If i'm a fan of another school, say Toledo, and they talk smack about Akron on a Toledo board. I'm going to realize that it's a Toledo board and Toledo fans aren't going to root for other Ohio schools. I keep my mouth shut because I'm not there to talk about Akron, I'm there to talk about Toledo. This is an Akron board. You need to realize it's for Akron fans, Akron fans are going to talk smack about other schools in Ohio. It's something you are going to have to tolerate. There have been plenty of Akron/Can't fans on this board. If they can tolerate it, so can you.

it sounds like you are the one that's immature when you accuse me of doing something wrong when I clearly have facts to back it up..Rooting for OSU is like rooting for Can't State in many ways if you're from this community and never attended either Can't or OSU as a student. 1. It's a school in a different community.2. Has no ties to the Akron community.3. They both compete with Akron for students and athletes.4. They both compete in this market: Merchandise and popularity.5. They both compete for news coverage: ABJ, Plain Dealer, local tv news.6. They both have horrible accounting programs compared to Akron. Akron's accounting program is the harvard if the Mid-West.Those reasons up there are enough for me to say, "rooting for OSU is like rooting for Can't."You can try to tell me otherwise, but will I really care? Will it change my mind? You know the answer to that. You're just going to have to get over it. This is Akron, OH. Not Columbus.

That's making my generation and the University of Akron fans a reason to hate this paper. I've been in Akron about six years now and haven't heard too many people complain about the ABJ...just on this board. Yes, they have people that dislike them...but to say the whole generation and all UA fans hate them is a big, big overstatement. Personally I don't care where the article on the Zips lands...God was good enough to give me hands and thumbs that give me the ability to turn the page...so as long as I have those, it really doesn't make a difference to me. that's because we all know you like looking at OSU on the front page. You seem to show little pride or passion for the Zips.

we started packing up camp around 5:30. I don't think it's usually safe to leave stuff out wherever you go.I'm going to try and get as many students as we can to the game for tailgating. I'm gonna miss my Saturday class again (World Civ Latin). But stuff like this is worth it.If any alumni want to meet up at like the JAR and travel together, let me know. It would be great to walk onto Can't's campus like it's ours.

Let's not call them weenies, barely any of them showed up for the NTU game, I must admit that I was very disappointed with the Zips Alumni. I don't blame them for sitting though, a lot of them have their families with them.We need more Alumni to the games. I'm trying to do my part as a student to get my fellow students to the games, if the weather stays good for Oct 21, I hope we'll have a bigger student section.

You and I both know that the Beacon Journal is going to sell papers in this area whether they put OSU all over the sports section or not. This community will read whatever is fed to them. But by putting OSU all over the front page and giving them another big page while the Zips get the short end of the news, well, that's hurting sells right there. That's making my generation and the University of Akron fans a reason to hate this paper. The Plain Dealer should be jumping all over this opportunity to get it's paper sold around Akron and Can't. Imagine, if the Plain Dealer headlined Akron and Can't, people around here might actually subscribe to it over the Beacon Journal.

I didn't even see many greeks there except for the ones tailgating. That was a good idea for a game by the way. That relay with the cups on the ground. Even though I saw one guy breaking the man law by spilling more than half of the beer while drinking. But going to a football game just because it's Greek night? I figured you guys went because you're students and enjoy your schools football program. Hey zippyrifle, For all I know, I could have been that guy you're talking about. If you don't like how the students acted, go sit with the alumni. I'm sure the ushers will allow you to sit there since the Alumni failed to come out in force. I have no idea who brought that beach ball, but somehow my friend ended up with it. It's sitting in my car right now and I'll be sure to bring it to the Can't game. It was fun hitting it around. NTU had no chance of coming back. I believe JD turned things down because he's not the kind of coach that runs up the score.I wish our next home game wasn't so far away. This schedule is crap.

the Plain Dealer should start a small Akron paper that focuses on the Akron community. The Columbus Beacon Journal needs some competition.Someone should buy out the Akron Legal News and use the place to print the Akron Legal News as well as a new Akron paper.I'm thinking about starting a facebook group called, I'd rather read the Plain Dealer than the Beacon Journal.

I had so much fun tailgating yesterday that me and a bunch of friends decided we're going to tailgate for the Can't game. I have no idea where we're going to set up shop at. Plus, it's going to be hard to get a bunch of students up there before 12:00. The game starts at 2. I love how Akron's home games start late, that gives the students more time to drink before the games.

it was a good time....... Those free shirts didn't have Akron on them at all, GMAC???? I'm confused why the GMAC is played in Alabama in the first place, they should move it closer to the MAC schools.

good thing to take a note on, a girl from Can't said that her and a friend discussed about how Akron has a better campus than Can't now. She was really impressed with Akron's campus.Akron must beat Can't this Saturday. It really helps with recruiting the local students around here. A win next week and you'll see a better enrollment for next year than this year. It also helps to beat them in basketball.

why the hell would anyone from Akron care about that team in Columbus?? The ABJ loves to feed the front runners. Soon, they'll stop writing for the Browns, the Steelers will become glorified.

haha, not enough, i wanted to bring my cooler into the game. I was complaining about wanting another beer. I wish they'd sell beer during the games, they could raise enough money to build a dome stadium with the money they could make off students buying beer.The Irony of life,,,,,,,,,,,, look at Can't. Life's so ironic. I hope we put them in their place next week.

I think that we all knew there wasn't going to be a comeback and figured we had the second string out there getting PT. We were just having fun with the beach ball, stuff like that makes students enjoy the game and keeps them coming back.

Does anyone in Columbus read the ABJ??? Does the ABJ even sell newspapers outside of the Summit County area???The ABJ isn't a national paper. They should be giving sporting events happening locally more attention OSU isn't a local event for Akron. I'm tired of hearing your garbage about OSU being the front runner's team of choice and that everyone in this community roots for the front runner because they have winning tradition and have little ties to this community. I'm tired of hearing you defend OSU's attention on why they should be written about more than Akron. It's all garbage. You wouldn't see the papers in Pitt giving more glory to Penn State than Pitt.

You have got to be out of your mind!!!! This is the first home game for the University of Akron, that's bigger news than a team from Columbus playing a team from penn. Get off OSU's nuts, why don't you just transfer there? Seriously, this is Akron, not Columbus.
