  4. What happend to Michigan is going to happen to OSU on Sep 8!!
  5. Planning on attending the game. Winning tonight should get Akron ranked in the top 25.
  6. its too bad the 49ers haven't used Getsy yet. I hope he doesn't get cut.
  7. Ken Dorsey deserves it more than Brady Quinn.
  8. I have Akron News DVR'd and watch it religiously. It's a lot better than any of the other news programs, especially FOX 8. And it's the only local news you can get OnDemand.
  9. I live in Akron and get the PD instead of the ABJ. Part of the reason is that OSU gets more coverage than the Zips in the ABJ, the other reason is that I don't want to read a 2 page business section in the back of the sports page. The ABJ is a horrible paper under its new ownership. I've encouraged family and friends to switch to the PD, and I'm encouraging everyone here to switch as well.I can live with a Cleveland paper covering the suckeyes more than the Zips, but for a hometown paper to do this is unacceptable.Good luck finding the business section in the ABJ. When you find it, enjoy your 2 pages of crap. The PD's business section is actually pretty interesting. I get the Wall Street Journal for free through the University but I read the PD's business section first.
  10. Why do you always bring up Youngstown? The city is in rapid decline.
  11. If you guys are wise, you would start buying AT&T's stock.
  12. it's not about being jealous, it's about taking a stand to show people that it's ok not to be an OSU fan, but a Zip fan. Most of the bashing comes after Zips fans see Akron get disrespect from the local community. Everytime Akon gets pushed aside in this area, it's like a stab in the heart to Zip fans. For some reason, people in this area think it's the standard quo to be a Buckeye fan. So when one of those lost souls finds people pushing OSU aside for Akron, the hope is they'll be turned to the light. The reason we bash OSU is because we don't feel the current attitudes in this area towards the Zips is acceptable. We just want people to get off the front running bandwagon and root for their local product. To change the attitudes of the people who think OSU is the only college sport in Ohio worth rooting for, that is why we bash!!
  13. Akron might as well be Cleveland's college football team, the city of Akron is a part of the Cleveland market . I honestly think this game will sell. Look for over 35kThe questions are:Will students get in free?Is the University planning transportation for on campus students? Why would anyone complain about this? The Zips are playing at Cleveland Browns Stadium. And for the most important question:Where will be the best place for tailgating?
  14. There's plenty of area to grow on the North part of campus. Can you tell my why Akron wouldn't be able to build around Central Hower?
  15. Brady Quinn is ticket insurance for the Browns. If Frye screws up, the fans will still have hope that Brady Quinn will turn things aroun in the future. Give fans some kind of hope for the future and tickets will sell. I honestly don't think the Browns have been persuing a championship as hard as other franchises because they don't have to in order to make big profits.I don't think Anderson has a chance because he's not a quarterback that will sell tickets. Frye, a local boy, still gives fans hope in him. Brady Quinn, also a local boy, will be tomorrows hope if Frye can't cut it.Let's be honest, people around here still have hope in the local boy.
  16. I found this info on www.emporis.comColumbusPopulation730,657 in city and 1,936,351 in metro AkronPopulation210,795 in city and 2,931,774 in metro ClevelandPopulation452,208 in city and 2,931,774 in metro It looks like they combined Akron and Cleveland when calculating metro area. This is logical considering how close they ara and the demographics for both areas. The city of Cleveland and Akron needs to jointly work together in order to grow. The only news most people get in Akron comes from Cleveland news stations. Heck, I would rather read The Plain Dealer than the Columbus Beacon Urinal. The University of Akron is growing fast. With the new dorms being built on Exchange, you would think that it would be enough but they just purchased Quaker Oats. This tells me that the University is expecting to grow faster than everyone thinks. I honestly think that in 5 years, UA will have an enrollment around 35,000 taking a lot of Can't's future prospects. I think a UA and Cleveland State merger would benefit both universities. Though that merger might be idealistic, what is realistic is that the UA is growing.I think you're the one not being realistic here.
  17. This is great news. I hope that the ladies will be as good as the men. I had the chance to golf with Brad Wright during Akron's Accounting Golf Outing and he's amazing. Because of him, my team won.
  18. No matter what the Beacon Urinal writes or how much you hate him, Frye is going to be the starter.
  19. still nothing, I hope this can be fixed soon. I'd like to update my signature. I know people are worried I might become a little more anti Suckeye in it, but I'll try hard not to (even though it will be really hard to overcome that urge).
  20. Can't State is garbage. Sooner or later that University is going to be another local tech school.
  21. Blame AHMA for that. They are making tons of money off our tax dollars with the Mayflower. Every night I go to the Barley House, I get approached by a Mayflower druggy. They ask me for money all the time. I don't support helping Zombies feed their drug/alcohol habbits. Giving them money only provides them the means to continue it. They don't need money for food. There are great organizations and churches that I highly respect in this area that already provide them with that.I like how AMHA wants you to think they are making a better living for section 8 people underneath the bridge but what they’re really doing is charging the state more for people to live there. Hopefully one day my REIT will get big enough and I'll do some development around here that will benefit this city and its quality. I want to bring people to this city, not milk it dry. And after I do that, I promise you you’ll never see a bar promoting a Suckeye game while the Zips are on TV. I think the Mayflower has potential, but instead, it's being wasted on section 8 garbage. It's in a perfect location for the University. I've been looking at buying some properties around downtown in the near future, my problem is that I'll have the Mayflower and it's garbage down the street.
  22. I wish they would have bought the Mayflower instead so the POS that lives there would have to pack up and leave. It's really an eye sore in downtown Akron when you have section 8 druggies all over the place because there home is right in the middle. I have a little beef with AMHA for doing that. The Mayflower would be perfect for business students and is right next to polsky.
  23. the Golf Outing for Accounting students is on June 1st. 18 holes and good food for only $10.
  24. Zen, I appreciate your opinions and think you're a well educated man. I am by far not a Democrat and I'm not supporting Fingerhut's proposal because he's a Democrat. I support his proposal because it's a change this area needs to make to get into the "profit zone." I am very against one sided politics because I think it stops a lot of things from getting done and it only creates static tension in this country. If someone in a party that I'm not affliated with has something good to say, I'll listen to it and judge it not based on his party, but on the content's pros vs. cons.
  25. Zen, the only thing I got from reading your point of view is Libertarian bias opinions. Why even bring politics in this? It's not about politics, it's about making a change for the future. Some of the best CEOs in this country had to face resistence against change within (Jack Welch, Michael Eisner, Roberto Goizueta, Andrew Grove, Lee Iococca, etc). The idea is to get the local Universities scope and strategic controls more focused and better suited for the changing future. You're against this because you don't want the government sticking their head into their own business. Can't State's last President gave several speeches about merging the schools in Northeast Ohio. The State funds the school, they should decide the future just as much as the president of the Universities. And it seems like the presidents of these Universities are favoring this move as well. This area needs find more effecient ways of doing things. The change is for the better. We don't want education to turn into a commodity.
