Bowl11-16-06 - @ Ohio L(10-24)...we lose focus towards the end of the season and injuries catch up to us...our one let down of the season11-24-06 - Western Michigan W(28-10)...gaining momentum into the MAC Championship game in front of a sold out rubber bowlMAC Chapionship...(34-31) win over Toledo...why not?...we beat NIU twice last year!Motor City Bowl...(28-24) win over Iowa...a shocking win in front of a sold out, zips dominated crowd12-2 (7-1), ranked Top 20...rumors abound that Brookheart is leaving for the head coaching position with a BCS program
  7. Cincinatti will be that BCS school that we knock off! I'd say we have a 50/50 chance against NC State as well.
  8. After further thought and keeping in mind the very similar Julie Wright scenario, I can't help but draw an analogy between a new dominant lion coming into a pride and killing the cubs that aren't of his birth line. Is Mack Rhoads the new king of the pride or are these two situations isolated incidents temporarly brought together by coincidence?
  9. What else would you expect from a Can't State alum?
  10. Word on the street is that Can't State is probably going to lose this recruit to either Hoban or St. V
  11. Does anyone know how we fair among MAC schools in the Director's Cup standings?...Have we received points for anything other than men's soccer?
  12. I heard Louisville pays well for successful UA coaches. What a poor career move on her part!
  13. I beg to differ. If the Big East splits between schools featuring both basketball and football versus those with just basketball, they'll be looking for new members. UA and UT are obvious schools to be considered and don't think the administration of either wouldn't jump on the chance to be part of a more prestigious and financially lucrative conference. However, I do realize the progress that has been made since I began my tenure at UA (Fall '98) and in the meantime am proud that we of UA are :macc: And of course, who could forget that
  14. Anyone know how we fair in the standings for earning the Reese and Jacoby Trophies from the MAC? They go to the most successful men's and woman's athletic programs in the league based on performance in the MAC Championships for all sports. I would imagine UA is in contention for both. These would be huge accomplishments for the athletic department and the university. Just think, things are only going to get better in subsequent years too! Both would be great to have on a resume when the Big East Conference goes looking for new members. :macc:
  15. "Miami of Ohio may be the cradle of coaches, but the entire MAC is billing itself as the Conference of Quarterbacks. The heir apparent to the legacy of Ben Roethlisberger, Byron Leftwich, Charlie Frye, et al, is Luke Getsy of Akron, who threw for 3,455 yards but had an efficiency rating of only 118.1 last fall. With 18 returning starters, the Zips should be better than last season's 7-6 team but may not have a much better record. Opening on the road against Penn State and NC State will test any quarterback."
  16. Nice addition Zippyrifle32!Hey Gates, did you even earn your degree from Can't?I find it interesting that he has no comments on our academic superiority.
  17. UA doesn't even have Woman's Golf you moron! Hence, one of the few advantages Can't will have over UA in future athetics.
  18. How does a Can't fan spell MEATHEAD?...A-N-T-O-N-I-O G-A-T-E-S Worst athletics programs in the MAC my ass!Football, Men's Soccer, Woman's Cross Country, Woman's Indoor Track...did I miss one? :macc: 2006:Football, Men's Basketball, Men's Soccer, Woman's Cross Country, Woman's Indoor Track, Woman's Outdoor Track, Softball :macc:
  19. The Elite Eight appearance for Can't was 4 years ago making it recent history. I notice Antonio didn't respond to my comments regarding academics!
  20. And how many academic programs does Can't have that are nationally ranked?...I rest my case! UA 2, Can't State 0Antonio might have a point if Can't's MAC winning athetic programs were making an impact at the national level, but they aren't...unlike UA's men's soccer team.
  21. I encourage everyone to slam the guy who wrote this via his email address at the bottom of the article. I've provided it here for everyone's convenience.snsports@salemnews.net :macc:
  22. Give Coach Porter a break!...The Spring soccer season is the equivalent of preseason...it doesn't matter! The incoming recruiting class looks great and nearly all players return from last year's team. We should be in position to to compete for a national championship for at least the next couple of years. With regard to JD, he should be the highest paid coach in the MAC. It may be too early to be thinking about this, but perhaps his new salary should be based on the middle tier of the Big East? I see UA making the jump to the Big East in the net five years.
  23. Ouch!...only 4 home games. At least one of them is against Can't!
