  1. Well, it's not like he's a college graduate, or anything.
  2. Just out of curiosity, how many does Green's stadium seat?
  3. Folks, some of you might not get the sense of where I'm coming from here, but I can remember when we hoped to be ranked above Philadelphia Textile and Cheyney State. Keith Dambrot, you've come a long way, baby!
  4. Now either GP got his "K"s confused, or this system has now morphed into changing ANY K-school to "Can't State".
  5. I think Tree (and the Zips) should add to this new marketing ploy by auctioning off his used socks (he's not going use them again, after all) to benefit some Akron area charity. I think it would be a hit!
  6. Where do you have to go to vote? It sends you to Facebook, but there's no link to vote from. What's the proper link?
  7. Coach Marshall in the Stands also got her share of Air Time last night, and I was impressed! Keep up the pressure!
  8. Tom Hamilton? You mean Lee (Hacksaw) Hamilton?
  9. Whodathunkit? After the last coach...or the last five...six...
  10. It seems that it only snows in Tucson when the PGA tour is in town, and the World Match Play tourney is there. Nice shots of Rory McIlroy & Co. loading their clubs into cars in the snow after play was called. I noticed the addition of Marcus Hahnemann in goal for SSFC. Is he ahead of the Swiss GK from last year? That guy had a darn good season -- if they're together, that must give Seattle the best tandem in the US.
  11. BeeGee 6/14 on threes to Akron's 4 of 11.
  12. Back-to-back threes by Akron 31-31.
  13. NO -- but it certainly fits with the Peter Principle.
  14. I think you meant Jae'Sean Tate. He's just a junior, BTW. Here's the story from the losing side.
  15. Great article! But...Is Keith really only 5-6??
  16. I have mentioned earlier that I do not enjoy the over-Anglicization of football on American airwaves. The idea that an English accent makes the game more authentic sets my blood boiling. That's one reason why I really enjoyed the Fox Soccer broadcast with Gus Johnson today. Good to see not just that Fox is paying their own people, rather than re-broadcast the Sky Sports (or whoever it belongs to) simulcast when the game begins -- but that an American voice is calling play-by-play. I thought Johnson was completely reliable as far as his knowledge of the game went. I was actually more concerned going in about Warren Barton. Barton, however did a great job of being second fiddle. When he first arrived on Fox Soccer Channel he had a propensity for being overbearing, and downright arrogant toward his broadcast partners. I hope Eric Wynalda played a part in taming him, and that EW gets next shot at the broadcast booth. Did others watch? Whattidja think?
  17. I noticed this statement on the GoZips.com preview about KD's coaching history: He is 9-1 vs. Central Michigan, with all ten meetings coming at Akron. Is that true -- we've never played in Mt Pleasant under Keith? Hard to imagine, AND I seem to recall his getting a lot of flack from CMU people over what happened to him up there before one game.
  18. Okay -- Right, gotcha. The best available tix were already in the nosebleed section -- which makes it better to get them through the team, if/when needed.
  19. I just checked out tix prices for the closest site to Z.I.P., Hewlett-Packard Arena, San Jose. $182/all session ticket. Is that three games? V. Steep, IAC.
  20. That makes more sense, his being a frosh. However I saw an article that gave his yob as '92.
  21. Ummmm...Sorry pal. Wrong team.
  22. Is that Blair in upper right of the first (group) shot? I thought it was Zarek at first. My screen is tiny though.
  23. Meanwhile, Terry Pluto is right now composing a column in which he too says the Zips are getting too big for their britches. Terry wonders why Akron can't exhibit the fighting spirit of the Wooster Scots, and wants the world to know that Zippy wouldn't have a marsupial's chance of beating the Hiram Terrier in a mascot challenge.
  24. I think this is more like Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Cal Poly Pomona. Idaho was once a member of the Pac-8, while Idaho State has always been minor league. Those of us outside of Tater Country however can't tell the difference. They're all tots to us.
  25. Is this kid (he actually appears to be a 20 y.o. freshman -- dob 1992) the best Akron athlete of all time? His best jump this indoor season is a foot-and a-half higher than the #2 jump. He's like 4" away from the junior record. Recruiting this performer is a tribute to long-time coach Dennis Mitchell and his staff. Expect him to win both indoor and outdoor NCAA titles this year! Where is the NCAA outdoor meet? I'm willing to get the tailgate started at either Eugene or Sacramento, if Zipmeister brings eighteen feet of ales.
