I am VERY eager to read LumberJack's comments about this game.

Between coastal carolina and today, Akron deserves the award for the most embarrassing way to finish a tied game with the ball. The one was a no-shot and the other being a 3 point air ball by your center. Saying this, with Ok State center fouled out, I don't see a reason not to win this in OT.

We do that EVERY SINGLE FREAKIN YEAR...we talk the big talk and we can't walk the walk. Austin Peay, Valpo tournament, coastal carolina, etc... There will always be injuries and suspensions and whatever, you either come prepared to play or you don't. We never seem to be ready to start the season. Bad personnel decisions, missing loads of free throws and tons of turnovers. What does KD spend the pre season practice doing?

Nah...but they're the only excuse we can use now.

That can't be it. There is no such a thing as an exam that can't be re-scheduled. Unexcused absence may lead to class failure but excused absence may not. If you're in the hospital or had a court date, you won't fail. Next question is: what is an excused absence? and I can report to you that in my DIII school, athletic commitment IS an excused absence and it is documented in the books whether professors like it or not... so it better be in a DI school like Akron.

A random thought, not really related to the game against Malone. How many Mac teams would trade their whole teams for only our Freshmen and sophomores? Think about it in a different way: How many Mac teams would trade their starting 5 for: Harney, Forsythe, McAdams, Melo, and Tree? My answer is all of them except Ohio. And those guys mostly come off the bench for us.

Holly Forsythe! What a nice soft touch and amazing footwork! He just gave a Dragon deffender a serb-like: now you see me...now you don't spin move and scored on him. We must defend better though.

Reggie is not as fast as Quincy. He also appears a bit larger with his wider shoulders (compared to Q). That's why I went with the Linhart model.

Barring injury situations, with both Rico and Melo on the team, I do not see the need for Reggie to play PG. I know that he is very capable of running the position but being able to do something and actually doing it are two different things. My prediction of Reggie is that he will be the new Nate Linhart. Mark my word.

Is the only thing we can see out of the media day today the 7:15 youtube clip ? I was hoping to find a link for the whole event recorded.

Am I the only one who was impressed with Abdul Salam on the wing opposing Yedlin? He looked nervous at times and it shows that he was only playing his 2 career game? but the man will be a great asset for the future

You have to think bigger...you can't think any other way. I know that we always start the season with great optimism but this year we are starting with unbelievable potential to go with that optimism. Going back the memory lane, I can't believe that only a few years ago the great 6-6 Jeremiah Wood played center for our Zips. This year, we have a 6-6 who may be playing the SG position. Similarly, only a few years back, we had a guard rotation of Ronnie Steward, Humpty Hitchens, Darryl Roberts, and Nick Dials (all under 6-1). I remember how excited I was when the 6-9 Mike Bardo, committed to Akron. I knew he had no skills coming out of high school, but hey... he was 6-9. This team includes 4 players who are 6-9 or more...and with skills. I remember how excited I was watching the athleticism of the 6-1 Middleton running the court. It is hard to believe that we have a similarly athletic Gilliam only 6-6 and with a great jumper. You definitely have to think bigger with this team. This is not a midmajor, even some major teams don't have our size. In order for us to not make it to the dance (Mac Champs or at large), one of those must happen: 1 - get killed with major injuries all season long 2 - Bo Borrowski calls every single game for this team 3 - Major issues in the locker room 4 - KD and his staff totally drop the ball.

If TB is so loyal to kids he didn't recruit. Imagine how he will treat his own.

MDZip: If I tell you that a certain team (not our beloved Zips) lost to arkansas little rock, Illinois-chicago, Miami-OH (twice), Ohio, and Toledo. Their best win in the whole season was Can't state. They could not win neither their conferences regular season nor the tournament, Would you give them an at large bid? Like others have mentioned, The Zips 2006-2007 deserved an NIT but that's about it.

The MAC does not get an at large bid when it does not deserve one, which was the case over the last umpteen years. If you believe otherwise, show me a MAC team that deserved one and was not given.

Trying to figure out a formation: PG: Rico (S), Betancourt Wing: Gilliam (S), Walsh (S), McAdams, Deji, Justice, and Kretzer Post: Zeke (S), Tree (S), Forsythe, Harney, and Egner. WOW! How is KD going to manage minutes to all those guys at the wing position? at least one of of the wing freshmen MUST red shirt. With 2 star seniors starting at the position, 4 subs is just way too many. At the post positions, with the quality of the 4 other players, and unless he had a monster off season and significantly improved his game, I am afraid Egner will be limited to garbage minutes.

I feel that the problem is in homecoming. Just like the alum band was invited to perform in part of the band show, an alum coach from the recent history was invited to coach in the second half. That's the only explanation I have

That's true but our program is in a much better position today compared to where we were seven years ago.

I am planning to be there with 3 others.
