  1. I really wanted to go but every thing about this trip is wrong! The game on Friday is at 5 pm so you have to take the day off to make it there on time. The Sunday game starts at 7pm so you won't make it back till Monday morning. On top of that, Saturday is the home season opener for ND football which means that you need to shell around $400 for a hotel room for the week end
  2. Who was Caleb's assistant who left for a head coaching position a couple of years ago (to VCU, I think?) What do you guys think of him? I am only thinking of him because he is already a head coach and was trained by Caleb.
  3. So we go to Creighton and beat them on their own turf (considering the stolen goal) but they are still 4 spots ahead of us? We all know what the score would have been if the game was in Akron and the refs knew how to call a game.
  4. ...Good think Andre Parker wasn't a Zip
  5. Although a tie in the NCAA books, that was a win in mine. If you see at what point in time that lineman raised his flag to steal our golden goal, you know it was not a bad call, but a horrible one. Anyways, this team reminds me of the 2009 and 2010 teams. This is a national championship team in the making and Caleb wants to make his last year worthwhile.
  6. Well, give him a break... coach told him: If you ever touch the ball, run forward. The kid is only a sophomore and directions are only taught in grad school at Can't state.
  7. Ariel Hoffman Asdrubal Cabrera
  8. Local: Swenson Chains: Five Guys
  9. I am not a recruiting expert nor do I have any insights on how things are done in Akron. However, my understanding is that boosters (Lebron in this case) are not allowed to contact recruits. As in HS kids before they become zips. I don't know if the NCAA states that you cannot bring motivation speakers or 1 day coaches or training partners to work with the team. With that understanding, I don't see any reason why we have to pick between scenarios A and B because Lebron does not talk to recruits anyways. They (recruits) simply are attracted to Akron because of the prospects that if/when they come here they MAY run into him in the gym every now and then.
  10. Wow! Talk about the best news I heard this summer. Question remains: where is the scholly coming from? I can see the rotation being as follows: PG: Rico, Melo SG: Walsh, Justice(?) SF: CG, Q PF: Tree, Harney C: Zeke, Forsythe RS: McAdams, Kretzer Odd men out: Egner and Deji
  11. At this point, It doesn't matter if KD made the right decision staying here or not, it doesn't matter if Duquesne is a better place than Akron or not, all what matters is that he decided to stay here for whatever reason. So hy on earth is he making those comments? will these comments help him with recruiting? how about ticket sales next year?? It seems that Lebron James and KD have the same PR advisors.
  12. NOOOOO!! That's a week before thanksgiving. I won't be able to take time off.
  13. As sad and disrespectful that is, the Aeros are not the cause of the problem, they are the syndromes. The Aeros doesn't give a damn who's local and who's not, they will do whatever puts butts in the seats. The best reaction to this insult would be, ideally, for Akron fans to wear blue and gold on Aug 18 and outnumber the scarlett and gray to deliver a message. But we all know that this will never happen because if we plan it, a total of 15-20 people will wear blue and gold and go unnoticed. The second best thing is for a lot of people to contact the aeros on the link above and respectfully ask for a zips day.
  14. If KD wants to keep the pattern of bringing in a PG every two years (Humpty-->Rico-->Melo-->?) I highly recommend getting started early on Mathias. He is only a sophomore but it is not a bad idea to get started early.
  15. Illinois wants a minority coach. They are under a lot of pressure because all their football and basketball coaches have been white. So Groce's chances in UC are slim to none. And that, my friend, is equal opportunity
  16. Surrounded by a sea of scarlet and gray the whole day at work, right before the beginning of the game I was saying to myself: Why do I root against OSU. What do I have against them? It only took 5 minutes for me to get the answer from my TV screen. The CBS sideline reporter: with those teams being only 100 miles away from one another, we were wondering why they played each other only once in the last 50 years. The CBS color commentator: I was asking myself this same question. The CBS sideline reporter: well, we asked the Cincy AD and he said that he would welcome the opportunity to play OSU any time and thinks that it will be great for both programs. But when we asked OSU's AD his response was: "We are happy with our existing out of conference schedule." Thank you for the reminder Gene Smith. Win or lose, OSU SUCKS!
  17. ...even when he can make twice as much in that elsewhere place! I hope the Rams fans appreciate what they have. Not you District Baller, I mean the casual bandwagon fans.
  18. Miami, WMU, CMU are a mess. NIU, EMU, Ball state: not enough talent. But making the best of what they have. Can't and Buffalo will be rebuilding. Decent but not contenders. Akron, Ohio, and Toledo: Contenders. BG: have no idea where to classify this team. As far as the contenders go: Ohio: if Groce, Cooper, and every one else return, this is their conference to lose. In the case if Groce leaves, they're just another contender depending on who replaces him. If Cooper leaves (wishful thinking), the bobcats fall back to the rebuilding category with Can't and Buffalo. Akron: Great talent, great depth, but so they were for a while. Somehow, however, they always find a way to under achieve. Toledo: depending on their incoming class and the off season development of their current players, watch out!
  19. Gigantic letdown! And who's fault is that? Instead of saying that missing the NCAA tournament should be an additional incentive to motivate this team to win the NIT to prove that they belong in the tournament, we're coming up with additional excuses?
  20. Could have been us? you're waaaay off my friend. Remember that we couldn't beat a 4 seed in the NIT? you expect us to beat a 4 seed in the NCAA? I agree with your argument. We do have, not as much, but more talent than OU but we poop in our pants in big games. We just play scared in the big stage. What's even more troubling is that we seem to be satisfied and happy where we are. Coach, players, administration, and even fans. Instead of pointing at the issue and fixing it, we are busy finding excuses: "We are great, but... 1 - Waaaa our fans don't fill up the JAR 2 - Waaaa no major team will come play us at the JAR 3 - Waaaa why are we not considered in at large conversations 4 - Waaaa we are the 16th youngest team in the nation OU did the job without any seniors on their team. Some people get the job done, some others enjoy coming up with excuses.
  21. The gentleman with the screen name Gozips used to be a frequent poster on this board until has account was suspended for a month (if i remember correctly). I tried looking for him at the Q without much luck. I hope he is doing all right and since I don't have any way to contact him, any info from other fellow posters him will be appreciated. Thanks.
  22. This is the problem with the Akron fan base. Their expectations and their PAR are too low. The mentality is: "We should be happy as long as we're better than the rest of the mac, or most of the mac teams". Who cares about Can't or Ohio? KD has been talking about being the Gonzaga of the east since he came here 8-9 years ago. We talk about being a top midmajor a Butler, a VCU...that's our par not Can't and Ohio.
