I mentioned this in the other thread. There should be 2 winners and at the very least they should co-develop the game plan (would make it even cooler for the fan to be able to meet the celebrity). Could even make it 2 drives in the game (1st drive of each half?) and have it be a competition between the 2 winners for the most successful drive. Someone mentioned in the other thread that there will be a press conference for the selection.

1) If the NCAA comes down on this promo after so much success, the backlash will be against them, not Akron. 2) No idea but this would be a nice touch. 3) Too late for most schools to copy this. Probably will see some copycats next year, maybe to a lesser extent late this season, but Akron being the first will always be referenced as the first. 4) I hope they rig it and make sure a celebrity wins it. That would ultimately be the best for the progrum attention wise.

It's week 2 and Ohio State plays at Texas that day. Unless we beat Wake Forest and the flu cancels the Ohio State/Texas game, I'm going to temper national attention expectations on gameday haha. However, I could see a Barstool podcast doing a "gameday" from Akron on that Saturday. Wild stat. Barstool's BigCat said he bought $600 worth of season tickets, so it's not just 1 entry people are buying. I also think there's a general sentiment where it's fun to support creative programs like this. Like Kreed said, the decimal point is moved to the left quite a bit for some of the larger local companies and it's a negligible use of funds. Very feasible for our affordable "luxury" suites to be sold it (and should be).

Speaking of ACC, imagine how much run this will get in the ACC Network coverage of our week 1 game at Wake. Better yet, imagine the momentum the program will be carrying if we're competitive with Wake.

I think we need to rethink the winner. I say we have a celebrity winner & a fan winner and they each get 1 whole drive.

The majority of any season ticket sales generated from this promotion are season tickets that otherwise wouldn't have sold. I don't care if the Info sits mostly empty again, this is already successful. Bonus points if it turns into an attendance bump.

This is truly incredible. Some of the early comments were talking about how meaningless this will ultimately be for the winner. Red carpet treatment is more along the lines of what the winner will be getting. As Kreed said, August 19th will be national news and then imagine if that opening drive actually goes for a touchdown on Sept. 12th...

There are essentially 6 tickets you get with your season ticket purchase. Assuming nothing has changed, you can call the ticket office to move tickets from other games to 1 or 2 games if that's all you can attend and/or would like to bring other people. I believe it works out to be cheaper than buying individual tickets for said game and has worked very well for my family in years past. Plus, you get the parking pass. For example, last year I took my kids to the Wyoming game, but a season ticket covered all the tickets we needed.
