My post about a blind squirrel finding a nut was a joke (although they might actually be blind since they call their pee yellow "gold"). The world absolutely sucks right now, so if I can combine the success of the Zips with the failure of my rivals - especially PCCC - to find additional happiness, I absolutely will. I'm a fan - not a player. The kumbaya BS of rooting for rivals or not enjoying the failures of rivals is something I've never understood.

I was referring to the JMU game. A blind squirrel found a nut last night.

I was laughing when Toledo was down. When I saw they won, my only thought was, "It's the regular season which means it's Tod K's Super Bowl. Wonder how much he cheated in the offseason to eek out this important regular season win."

Kent blows 2 leads in 8 days, OU loses to CSU for the first time since the late 90s/early 00s, and Akron beats both SDSU & Southern Miss. Helluva ~10 day stretch.

Texas State, IIRC, was one of the lower scoring teams in the country last year. Interesting that Miami OH gave up 38 to them in the first half.

A USM fan from their Eaglepost Facebook page (in response to someone saying USM sucks)... "No way, Akron is a surefire NCAA team, probably a sweet 16 team and an outside shot at the final four. There's no reason to be alarmed I mean we had it within one point with like 5 minutes to go. Plus we're still feeling the effects of the Tyndall era and all the scholarships we lost"

Really, really hope this group of vets leaves an environment that the young bucks want to shoulder the burden to carry on. Meaning, after this year when Freeman/Tribble/Hunter/Ali are gone, there's a sense of pride in what is being built at Akron and there isn't an exodus by the talented guys like Baker, Nate, etc.

I was thinking the same thing, that I couldn't recall seeing Lyles and the box score confirmed my memory. He was in during a period of the SDSU game, and it was full of flaws. Not sure the speed is quite there, whether it's an athleticism issue, game speed issue, or both. I expect him and Prather to play 39 minutes vs. Heidelberg.

This is a pre-season exhibition that somehow found its way onto our actual schedule. I will loathe these games until I'm 6 ft under, then I'll yell from the heavens at these stupid, high-risk-low-reward games against non-DI opponents.
