Embick may forever live in the shadows of Porter, and that would be an absolute travesty. With less talent, Embick has arguably accomplished more (aside from winning it all) than Porter. That's not to discredit Porter or pit the two against each other, but more of an appreciation for the greatness that has been at the helm of this program for nearly 2 decades.

He was an All-Pro returner before the ACL injury. I don't think he'll have any issues latching onto another team with 4.38 40 speed.

Wright State - first regular season game
Let'sGoZips94 replied to TennZip's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
It'll be interesting to see how Wright State's season ends up. 7-1 is a total butt whooping. Go Zips! -
Oh. I didn't realize the unvaccinated were responsible for the 💩 seasons and attendance prior to the Plandemic. Thank you for enlightening me.

2021-2022 Akron Zips Basketball- Looking Forward

Oof. I'll be "social distancing" from the JAR until OU/KSUcks/Canada/etc., come to town (assuming the Southwest Airlines Variant - or any other BS "variant" - isn't wreaking havoc on the sports world). #BeatPointPark -

I always enjoy having UMASS on the schedule. Obviously not what it once was, but it's better than Peeon U. -
Bumped out of position and never recovered. Ce la vie. Always great to see a Zip perform on the biggest stage for their respective sport/talent. Would've been cool had the broadcast mentioned the University of Akron, but beggars can't be choosers.

2019 Revenue by Conference Big Ten $768.9 million SEC: $728.9 million Pac-12: $533.8 million ACC: $496.7 million Big 12: $409.2 million It would be interesting to see if the ACC follows in the Big 12's footsteps and member schools begin contacting the Big Ten & SEC. The PAC12 can hold its own, especially if it adds some Big12 defects, due to its west coast proximity. If the Power 5 becomes the Power 3, does this help or hurt college athletics? Do G5 schools look to combine, creating better G5 conferences?

Big12 will pick off the AAC, causing the AAC to refill. Too many big wigs & money tied up in the Big12.

Texas Tech, TCU, and another school have apparently reached out to the Pac12. Kansas has apparently reached out to the Big Ten. Hang on to your hats, ladies and gents. Goodness, this is going to be wild.

2021-2022 Akron Zips Basketball- Looking Forward
Let'sGoZips94 replied to clarkwgriswold's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Well, it would've helped had we actually won more of those games (Nevada... VCU... Oklahoma St.... etc.). I think this is they type of tourney Groce and the team need at this point. There were a lot of moving parts in the offseason, including the expected departure of LCJ. The same thing happened before last year, and the team never had the chance to really figure themselves out early on. This is their opportunity to do that this season. -

Per this link, the participants include... Mon.–Wed., Nov. 22–24: Estero, Fla. (The D1 Docket) Akron (MAC) Appalachian State (Sun Belt) Delaware (CAA) Evansville (MVC) Fordham (A 10) Oakland (Horizon) Rice (C-USA) Vermont (AE) I don't mind it. Evansville has made noise in the notorious MVC. Fordham brings in the A10, with Rice bringing in the CUSA. Vermont is a perennial NCAA Tournament team. Here is a resource to see if anything else comes up. -

1st thought: ROAD TRIP! Avenge the 2016 choke job. 2nd thought: OSUcks is staying very close to home for the majority of this schedule. I wonder if we'll see something similar for our schedule, or if we'll have to branch out and travel more. -
MAC Men’s Basketball - Catch-all Thread

Not necessarily. If there's a chance, he'll stay in, because even a chance at getting drafted means Europe success is a guarantee. -

The MAC just took a huge blow with this departure. I'm not upset. Path of least resistance. Good luck to Mr. Preston - he's going to make a lot of money in either the NBA or Europe. Go Zips! -

Maybe Sac State should take a look in the mirror at why one of their top players is coming to Akron. Plus, LCJ's IQ is at least 100 pts too high for KSUcks. Never worried for a second. He almost did with his flop at the end of this. I remember hearing his body/head hitting the JAR floor. -

KJ Walton is one heck of a get. 54% FG because he gets to the hoop. Massive change of pace guy for this offense. The men's basketball program is way more efficient. Men's Basketball: $4000 raised for 0 National Championships. Men's Soccer: $20k+ raised for 1 National Championship. Final Fours are even more daunting in efficiency... -
Not to get off-topic in this thread, but this is exactly how it should be. Coaches can leave a program without having to sit out the next season, so players should be able to as well. The one-time cap is nice as well in preventing the constant transferring of an individual athlete.

Which discussions we will not be having this season
Let'sGoZips94 replied to 1981 grad's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Bud Light's got you covered. -
According to Gainesville and Kentucky fan articles, the transfer sit-out rule has been waived for at least one more year. So we should see Mr. Castaneda on the floor this fall for the Zips, dressed, and dropping buckets in-game.
