  1. 10-15 ppg (my guess) has been added to the roster. 2 more schollies to fill.
  2. You're right. I misread the 2022-23 bio, thinking that was an end of the season bio.
  3. The Gregg Marshall aftermath. They fired Marshall's replacement and just hired Oral Roberts' coach. Shammah is from Shaker Heights HS. Looks promising from his Junior College time. Minimal action in his only year at Wichita. 3 years of eligibility left.
  4. Anybody know if we've reached out to anyone else? Via a Twitter search, we have reached out to... Terrance Ford Jr. (G - Arkansas St.) Kaleb Thornton (G - NIU) Kevin Miller (G - CMU - Committed to Wake Forest)
  5. Mosengo transferred. The key to next year's success is having at least 2 scorers emerge. Whether that's the transfers, returning young players like Tavari/Nate/Prather Jr., or a combination, we need 2 guys that can consistently give us double digits along with Freeman.
  6. Garvin and Kobe were the 2 I had circled as the most likely transfer candidates. 3 open scholarships. Let's go to work. 2 guards and either a 3rd guard or stretch-4/big.
  7. I have nothing against Indiana, but them getting dog-walked by Miami is hilarious when looking at it from the lense of PCCC not even being competitive with Indiana.
  8. OSU fans next season...
  9. They want KD fired, so if this accelerated that, maybe it was worth it to them.
  10. Kowalchoke watching the Toledo women's team have success in March...
  11. Interesting tweet from Boals. Can't tell if this is smack talk or somehow support for Pinky. @jupitertoo any insight?
  12. This is the white board in the Purdue locker room. Looks like an artistic interpretation of one of their 3 point attempts.
  13. Good call. By the way, Terrance Ford just sounds like a MAC guard that averages 17.8 ppg and 6 apg.
  14. Fairleigh Dickinson - the shortest team in the country whose tallest player is 6'7" - just beat the tallest team in the country in Purdue whose tallest player is 7'4". We have two open scholarships and they need to go to shooters/scorers. Period.
  15. This. The acceptance of mediocrity by half the teams in the MAC for the better part of 2 decades has been flat out embarrassing.
  16. In high school, we had a multi-time Mr. Ohio powerlifter as an assistant coach (spoiler alert: he was our strength & conditioning coach, too; shocking, I know). He would be the guy on the body bag when we did layup drills to teach us how to explode up and finish through contact. Garvin needs a body bag guy and 2-3 other people to hold brooms over his head to simulate long arms as he does layup drills. This + 1000 shots per day, and he just might be able to get to where we need him to be.
  17. Bumbalough reminds me of the New Girl episode where Jessica Day "Biden's" at the wedding - she's just always there. Bumbalough never did much for Balls, but he was always there. His name was always being mentioned without much to show for it.
  18. Recruiting a high school player only to redshirt him in today's age is like buying a lottery ticket and putting it in the junk drawer, potentially to never look at it again. Look at Aziz - he was pretty raw last year (probably could've redshirted) but contributed enough to make a decent impact. He left and looks like he might be something special, but at least you got something out of him for a year; at least you got a few dollars back on your lottery ticket purchase. Not knowing what we might've had in Mosengo is puzzle. Using a scholarship on him instead of something who would've helped more than Mosengo ended up helping us is just plain frustrating.
  19. Exactly my point. We could have used Mosengo's scholarship on a transfer that would've been able to help the team this year. Prather had some health stuff if I recall that hindered his preparation for the season, correct?
  20. Quit. Recruiting. High. Schoolers. And. Redshirting. Them. @NWAkron I see your confused reaction emote, so I'll explain. We got nothing out of Mosengo. This team needed another bigger body, another scoring threat, and we have no idea if Mosengo would've filled either of those needs. Instead, he got a year of free education, free physical development, free basketball knowledge, etc., all on the University's dime, and now he's going to take all of that elsewhere. In the era of the open Transfer Portal, if a high schooler isn't expected to contribute at least a little bit from day 1, that scholarship would be better used on a more experienced Transfer who would then be locked into the Akron jersey for multiple years unless he wants to sit out a year. I don't understand redshirt anyone in this era of the Portal.
  21. All great points. Is the graphics team the same team that does them for football? If so, those people are earning their paychecks/experience. Both programs have really stepped up their social media game. Tribble, Dawson, and Hunter aren't surprising returns. Hunter would have to sit out a year if he left, Tribble is basically an Akron lifer with a limited skill set that only Groce can get the most out of, and Dawson is coming off an injury with limited transfer potential I'd assume; he also has the connection from Huntington Prep with Fulford. Freeman is the key to all of this. Him returning creates the stability this program needed after multiple offseasons of roster turnover. I'd be fascinated to hear the behind the scenes with him staying. He seems so genuine and simple, it could be that he just loves being at Akron, with Groce who gave him his big shot. It could be the program found some NIL money for him. It could be a combination. Would be interesting to hear the details. Everyone else on the roster is fair game to stay or leave. I don't believe there's a restriction on any of them, so we'll see which ones share a "Run It Back" graphic and which ones enter the Portal. Opening a spot on this roster for a veteran guard to replace X has to be the hope for anyone who watched this team last year. Ideally, I'd like 2 open slots on the roster for veteran pieces, since we have quite a bit of youth from the 2022 and 2023 classes.
  22. Anybody know if RayJ graduated?
