Just for the record, I bet the Oregon State fans are saying the very same things about their team's recent games versus powerhouses Southern Illinois-Edwardsville and Maryland Eastern Shore, against both of whom they played about 15 minutes of basketball worthy of blowing away their opponents, then cruised to closer victories than they wished. We will find out Sunday around 1630 HST which team has the capacity to play closer to 40 minutes of sustained power basketball. Hopefully the Beavs get starstruck by their coaches' brother-in-law and fall on their faces, but I wouldn't count on it! They have two players as good as anyone in the MAC, then a bunch of junk.

The news is raising the possibility that the game could be transformed from a neutral game contest before 2000-3000 fans, to potentially the first sellout of 10,100 seat Sheriff Center in many years. Good thing meister doesn't need tix, but if he did, well, maybe I could make arrangements through my Hawaii Democratic Party channels.

I think we need to be more precise about the rule before assuming that Kwan's red-shirt has been "burned". Unless there have been changes to the rule, players do have an opportunity to play a limited number of minutes in X number of games before they catch on fire and lose their freshman virginity. Hawaii Bowl 2014? Tenth Anniversary of the 2004 "The Refs-Stole-it-From-Us-Game" finishing after 3AM EST. The only thing that kept Akron from its first bowl game was they couldn't let Hawaii lose to Michigan State.

Derschang, Quinn, Brenes and Stevenson are the Zips selected for the 2014 MLS Draft Combine. This equals the number from the school we DEFEATED in the NCAA tournament, and exceeds any of those "superior" ACC schools, or the other two Final Four participants! I believe Akron can continue to be a pipeline to Major League Soccer in the years to come. Do not doubt the Akron Zips!

We're having a Sesquicentennial?? WOW! The last one of those I went to was with my grandpa in 1966 in Greentown, I still remember the oxe roast and the wooden nickles they handed out to the kids. I might still have mine. If The University of Akron has a Sesquicentennial, I sure hope they have an oxe to gore. I can think of one or two in the Athletic Department myself.

This is an interesting, and prescient topic. The ACC, with conference expansion is dominating the sport -- and others will follow. Six of the eight quarterfinalists in the Women's College Cup tournament were from the ACC. At least the ACC teams will be playing each other in the semis, preventing two teams from there in the finals. I have a predilection for the Lobos as well. I'll be wearing my Lobos Soccer T shirt.
