  1. That WAS huge! Especially liked the pic of Perry flying against UL, from (I assume) the national championship game. I agree that he should be a strong contender for 2018 -- and I didn't even realize Jermaine Jones is already 32. Wow! Nice to hear the previous (U-17) WC mention too -- Cabrera seriously screwed with PK -- his captain, there.
  2. I just want to give you credit for knowing what "futsol" is. Skip-zip can't understand the attraction of "indoor soccer"!
  3. Did you say "your Owls"?? Are we playing Temple again?
  4. WHOA! That is some taiko, brother. And that ain't Kendy Endo, either! Who's the dude, and where is the performance?
  5. Chris Korb makes MLS Team of the Week. Thanks to Jared for retweeting! http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2014/07/14/team-week-wk-18-thierry-henry-jermain-defoe-lead-way-vintage-performances?utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=News&utm_campaign=Unpaid
  6. Yes -- Holthusen was there from the start: http://www.gozips.com/sports/msoc/2013-14/releases/20140210mj1dne I take these transfers as mostly positive news. These guys were thought of as contributors, so if they don't see themselves making the starting lineup, that says a lot for what Jared has coming in. Looking forward to the 2014 season -- when do season tix (and scarves!) go on sale?
  7. Crew8, I take it you haven't run into Bisbee and Tank in Brasil...?
  8. I suspect they're not related -- at least not brothers. The articles I've been able to pull up on Randall say he comes from a very poor family in San Jose'. I believe Rei's father is a professional -- isn't he an engineer?
  9. Thanks to those who agreed with my assessment of Dej. But what I was stressing was the fact that this team is desperately seeking someone to take the ball to the hoop through the paint, and I don't know anyone who has shown the ability to do that better than he (i.e., Dejhe).
  10. Hey -- I heard it from my own house at 7:30 a.m. approximately: "De Andre Yedlin, of the Seattle Sounders, and formerly the University of AK-ron in Ohio..." #Darkelimey
  11. If you're a real beer drinker, I invite you to raise a toast to my old friend Jack Joyce, founder and chief beerevolutionary at Rogue Ale who died recently here in Honolulu. He was the greatest ale brewer of them all! Cheers Jack! https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=651057314969375
  12. Okay, so let me restate the question: Where the flippin Heck is the bloody newsletter???
  13. You guys are right of course -- the inability to penetrate to the hoop was what killed the team in the middle of the season last year. But, I'm sure at least skip knows that the solution is wearing #4. That's your man, Deji to the rescue! Seriously, I believe the team will rely on Deji much the way they did Q last year. But hopefully, he will have more help than Quincy had.
  14. How awesome to see another of the Mighty Mites score the winning goal in Klinnsyball! John A. Brooks is less than a year older than DeAndre. Loved meeting the American Outlaws Honolulu for the first time this afternoon.
  15. I don't know what to believe about the USMNT's visit to TPC Sawgrass before the Nigeria game. @Yedlinny said he hit the green first try. Then there's this: http://www.sounderatheart.com/2014/6/5/5784006/deandre-yedlin-does-not-have-a-future-on-the-pga-tour I suspect he has a better future in golf than Mickelson has in futbol!
  16. Here's hoping the upgrade is effortable.
  17. He WAS -- if you just rearrange the letters in his last name from P-O-W-E-R-S to S-E-R-N-A. Well, Amazing! I didn't even at lunch today!
  18. Shout out to Bisbee and Tank!!! When do we get the official Travel to Rio Blog??? Wish I could go! Now gotta order my jersey. DeAndre: #2 Nice! http://www.soundersfc.com/post/2014/05/22/dempsey-yedlin-named-final-usmnt-23-man-roster-world-cup-brazil Also: A nice SI article about the $$ of World Cup team membership. http://soccer.si.com/2014/05/20/world-cup-usa-usmnt-player-bonuses-money-ussf/ Seems like DeAndre and his agent are due a BIG raise after the cup -- How long does his HG contract last?
  19. Dave is 100% correct here -- Kwan's game is the same in practice as it is during competition -- he has to become another player to fit into the 4 or 5 spot -- regardless of his body! But -- and don't downplay this -- he can be extremely valuable on the wing. His size allows him to do things from that position that defenders have a devil of a time guarding.
  20. This promises to be a very interesting season upcoming for the women. I expect much improvement.
  21. Hard to believe their AD took THAT long to can him -- after the season ended! Did they have to get WH approval, or something?? BTW -- didn't mention since I was busy at the time, but I had an opportunity to talk for about 30 secs with the Nation's First Grandma after OSU's game vs GMU and before Akron's with ISU. She was absolutely incredulous that her son's team had lost! She didn't know who "Akron" was, and it was the first time she had ever seen his team lose a game. He should now get a decent high major assistant coaching spot...
  22. Of all the Akron men's head coaches I've met, Huggins was the most successful, and the least likeable. Of course that depends on your measure of "success".
  23. Well, Rivals.com IS the Bible of recruiting sites, so I shall not blaspheme their most recent eval. However, I remember looking at that or another site prior to Brown's Butler decision (somewhere around the start of the 2012-13 season), and the list included only MAC and Big West schools, plus the likes of Cleveland State... I DO remember seeing both Can't St AND Ohio listed then, and now...no Bobkittens, but..a St. Mary's??... Jus' sayin'.
