  1. With the season of the highest expectations ever at its peak, I am interested in knowing the reaction of the hardcore fans if, God forbid, things don't go our way. I am not saying that things will not go well, but a risk analysis never hurts any one. So how would you react in the worst case scenario [edit: i.e: if we don't go dancing]?
  2. Don't take this as a jab against KD, but I don't think that he would have done much better had he taken that job. Taking on a team as bad as Duquesne was, in a conference as competitive as the A10, I don't think even Phil Jackson could have won more in his first year.
  3. This is unbelievable! was Borrowski really trying to argue with the guy? what a character.
  4. That's why winning at Ohio will be huge. We NEED at least one top 100 away win.
  5. That is a great question.
  6. The committee has a good argument in that the Zips can't win away games. So far, our best away win is @Can't which is not a good away win. That's why winning @Athens is going to be huge.
  7. While I can understand the frustration with Melo, you have to see the potential in him and you have to believe that his future is bright. Deji is the one I can't figure. What does KD see in him? He's too slow to defend a PG and has an average of around .002 points per game. Why does he come off the bench before Reggie? Or even better question: why does he come off the bench at all?
  8. This (today and against CMU) is the worst basketball I've seen Akron play in the Dambrot era. You would think that we play a bad game after a big win such as Ohio but we are even worse today. It is embarrassing to think that the rest of the nation can see this.
  9. Akron's weak point is now that they don't have a quality road win. Our best road win is @ Can't state (192 RPI). Other than that, we lost to Detroit and CCU university. In order to overcome that, we need OU to beat Belmont so that we MAY have a quality road win IF we beat them in Athens. If that happens, together with a win against NDSU and 16-0 in the MAC, we can start thinking about an at large bid. ... So, there is a chance.
  10. Remember when KD used to say about Can't State: "That is the team we are trying to become, we are trying to model our team to be like them" ?
  11. Sign me up for a car load of 5 fans.
  12. WOW! Zipmeister! I hope, for the sake of justice, that you're not a lawyer.
  13. I don't think that people who watch zips games and invest their time and money to support this team and come on to this board to share their opinions with passion can be Zeke haters or nay sayers. Being a fan of a team or a player doesn't mean that you shouldn't criticize them and push them to reach their maximum potential. We all want Zeke and the Zips to kick butts and be #1 and no one is happier than the hardcore fans on this board when Zeke does well. Love and Respect.
  14. I've been tracking the progress of our RPI and Pomeroy rating since the Penn state game. I have the results in a spreadsheet with a little graph. While you can't really see the dammage done by losing the first game, you can definitely see that the loss in Detroit really hurt us bad. Also, losing to Creighton improved our RPI while winning against Texas Southern and Coppin State had a negative effect. Here's hoping that one day, we will not have any OOC game the winning of which hurts the RPI.
  15. I hear your frustration with the treatment of students Zach and I believe something can be done about it, but it is not really the only problem. If the regular season games were meaningful, people will come and not be too worried about the type and location of their seats . Look at soccer games, people (students and others) are willing to STAND in the rain and the snow to watch the soccer team because they see value in every game because every game counts. Our basket ball team on the other hand, starts the season by laying a few eggs draining all the excitement and the chance for an at large bid. And then, the coach will tell us that it is ok because in the end all what matters is the 3 games in Cleveland. So guess what? outside the few hundred faithfuls, people will only watch the three games in Cleveland.
  16. So Reggie McAdams comes from his break out game at NIU: 6/6 for a perfect 100% FG. He comes in the game for a few minutes, he takes a 3 and hits it, grabs two rebounds and a steal. No turn overs and no missed defensive assignment. What does KD do? let the kid rot on the bench !!! Did I miss him getting hurt or something?
  17. Per the RPI formula, it is better to play a team with a great record beating cream puffs than a team with a crappy record even if they lost to great teams. Your opponents winning% is worth 50% while the opponents' opponent's winning% is only 25%. Just saying.
  18. It is great to see Zeke playing at this level. This is why there is additional pressure on the team to achieve something. This is our year. This must be the year when we do something great.
  19. I couldn't agree more. PG in basket ball, QB in football, and GK in soccer and hockey are unique positions where 3-deep is needed. You can have 4 bigs for the PF/C positions or 2 wings for the SF/SG positions and you can say that you have depth there. If one of your bigs is hurt, you can go into the game and split the PF/C 80 minutes among your other 3 bigs and you're fine. For the PG, if one of your guys is hurt (Alex earlier this year), you still need a starter and a backup for the game. Hence the need for 3. Now the problem when you have 3 good PG and all 3 are healthy, you want to maintain some sort of rythym while keeping them all happy.
  20. After tonight's game, I am so glad I used the keyword "yet" in my previous post. I was absolutely amazed watching tree's ability to handle the ball and dribble smoothly and slash to the basket. All what he needs is a consistent jumper and maybe in a couple of years tree will have the skills to play the 3 in the NBA.
  21. This team has traditionally been: Live by the three and die by the three. Today, the three couldn't kill the zips. It is great to see a team that can win on a night when the three is not falling. Zeke, Pat, and Tree all had a great overall game. Harney had a great "offensive" game. However, as far as Xs and Os, It still worries me that, in crunch time, when we need a basket, we rarely can get one.
  22. The Math still doesn't work for me. Zeke, Walsh, Gilliam, and Egner will be freeing 4 scholarships. We have an incoming class of 5 + Forsythe needing 6 scholarships. We are two schollies in the red.
  23. Does that mean that we have to kiss the coaches shows and the MAC coverage good bye? Thanks FSOH!
  24. Since the Athletic Department reported it on the roster page.
