  1. C'mon Keith, Moraga is beautiful in February! Can you say, "Matthew Bellavedova"? Just so we don't get the same refs we had in Berkeley a few yrs ago!
  2. Another thing not captured in the stats is foul progression -- Zeke seems to be getting significantly fewer first half fouls, which allows him to play more aggressively down the stretch. I think that fact allows for much of his overall improvement.
  3. Would he be the first Lebanese CFB player?
  4. I have to admit, I find it pretty amazing that one play that I can't even remember gets this attention, rather than the terrific CAREER that Jerome Lane had, including being the Div 1 rebounding leader. I also remember someone on ESPN looking at a plaque at St Vincent's with the names of the basketball players who had their jerseys retired. The guy knew the LeBron fellow, and Romeo, who was then a Zip, but he asked, "Who is Jerome Lane, and that Colin Irish guy?" (I think I got Colin's name right -- anyone? He led St V's to the state title as a freshman back about 1978/79.) Edit/Update: Alright, I was only off on Curtis Wilson's name by, well, two names... Hope he and Colin Irish weren't looking.
  5. Never mind. I found the previous discussion. Wonder if coach Dambrot is following. His old man led the nation in rebounding, after all.
  6. Anybody know if ATH Jerome Lane, Firestone HS, Akron OH is an offspring of any St. Vincent-St. Mary's HS Hall of Famers, and ex-Pitt Panther ballers?
  7. Just wondered if Bisbee was on hand for the Duel in the Desert? Where you at, Pops?
  8. Wow! That's golden. Catch the wave. Is it a Chihuly? No -- he's from Seattle, not Portland.
  9. Good thing Dave! The game was played in Murphreesboro Tennessee.
  10. That was the WAC's 2nd National Championship in football. The WAC Sun Devils were tri-national champs (at least their fans still say so) in 1974 IIRC, when they, Oklahoma and USC all finished undefeated. While the Sooners and Trojans won the AP and UPI polls, ASU won in the Sporting News poll. ASU beat Nebraska in the Fiesta Bowl, which was then a young and relatively minor bowl game compared to today (Huskers had one or two losses coming in).
  11. So fifty-five hundred is now a "sellout"? When did they take out the 1000- 1500 seats that used to be there in the old days? I was there the night the place opened vs BeeGee with over 6500 I recall. This reminds me of the Rubber Bowl attendance thread where I wrote about the Browns-Giants game with 45,000 fans.
  12. I'm less concerned with who started it than with how we can stop it. It's getting on my nerves, now that EVERYONE wants to do it.
  13. Where was the game -- home field, or Cactus League?
  14. Yeah -- I was lucky that my friend Lennay Kekua decided she wanted to meet me at the game.
  15. LOL! 1-33 on treys?? Well, you know, a shooter can't stop shooting, just because he misses a couple shots!
  16. Of course. Just further evidence of how little many people know about CBB -- and how little appreciated the National Invitational Tourney is. As I say every time this comes up, the worst team in the NIT is better than just about half the teams in the NCAA tourney. Winning four or five games against that caliber of competition is incredible. The only drawback about the NIT is that they give the home court to the bigger name school whenever possible, thereby making progress very difficult. Now, if it were Sweet 16 vs NIT finalist, I would have to agree with the (near unanimous) majority. The biggest difference between the tournaments is simply the amount of media attention. But a NIT run is noticed more by the CBB fraternity (than one-and-done in NCAA).
  17. Back about 1979 or '80 the Zips soccer kits were redesigned by, I believe Zips player Steve Nicol (if anyone has better memory, please come forward). They were actually pretty nice. Not sure if that was before or after Bo Ellis. Marquette doesn't play soccer, I don't believe (at least we've never played them!).
  18. Does anyone know if Tree and Harney are going to get their fifth year of playing eligibility back?
  19. Did anyone catch up on the comment about Steve's international comp? When did he ever play for DR of Congo?
  20. Glad someone mentioned names on this thread. I was thinking about the HUGE matchup at the JAR on Wednesday night between the MAC East co-leaders and the 15-2 Toledo Rockets Wahine basketball team. Now THAT is as big a home game as coach Jody Kest has had in her tenure at the Zips' helm. I surely do hope that the Zips' fans decide this game is worth coming out for. It could hold the key to the postseason for our women. Our gals are good enough to beat this team, whose only losses are by three to #17 Dayton on the road, and to CMU on the road. Hey Rowdies! What are your plans?
  21. Here's the latest twist: I don't doubt that Reagan Mauia met Lennay Kekua, but, I would be willing to bet that he never saw Lennay and his/her friend Ronaiah Tuiasosopo together at the same time. That's because Ronaiah is not just Lennay on line, he's Lennay in drag as well. Wait and see...
  22. Do I get credit for getting the answer independently? I didn't cheat by reading the right answer, like some. I'll look for that deathspin thing, they probably started their investigation a month ago, I just started about 3PM HST.
  23. I didn't hear the "Whoops" from HeadAviatorRowdie. What's up with that?
  24. Sorry Professor, I guess I'll have to re-do my paper. Did they show that he's a transvestite too?
  25. If you think Manti's popular in South Bend, you should come to Hawaii (well, maybe you don't need that excuse...). He's a demi-god here -- He pulled up O'ahu from the ocean with his fishhook. The local news/sports people haven't dared to show any suspicion against Saint Manti. He's a terrible victim -- just like the ND AD said earlier. Honolulu might be renamed West South Bend.
