I like Larry Kehres over at Mount Union. I know that his name came up the last time we were looking for a coach. Does anyone know if he would be interested in leaving Mount Union for Akron? MU was nothing before he got there.

Since Matt Rogers is struggling, give him one more week to prove himself. If he cannot show significant signs of improvement, given the extra week to prepare, against a much weaker opponent, then burn Nicely's redshirt. Nicely will then have eight games to gain valuable experience going into next season. If Nicely is anything close to what everyone says he is, give him the opportunity to start now! and let Rogers be his back-up. By the time he is a sophomore, he will hopefully be clicking on all cylinders and we will have three more solid years of his services left. If the season is truly lost, then what really do the Zips have to lose other than an extra year of eligibilty. Three years vs. four. So what.

Rogers forced way too many balls into heavy coverage. I hope it was just first game jitters, but I do not have a very good feel for his decision making skills. I keep hearing that Nicely is such a highly recruited prospect. If that is the case, play him now!! Don't risk losing just to save his redshirt. I don't know what Jacquemain did, but it sounds as if it was something bad. I say, cut ties with him and move on. It is sad to say that because he gives us the best chance to win, but if he is a cancer, get rid of him.

I like option 1 as well. No games at Browns stadium and another Big 11 program comes to Akron. Louisville is also a big time opponent.

why was The Info Opener Not Televised
Kangaroo Craig replied to Blue & Gold's topic in Akron Zips Football
I'm more surprised that it wasn't sold out. The announced crowd was about 27,800 something. I thought the place held 30,000. I also thought that they were turning students away who wanted tickets. Are they not counting no shows anymore? -
Thank you for the link. That was very interesting.

Although the PSU quarterback threw for a lot of yards, I was not all that impressed with his play either. Lots of under and overthrown balls. There was one play in the second quarter where he had a guy wide open near the goal line. He put so much air under the ball, that it allowed Miguel Graham (I believe) to catch up to it an make a play on it. If Jacquamain had Bowser that wide open, It would have been six points for sure. If our OL plays up to its expectations the rest of the way, we should not have anything to worry about. The Zips will not face another defensive front seven even close to that the rest of the season.

I'm not to worried about the quarterbacks. After reading all of the posts, of few people actually got it. I think Big Zip mentioned it first. The problems with this team was 100% related to the offensive line. They did not block in the first half. Period! I have to give the coaches credit because they obviously made some sort of adjustment at halftime. I'm not sure what it was, but it worked. The entire second half was a different story for the Zips offense. The line gave our quarterbacks enough time to throw the ball and they made some plays. The running game was also better in the second half as a result of better blocking. Football games are won and lost in the trenches and this game was no exception to that rule. We will not face another front seven like that the rest of the season so this was a good early learning experience for our OL.

Zips Top Preseason Power Rankings
Kangaroo Craig replied to psc2009's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
I don't know why they even bother with this ranking. The rest of those schools are not even close to the Zips and never will be. We are waaaaaaay to good for this crappy conference. -
Penn State favored by 28; o/u 58.5
Kangaroo Craig replied to Class of 82's topic in Akron Zips Football
They got spanked by SC in their last game and they are 28 point favorites. I do not see it. I think we give them a good game and come up short by about 10 points. Just wander what the line would be if Akron had to go to LA or Gainesville. -
What about increasing the talent level of basketball and getting more big programs to visit MAC campuses so we can get more than just one school in the big dance every year. The MAC is just a pathetic basketball conference.

They're toast! He and Drew Willy were the main cogs in their machine last year and now both are gone. They'll be lucky to finish with a .500 record.

$54.99 for a bottle of Smirnoff? Not even Grey Goose. That makes for an expensive, not even top shelf, martini. I guess if you can afford the luxuries of the club suites, you can pay the high price for catering. Most of these bills will be paid by corporations for smoozing customers.

