  1. I kinda doubt they're better than UCSB, but we'll see.
  2. I was actually repeating what a Gaucho told me, so...
  3. At least you have SOMETHING!
  4. They were #3 SOS.
  5. Akron 16 ass'ts to 10 TOs.
  6. Women's basketball vs YSU streaming after this. How bad are Wahine Penguini? ;
  7. Offensive Rebound Big Dog! Then misses two FTs!
  8. School record for three pointers is...?
  9. Wonder how many Robothams and friends in the house.
  10. Only five offensive rebounds combined. 3-2 Gauchos.
  11. Akron 40-35 at half -- and 10 of 19 from three! Can we keep that up? Unlikely, though Big West defense is awful.
  12. 32-30. We've made 8/16 threes already? Holy cow!
  13. I got zip, i.e., nada, ninguna pintura.
  14. Yes -- they could have "won it all" in Hawaii...If they hadn't lost to Iowa State and South Carolina... ?!?!
  15. At this point in the season -- and perhaps in general -- RPI is based on Strength of Schedule. UCSB has played four PAC-12 teams, the best of them Cal, and has lost all by double digits except @ Arizona State, a 70-68 defeat. As I mentioned on the tournament thread, I know them well from the BWC, and they lost their only dominant player, "Big Al" Williams to graduation. He was two-time national rebounding leader, and a strong rim defender. This UCSB team has 10 freshmen! The two returners who can be trouble are both big guards (6-5 and 6-3). John Green, the 6-5 guard is athletic enough to score 15-20 pts most nights and is a good stand-up shooter. The same is true of Gabe Vincent, who scored about 25 vs Hawaii last year -- those guys are both very streaky shooters, who can stretch the floor to 20 ft. Since I haven't seen them (don't know how they haven't been on PAC-12 Net) this year, I can't really comment on any of the double-digit newcomers. UCSB's always a well coached team. Bob Williams has been the coach since Coleman Crawford was at the JAR. One more thing for those visiting to remember: If the Gaucho Locos head to Vegas for the Holidays, duck when the Gauchos score, because the tradition is to throw tortillas whenever they score a goal! Iona Gaels? They look form the sked like they would be below UCSB in rank -- and I don't think either of these teams could make the top half of the MAC.
  16. The Bowerman will be awarded in two days (12/17), and guess who is prohibitive favorite? Will the trophy appear in the JAR?
  17. Frankly, I expect a very similar scenario in Houston next year. No major soccer programs nearby. And Zip_ME87, I'm glad to hear there was a "decent crowd behind the teams", as on TV it looked like a thou, perhaps even 500 people 'singin in the rain'. smh.
  18. I would love to dump on Don Garber as well, as he is one of my least fave figures. However, I'm pretty sure the UCL, i.e., European Champions League (why does Europe get abbreviated with a 'U'?) employs the same scheduling strategy, using two-legged ties until the final of the knock-out rounds. I like that practice, as it gives each side a better opportunity to advance, yet creates the excitement of a winner-take-all championship -- but, I don't think there has ever been a Champions League final played on a home field. MLS should avoid that, despite the Crew laying an egg at home.
  19. I enjoyed the five guys at the final chant/serenading Taylor Twellman. The cameras did a good job of exposing the nearly 20,000 empty seats, and Taylor held the NCAA up to rightful contempt for the awful turnout. Even compared it to the women's tourney in Carey, which was nearly sold-out.
  20. They've already subtracted the cost from the $325,000 FIPB payout.
  21. I think you're the second person who thinks we're playing Idaho State. Go Zips. Beat Bengals!
  22. It is dependent on the player or (sometimes but rarely) the school to notify that site (i.e., no one at TDS goes out of their way to discover recruiting info). That's why many schools have no recruits listed until after the signing date. Does BGSU show any 2016 recruits?
  23. Just wondered if anyone has seen any College Cup merchandise available on the web? I've been looking, and found some for last week's women's tournament, but not this week's. I see that the UA Bookstore is selling Potato Bowl shirts, but nothing for the College Cup.
  24. Funny, but I have never noticed that feature on TennZip's posts. I use Chrome or sometimes still IE.
