Pohl has certainly been underwhelming indeed, but some of the blame has to go the O-Line. They have been pushed around all year. The few games that I watched on TV (Zip alum living in California), Pohl has been under constant pressure. I wasn't able to watch today, but based upon what I had heard from Frenchy, it was pretty much the same thing again today. Great game by Chisolm. I wander how he would do with consistent blocking in front of him all year. I still believe it might be time to replace the signal caller though. Pohl forces too many passes when under pressure. I get it, he's frustrated and trying to make a play, but I would much rather see him throw it out of bounds instead of making an ill advised pass.

Agreed. Money is a huge part of the equation and non-BCS, FBS schools definitely need the "money game(s)" on their schedule. The only way to take down the NCAA is if all of the non power 5 conference basketball schools walked away (unlikely). If that happened, the NCAA would still be able to host their tournament, but they would barely have enough schools to fill out the bracket, and a good number of them would be average to lousy. Additionally, a new tournament could attract some pretty good programs as well. I would think fans would want to watch it, at least in the first few years. After that, who knows?

I second that - Stay safe Z.I.P. As a citizen of Southern California, here's to hoping that the Zips play some more future contests. A home and home would be nice.

Great story! Thanks for posting! Didn't care much for the negative comments at the end such as "Bad career move" and "He's just setting himself up for the next big promotion". Even if Bowden wins at Akron, I don't see him as a hot coaching commodity because of his age. Much like Frank Solich, he will be passed up for much younger successful coaches. This is all fine with me because I don't want him to leave Akron anytime soon.

My initial thoughts as well, but this guy has a far stronger resume' than Ianello did when we hired him. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think Coach I had any previous head coaching experience, let alone a national title somewhere. I expect Chuck Martin to succeed at MU.

The team has definitely improved. And the near and long term outlook is promising; however, when it comes to expectations, I go strictly by the record. Since the Zips are 1 - 3, I gave them a grade of "met".

Agreed! One of the best things about leaving Ohio and moving west in 2088, was not ever having to listen to the Cleveland media salivate over OSU again. At least in California we have four BCS schools and three more non-BCS FBS schools so there is not a total bias towards one school. In the LA basin USC and UCLA get equal attention and the same thing goes for Stanford and Cal in the Bay Area. And here's another thing, I lived in Ohio for 30 years and never once say a buckeye tree. What a stupid mascot for a stupid school.

I don't care for this deal either. I live in Southern California and one of the reasons why I purchased DirecTv is so that I could subscribe to Sportstime Ohio and the Fox Sports tier (The other reason being NFL Sunday Ticket). Since STO had previously carried a number MAC telecasts, I figured I would get to see a number of Zs games. Not now. Not happy

If I still resided in the Akron area, I would take this class.

I think the game on 9/5 is against Louisiana Lafayette even though it says "Louisiana" on the schedule.
