  1. What he meant was: Nobody transferring out hasn't happened in a few years. IOW, SOMEONE always transfers out. Get it?
  2. It has become de rigueur in the world of sports reporting, and I think it is in part because so many of us hang out at sites like this one! Sites where we do not dare question the wisdom of our coach, or the play of our boys on the gridiron, pitch, floor, canvas, etc., etc. Unless we're Quickzip, that is!
  3. Just for the record, I bet the Oregon State fans are saying the very same things about their team's recent games versus powerhouses Southern Illinois-Edwardsville and Maryland Eastern Shore, against both of whom they played about 15 minutes of basketball worthy of blowing away their opponents, then cruised to closer victories than they wished. We will find out Sunday around 1630 HST which team has the capacity to play closer to 40 minutes of sustained power basketball. Hopefully the Beavs get starstruck by their coaches' brother-in-law and fall on their faces, but I wouldn't count on it! They have two players as good as anyone in the MAC, then a bunch of junk.
  4. Please, if you're interested, i.e., vote today. We're falling behind both Maryland AND the Whated Whossiers now!
  5. Way back in 1977, the Titans beat Akron 107-58 in game 15 our the team's 21 game winning streak. Now how come I don't remember that? Where were you sitting, Hilltopper?
  6. LOL. I like the p.s.: We're looking into the Sheriff Center policy on giant heads. (Christmas) tree, kd, bo, and sc (santa claus, whoelse?) Not necessarily in that order
  7. Yet greater justification for our meister to not visit the Kingdom of Ka Pa'e 'aina 'o Hawai'i Nei for the holidays: Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports on Friday the 13th of December (what a propitious date!) that plans are going Full Speed Ahead for a visit by President Barack Obama to the Stan Sheriff Center, almost certainly for the 2:30 PM game between our Zips and the Oregon State Beavducks, or whatever. The news is raising the possibility that the game could be transformed from a neutral game contest before 2000-3000 fans, to potentially the first sellout of 10,100 seat Sheriff Center in many years. Good thing meister doesn't need tix, but if he did, well, maybe I could make arrangements through my Hawaii Democratic Party channels.
  8. WOW! How did I ever miss the expert disgnosis of DiG on this engaging topic? My doubt originated from what are clearly unDiGestedly wrong local experts here in the 50th state, who even on the airwaves have stated that University of Hawaii players who have seen game action this season could still be eligible for a red-shirt season. I will refer them directly to Dave.
  9. Since they decided to put the Zips' title celebration as their preferred image, it would appear TDW already knows what the correct answer is!
  10. I think we need to be more precise about the rule before assuming that Kwan's red-shirt has been "burned". Unless there have been changes to the rule, players do have an opportunity to play a limited number of minutes in X number of games before they catch on fire and lose their freshman virginity. Unless DiG disagrees.
  11. No entiendo esto: El contrato con el CB Valladolid contempla una posibilidad de corte al cabo de un mes, en función de su adaptación a la liga española. HE can leave the league after a month, or Valladolid club can leave the league after a month?? Perhaps Nik is on a one-month trial period.
  12. Pronounced, Ree-shawn. You're welcome.
  13. Your source? Mr Snowden??
  14. Hawaii Bowl 2014? Tenth Anniversary of the 2004 "The Refs-Stole-it-From-Us-Game" finishing after 3AM EST. The only thing that kept Akron from its first bowl game was they couldn't let Hawaii lose to Michigan State.
  15. Derschang, Quinn, Brenes and Stevenson are the Zips selected for the 2014 MLS Draft Combine. This equals the number from the school we DEFEATED in the NCAA tournament, and exceeds any of those "superior" ACC schools, or the other two Final Four participants! I believe Akron can continue to be a pipeline to Major League Soccer in the years to come. Do not doubt the Akron Zips!
  16. We're having a Sesquicentennial?? WOW! The last one of those I went to was with my grandpa in 1966 in Greentown, I still remember the oxe roast and the wooden nickles they handed out to the kids. I might still have mine. If The University of Akron has a Sesquicentennial, I sure hope they have an oxe to gore. I can think of one or two in the Athletic Department myself.
  17. This is an interesting, and prescient topic. The ACC, with conference expansion is dominating the sport -- and others will follow. Six of the eight quarterfinalists in the Women's College Cup tournament were from the ACC. At least the ACC teams will be playing each other in the semis, preventing two teams from there in the finals. I have a predilection for the Lobos as well. I'll be wearing my Lobos Soccer T shirt.
  18. At least he said, "Akron's nice"! (re: The Chevy commercial)
  19. You failed to mention the audio portion, where DOG asked the defender, "Would you like some nutmeg on your pumpkin pie?"
  20. "Athletics is a window to our university and a way for all of us who care about the Zips to come together and celebrate our success," UA President Luis M. Proenza said." Thank you Mr President. However, I'm not sure that athletics should be the PICTURE window of our university. I hope that's not the window you refer to.
  21. GT was absolutely WRONG!!! UA will be expanding their athletic department -- by joining the Lumberjacks of NAU in NCAA Pro Wrestling!
  22. Amazing no one has yet guessed the Z.I.P. Athletic and Convocation Center!
  23. Duly noted and filed, under "sensing a note of sarcasm".
  24. Fine. You don't want the MAC to become more competitive. So don't ever complain about the league or campaign for Akron to leave based on the league's lack of competitiveness. Period.
  25. Wow! St V's got SOME team this year -- with four D-1 stars. Is this team in the class of say 1999-2002?