There will be more of this from OU as well as other schools. There has been a lot of negative comments to some of the BJ stories about our campus and particularly our stadium. OU fans love to dump on Dambort. Why, because he is kicking their butts on a consistent basis. That is also the real reason why they still don't care for Marshall. Definitely jealousy. Not a big deal as far as I'm concerned. Just more evidence that Akron is slowly separating itself from the rest of the MAC and that is a good thing. We need to eventually get ourselves out of that crappy conference and move to one where we will be recognized nationally and will be able to compete at a higher level. The only negative that I have about our great stadium, is I wish it were built with an initial capacity of at least 45,000 because in order to move up, it will eventually need to be expanded. UA needs to eventually enclose the upper deck of the north endzone and add permanent seats to the lower deck of the south endzone. There will not be any problem selling those seats because the program will be improved and fans will come.

Which 40 teams should make up Division I-A?
Kangaroo Craig replied to Dr Z's topic in Akron Zips Football
I voted for Akron only. Cant is currently at 0.8% Fourth from the bottom. It is interesting to see how many current BCS schools do not make the cut. -
Awesome Pictures! Thank you! As someone living in Albuquerque, I have not yet had the opportunity to see any of these views. I am counting down the days to when I will be back in Akron for the first two games. This makes me very proud to say that I graduated from UA. Like the rest of you, I can't wait to see the finished product with butts in the seats.

They look like a cheap version of the Philadelphia Eagles. Not good, but definitely better than the previous ones with the metal tread plate design. I never could figure out what that was all about.

Barbara Boxer is an ungreatful B****
Kangaroo Craig replied to ksu sucks's topic in Off Topic, Smack & Jokes
When a military person refers to someone as sir or ma'am, they are giving that person the upmost respect.Since she has a "D" after her title, the only work she had to do was lobby within her party to get the nomination. After that, the sheeple in California took care of the rest. Californians, who have a large contingent of illeagals voting, always vote for D's without even knowing what it is they are supporting. These people are voting to slash their own necks, along with everyone elses, and don't even realize it. In the words of the great one, Mark Levin, "Drones". -
Weak MAC Out of conference schedules?
Kangaroo Craig replied to Bull_In_Exile's topic in Akron Zips Football
Did anyone notice the poll that was on this site regarding "Who will win the MAC East this year?" This poll included every school except for Can't. Too funny! -
Your second favorite MAC team
Kangaroo Craig replied to Zipsrifle's topic in Off Topic, Smack & Jokes
Since there wasn't a "None of the above" option, I didn't vote. They're all rivals, and therefore, I don't care for any of them. -
Over the last 10 - 15 years we've faired pretty well against OU, especially at home. Everything regarding this season hinges on the defense. If we can hold most opponents to 24 or less, we'll have a pretty good season. I expect this offense to put up an average of at least 28 points per game. I think the first MAC game is against Central in Mt. Pleasant. That will be the week that should be a measuring stick for the rest of the season. CMU has arguably the best offense in the league. If we can somehow win that one, or even be competitive, our chances of winning the MAC East will be pretty good.

How did you find Zipsnation?
Kangaroo Craig replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Board Comments, Suggestions & Technical Support
For me it was the result of an internet search shortly after the site was created. I'm glad I found Zipsnation. It is the only source that I trust when it comes to Zips athletics. (GoZips.com - Weak at best, Beacon Journal - Poor. No where near what it should be - More concerned with Suckeye coverage) -
Hixon and Kellen Winslow Jr
Kangaroo Craig replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football
Except Hixon is mature enough to realize that he shouldn't be riding his while he is obligated to his NFL contract. Also, don't forget to add Rothlisberger to that list as well. -
Paterno pushing For Big10 to Expand to 12
Kangaroo Craig replied to tbozeglav's topic in Akron Zips Football
One point that nobody made is the the Big East is arguably better top to bottom than the Big 10 in Basketball. If you are primarily a basketball school such as Syracuse and Pitt, why would you want to leave the Big East? Overall the Big Ten is an upgrade, but not necessarily for basketball. I have not seen the $$, but I would have to think that joining the Big Ten would be a monetary benefit to any Big East school considering the Big Ten TV contracts in place. That alone would be enticing to any school.
