  1. The through ball by the Cornell player was one of the prettiest passes I've ever seen in a soccer match. Chest-high bullet volley that split the Akron defenders to give the Cornell attacker the advantage. What a save by Mitch to prevent that from being the highlight of the year for Cornell.
  2. It's Laramie, WY. You either attend the football game or go cow tipping.
  3. Ya know what, good for Wyoming for beating us. Having to play in the snow in early October is asinine. Not sure their fans would've deserved this plus a loss to Akron.
  4. This is how it should be. Hopefully the football team can keep this going. A competitive football season into a NCAA tourney run for soccer, into one of the most anticipated Zips basketball seasons could really be the momentum athletically the University needs to get back on track.
  5. In the world of NIL, we should be asking recruits to rank the top 5 players of all time at their position. Any type of reward for this level of stupidity should be punished similarly to Akron's academic postseason bowl ban. Who knows how he is as a student, but he is certainly not a student of the game. 😂
  6. Is it possible to make the first post on this thread a running tracker of where all the Zips are at the pro level? Or at least keep a running tracker somewhere in the soccer section?
  7. What a showing by the Zips.
  8. No offense to Zips soccer, but I hope anyone interested in the Guardians is at that game instead. My kids and I are going to the Guardians game - gotta let Skubal know he's well loved in Cleveland. We're actually sitting near where Lane Thomas hit the grand slam. Weather should be great, though, and the student turnout needs to be good tonight. Every match is big when you have a championship-caliber team. Right the ship tonight and let's get back on track. Go Zips (and Guardians)!
  9. This is the way and @Zips1991 is spot on. It's the best kept secret in Akron athletics, although it looks like more and more people are utilizing this trick. I bought a season ticket for football solely so I could move all but 1 game to the Wyoming game. It ended up being quite a bit cheaper for my family to attend the Wyoming game, and I still have a ticket to the Kent game, plus the parking pass. I also did the same for basketball this year, but haven't figured out which games I want to attend. With 3 kids (6, 3, and 5 months), it's the most convenient way to attend Akron sporting events. You can email Matt or call the ticket office and they've been very good about making any changes in a timely manner. Early congratulations on the marriage!
  10. And it's one of the coolest basketball venues. They did well.
  11. How in the world was that offsides?
  12. Bummer to hear about this. Maybe he can come home and build our soccer NIL program.
  13. The issue with JoeMo goes beyond the X's and O's. He's a poor leader of men, doesn't adapt, and seemingly has zero issue using excuses as a crutch. NIL won't help with the intangibles he lacks as a head coach. @catdaddyp has broken down the talent on this roster that JoeMo consistently underachieves with. We need a coach to say to Hell with the BS, we're going to win some damn football games. Someone has to possess this type of attitude that's required to hold those above him and around him accountable, and turn around this program. That's an absurd statement. The University of Akron is a public higher education institution that literally does nothing but spend others' money, and they do it poorly. I was merely pointing out the importance of a donor stepping up and funding the termination of JoeMo so the program can move forward, just like we've seen at a number of other schools. It would be awesome if the football program could find their Bud Wentz, someone who is so passionate about the Zips that he does whatever it takes and is creative in boosting the football program.
  14. Joe's firing needs to be on the donors. Kaulig or someone needs to step up and fund the buyout.
  15. It is so fitting that Akron and the Cleveland Browns are partners. Last Sunday, the Browns held the Bengals to 7 yds of total offense in the second half and lost. Last night, the Zips held UAB to 0 second half points and lost. When there's no mental pressure on Finley, he's a fine MAC QB. The moment any weight gets put on his shoulders, he folds like a very cheap lawn chair. He brought the Zips back from the dead in that game, but once it got within a score, he panicked in the pocket, missed his reads, etc. Someone on the Zips fan Facebook group stated they were at the game and heard tons of chaos on the Zips sideline. JoeMo was yelling at people and there was tons of confusion with play calls. JoeMo has to go. Let the interim coach get his feet wet vs. Duquesne. This program needs a glimmer of hope and that can only be accomplished with a HC search. UAB and Wyoming were the cornerstone pieces of a successful season this year. Two pathetic G5 programs with semi-decent name recognition, and we flopped vs. both. Bye Joe.
  16. Waaaaiiiitttt just a minute! JoeMo may get a ride home!
  17. Incredible. Leave Joe Mo in Birmingham. He loves The South.
  18. What else is there to do in Vermont in September? Collect maple syrup? Sing the Sound of Music while they wait for the Von Trapp Family Lodge to open their skiing? I'm kidding, I'm kidding. Love seeing mid major soccer rise to prominence. This is going to be a good match. Can't wait and Go Zips! z.i.P.S. Put me down for an emphasis on more promotional items related to soccer. Scarves, bobbleheads, replica 2010 National Championship trophy, etc.
  19. Cary (I looked last night out of curiosity myself).
  20. Win on Saturday and Akron will be #2 at worst next week with the most difficult part of the schedule behind us.
  21. GOOOOOAAAALLLL 4-0 with 17 minutes to play (I know this is late; forgot to hit send)
  22. Penalty Kick for Akron. GOOOAAALLL!!!! 3-0 Akron. 37 minutes to play.
  23. ANOTHER GOAL! 2-0 with 25 minutes to play in the 1st half.
