Tried to type K. e. n. t. Dorfman, but got the Can't override.

Hey Dorfman, I thought it was fat and stupid? LOL! I think the line from Animal house was fat, dumb, and stupid. Can't Dorfman - Hey, are you guys playing cards? That movie was a classic!

What "big boys"? Penn State and Michigan? They have a combined 9 points against those two. They have played 2 FCS schools, Howard and Alabama St. They gave Howard a beating. And barely beat Alabama St. EMU is coming in with one of their backs banged up (might not play), There defense is middle of the road and despite putting 49 points on Howard there offense is only ranked 8 points higher than ours. Its a MAC game between fairly even teams. I predict an Akron win 35-31. I sure hope you are right. I have very little confidence in our program. What I saw a few weeks ago against Temple was nothing short of pathetic. EMU would have to be pretty horrible to lose to us. Our offensive line cannot block and our defense cannot tackle or cover. On top of that we have a quarterback, who when not on his back or running for his life, is getting passes picked off or at the very least, batted down at the line of scrimmage. Only bright spot is the running game, but that is only as good as the offensive line in front of it.

EMU is crappy, but they have played slightly better against the "Big Boys". Based upon that, I would expect them to win by about 10 points. My prediction is EMU by 31-21.

2012 Recruit

He looks promising. Now we just need an OL that can pass protect long enough for the QB to get the ball to him. -
Super-conference discussion (Akron specific)
Kangaroo Craig replied to LZIp's topic in Off Topic, Smack & Jokes
If and when the Big East expands, they will look at Navy and possibly some CUSA schools such as East Carolina and SMU (Rival of TCU). If the Zips are looking to move up, then CUSA would be the next step for them. I'm not sure CUSA would take us due to the poor state of our football program right now. The Zips aren't going anywhere until a major, sustained improvement happens with football. -
How much would the U of A have to fork out to get Jim Tressel? Would they be willing to ante up? Would he be interested at any amount of money? Ohio was able to land Frank Solich. Didn't he used to work for Nebraska? I believe that I saw somewhere that Solich is the highest paid coach in the MAC. Not sure what his salary is. Point is, if Ohio can land someone with Solich's pedigree, albeit somewhat less than Tressel's, it shows that almost anything can happen at the right price. I'm sure there will be many opportunities for Jim Tressel, but he is a Northeast Ohioan and might be enticed to stay here if offered the right package. How about fired Wistricill and give Tressel the $$ + a $1M more to do both jobs. if the team improves, and it definitely will, the university will surely make up the extra salary they are paying him in gate revenues.

I have already given up on Ianello. Last year was the worst year for Akron football since we joined division 1A. Based on what I have seen so far this season, I am prepared for this year to be at least as bad, if not worse. I live in California now, but I was able to make it up for the home opener against Temple. I felt embarrassed for the team and also for the Alumni and students that have to put up with this crap! I saw an offensive line that could not block and a defense that couldn't tackle or cover. Clayton Moore seemed to be on his back or running for his life on just about every play. Poor coaching + Inferior talent = Awful team. I'm not convinced that this team can compete at 1AA (FCS) right now.

He is playing not to lose. 4th and 1" and he punts. I agree! Chris Spielman made the same comment during the game. What do you have to lose? Right after we punted they drove the length of the field and scored. At least if we would have picked up the first down, we could have given our defense a little more rest. As bad as Brookhart was, I would rather have him right now. At least he had some imagination as well as some kahoonas.

I don't care who the opponent was, the offensive performance was horrible! I got to see a little bit of the Can't-Alabama game. Although the Flushes got manhandled as well, they at least showed some glimpses of a passing game. Ours was completely non-existent except for one play in the 2 minute drill, near the end of the first half, where the Buckeyes were playing prevent and still almost prevented a 33 yard catch on the sideline. That was about the only decent play of the game for the Zips offensively. Pathetic! The defense must be prepared going forward because they are going to have to carry this team if it is going to have any chance of winning at all. I am now worried that this team will lose for the second year in a row to an FCS opponent. 11 more weeks of this crap. Ugh!

We've played these guys tough the last two times and both games were fairly low scores. I'm going to stick with that trend. 27-10 OSU.

Interesting Poll - Part III
Kangaroo Craig replied to MDZip's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Zakuani. #1 overall pick in MLS draft. He should have won the Hermann trophy. If I remember correctly they gave the award to some guy from Wake Forest. -
The greatest player on that list is Taylor. JT is the only NFL HOF on that list. Not sure if J. T. is the greatest Zip though. I would have to go with Charlie Frye. I will never forget that 4th quarter comeback against Marshall at the Rubber Bowl.

Lunardi uses no scientific approach to anything he does. He just looks at who was good the previous year and pencils them in to repeat. Last year at this time he predicted Ohio would be in the dance again. Although I agree that we will be strong again next season, I do not put much trust in Lunardi. Just another talking head.

Here is a distinction you do not want to have. 1. Akron, 2. BSU, 4. Buffalo, 5 WMU, 7. EMU, 12. BG, 21. MU, 22. Can't, 28. CMU. 36. Toledo, 38. NIU. Congrats to OU and Temple for not making this list. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/663298-...n-bases#page/51 Winning changes everything. So does playing in a conference that the average person actually cares about. I-Coach needs to get this thing turned around.

I love that rock. It must have about 10,000 layers of paint on it by now.

He has been the best coach in the MAC his entire time at both Akron and Central Michigan. There have been many times when he has not had the most talent, but still manages to get it done. That is the mark of a great coach. Earlier this year he thought his team was awful, and in some aspects they were. He rallied the troops and now they are where they are today. Teams led by Coleman Crawford or Dan Hipsher would have mailed it in back in January. This guy is as tough as nails and his players respond.

+1 Makes no difference to me. Just happy to be dancing. Especially at Can'ts expense!

It was way overhyped here in California. We had some slight tidal surges and a few yachts that were displaced from their moorings, but nothing more than that. I can understand the hype though. Tsunami warnings are never to be taken lightly. All of the beaches were closed from Santa Barbara to San Diego this morning.
-
Great that our guys pulled it out, but it should have never been that close. Missed layups, fouling your opponent in the act of shooting a 3 (Twice), and oh yeah, blowing a 20 point lead in the second half. Ugh! Time to get some rest and prepare for Western Michigan. I have a feeling that this tournament is going to come down to Akron and Can't in the final.

I meant to say flush, not flush. Typo.
-
I believe Auburn will win as well, but the game will be much closer than many think. Don't forget that Stanford lost their only game against the Ducks who beat them by about 20 or so points. Oregon doesn't have the flush that Auburn has, but they are a very physical team that can wear their opponents down. The Tigers will be feeling a lot of bumps and bruises after this game. Browns rookie T.J. Ward played on this team last year. He is a good representation of the current state of Oregon football.

Former Glenville DB transfers to Akron

Those are some ignorant and foul Twitter posts by Rodnell. I sure hope he is a lot more mentally mature than the impression that he gives on Twitter. Does anyone know what sort of grades this kid has? -
team strength's and weakness
Kangaroo Craig replied to akron football's topic in Akron Zips Football
Offense - Weakness Defense - Weakness Special Teams - Weakness Coaching - Weakness Facilities (In comparison to the rest of the MAC and other non-BCS) - Big Strength. Potential recruiting tool, but only if weaknesses improve. -
I blame Bush. Now I don't care where your from, that's funny!
