He also missed an open receiver on 4th and goal towards the end...obviously those two plays made a huge difference. I find it interesting that so many people have looked at this thread and skipped over it. Non-issue? Avoiding the issue? Which is it?

Is anyone else worried about the way Getsy has looked so far this season? Aside from the two big drives last week, he's look shaky for the most part, and his season stats are less than impressive:59 of 119, 50 CMP%, 4 TD, 5 INTIs it because they've played good defenses, or should we be worried about the QB?

Any idea when the gates open? It'd be cool for everyone that is going to be up there tailgating to be able to go get one then come back out and tailgate more.

Are you guys kidding me? I want that to turn into a home game for Akron. That's how many Akron fans I want to see there. That would be the biggest slap in the face to them, to take over their own stadium. So what if they make a lil money from our game...do you really think more attendance for one game is going to change their program?

I was just thinking about something that might be cool for Zips fans to do. Last year I'm sure most of you saw the "White Out" that Penn State did - everyone wore white in the stadium. Ohio State fans are currently planning a "Red Out" for the Penn State game, where they are all wearing red. What if we did something for the home opener, or maybe in traveling to the Can't game?

If the Beacon truly has changed their ways, great. I'll believe it when I see it, and see it consistently. Pluto's column was a good start, but it is only a start. I disagree. You don't have to beat a team like NC State every time out. You have to win consistently. When, in recent memory, have the Zips been the favorite in all but two games on their schedule? And I'm not talking about having a chance to win...I'm talking being the favorite.

As Akron continues to win, I hope students focus more on themselves than worrying about other schools.

You have yet to prove they don't compete. They play each other almost every year in soccer. Akron competes with them every year with trying to get local high school students to chose Akron instead of OSU. Akron competes with OSU in the ABJ. Akron competes with OSU in Academics. Akron competes with OSU for media attention. Akron competes with OSU for fan support. Akron competes with OSU for recruits in basketball, football, soccer, baseball, track, volleyball, etc.Can you tell me that everything above is wrong??? They won't look at Akron at all. The attention they receive isn't going to change. The only thing that can change is the attention the Zips receive and the only way to do that is by winnng, winning, and winning some more. Again...nothing to do with OSU.I'll leave you Buckeye-Haters with two things to think about. First, if one of your main reasons for hating OSU is because they always receieve attention, then why provide them with more? Why always worry about what them or their fans are doing? Why bring them into the picture? By doing that, you're actually giivng them more attention without even realizing it. Second, if you truly want to "convert" people into becoming Akron fans, the way to do it is not by bashing OSU and their fans. The way to do it is to bring up all of the positives our school/programs have to offer, and to make them feel like a welcome addition.

The biggest flaws is your line of thought:Can't State is our rival. Ohio State is not. We play Can't and Toledo every year and are in the same conference as them. We play OSU every couple years (if that) and are in different conferences.About the only thing Akron and Ohio State have to do with each other is that they're both Ohio schools.

You can claim otherwise, but if it was really sarcasm or a joke, there would've been something to mark it as such (smiley, etc). Second, I am a fan of OSU. It's funny though...you say you don't knock me for that, yet you make a continuous jokes concerning me and OSU throughout your post. Whatever works though. As for me being defensive, you think it might be because a friggin thread was dedicated by some newbie calling me out on my manhood because I liked OSU? Or because a lot of my close friends go to OSU and are great fans? (On a side note, most of them also root for Akron. Many of the calls I received after the game Saturday were from Bucks fans...same with the MAC Title game. Good fans.)But you know what? You've helped me realize something. I'm going to just start ignoring the OSU bashing from now on. I need to get back to talking Zips...that's what I'm here for after all. It was pretty bad dude...Three things I will say:1) Maybe there weren't as many arrests, but OSU does have far more students. The ratios were probably about the same. 2) Couch burning and other delinquent behavior is bad, regardless of how many students are doing it. 3) I don't think Akron fans lack class at all. I always felt it was unfair to the well-behaved students to be painted with the same brush as the much smaller group of idiots. My entire point is that you shouldn't do the same to OSU students based on what a few idiots did.

Let's review what's happened...1) Bobbyake takes a shot at Ohio State students for not being classy because they burned some couches. 2) Myself and others pointed out that Akron students burned many couches and other things for May Day, with it reaching a bad enough point that the police eliminated May Day altogether. 3) Bobbyake, who just ripped into OSU for lacking class, suggest moving May Day to "throw off the cops". 4) Representatives from the NHO (National Hypocrite Organization) offer Bobbyake a membership into their fine institution. 5) Bobbyake accepts, but only after a clause is put into the contract that has him receiving a big TV. Come on now dude...Akron students were so bad just a few yeas back with burning couches and other things for May Day that the cops stepped in and basically ended the event...that's how bad it was. Now, the students who partied without burning couches and stuff have been pissed the last few years...first, because May Day, once a pretty cool event, is basically gone...second, because they didn't feel it was fair for people to judge Akron students as a whole based on what a few idiots were doing. But I guess any opportunity you have to take a cheap shot at OSU you gotta try and take, even if it's hypocritical, eh?

I must've been watching a different game, because I didn't think Frye looked good at all, regardless of who was around him. I'm not saying he's not starting material, or that he's not going to work out...but to say he played well - I think - is a stretch.

How can anyone not say the MAC Title game? When we look back years from now, that moment - Getsy to Hixon - will mark the beginning of the new era in Zips football.
