Lol, I love the Tarver reference.

For those interested here is a link to a fantastic midmajor blog, fittingly called the midmajority.Click meThey have a highly complex and sophisticated ranking system for every team in a midmajor conference. Here is an excerpt from the last post regarding these rankings:"1. Drake (Missouri Valley), 105.78, 20-1 (11-0) [1]Let's put this year's Bulldogs season in Valley perspective and stark relief. Now that they've won against each of the other nine teams (and have already recorded sweeps against Creighton and Indiana State), they have broken a lot of losing streaks against a lot of teams. Coming into this year, Drake had lost to Missouri State 10 times in a row, Creighton six times, and Bradley three. And, of course, there was that 17-game drought against Southern Illinois. Get this: over the last decade, Drake has only enjoyed winning records against two MVC teams, their former cellar-mates Evansville (12-9) and Indiana State (13-8). This really is a special year.2. Virginia Commonwealth (Colonial), 95.543, 16-5 (9-2) [2]Poor Towson. The Tigers had to absorb all the frustration the Rams stored up for four days after losing to George Mason last Tuesday on ESPN2. In the 65-42 beatdown, they held Towson to 25 percent shooting and out-rebounded them by nine, which gave them enough index juice to stay just ahead of..."from the bottom:Notables below:32. George Mason (Colonial); 33. Stephen F. Austin (Southland); 40. Western Kentucky (Sun Belt); 47. Oral Roberts (Summit League); 61. Utah State (Western Athletic); 75. Dayton (Atlantic 10); 87. Akron (Mid-American); 246. New Jersey Tech (Independents)."No doubt Akron's poor ranking is due in large part to their lame non-conf. schedule, but this game proves that we can make some noise considering VCU is so high. I'm definitely looking forward to this matchup.

w00t... you pwn. You pretty much hit the nail on the head. Your sanity is much appreciated.
-
No worries Districtballer, no one here thinks that AP is anywhere near the level of VCU... after all you did beat Duke in the tourney last year. CK is just saying that it could be somewhat of a letdown if you are upset about getting a "crappy draw," cause it could get a whole lot worse if you lose when you weren't expecting to.Every year some teams are happy with their draw and some aren't... it's kinda the way it has to go. We look forward to seeing you soon; keep winning in the meantime.

I think it's funny the board changed Tyrone "K.e.n.t.'s" name. But yes, huge win for the Zips. Nice to beat a team by 15 that beats Can't the next game.
-
In my humble opinion Can't is not better this year than they were last year. We do not "live and die by the three" considering Wood is our leading scorer and usually our number one option. Lastly, Ham n' cheese has been the one over the last few years that does not step up in big games... does anyone ever remember him having a good game against us? He's horribly overrated. I say Akron in a close one. I find your lack of faith disturbing, zipsbandman.

It's going to take a strong contigent of Akron fans to be there and to be maniacaly loud. We need the type of fans that we had at the OU game. The ones that can drive a team foward when they're not doing well.I am bringing 7 Zips fans with me in the reserved section on the opposite side of the benches to help the cause. Hopefully we can get a good amount of Rowdies there before the game sells out. All I want for my birthday is a Zips win!

I would if I didn't work in Cleveland until 5:30 on Wednesday and have to be back in Cleveland by 7 on Thursday morning. Believe me, I wish I could go...
-
Will the game with Dayton be televised on Wednesday? This might be the the biggest game of the year considering Dayton is 11-1 and will soon be in the top 25. Any sort of viewing party or something like that going on anywhere? I have to watch this game!

I've voted 10 times trying to get him back in it. Come on zipsnation.

Letter To Coach Dambrot, Coaches & Team.
meatwad replied to Zip Watcher's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
thanks KD and players for your hardwork.*signed* -
Oh heck yes we should accept the preseason NIT. It would be dumb not to. the level of play is far superior to whatever tournament we were in this year (UALR and Gardner-webb). Look what the preseason NIT did for Bulter this year. I wouldnt bank on anything though... but i think it would be stupid to turn it down.

is anybody an insider that can get us the rest of this story... i would be very interested what he has to say. I HATE having to pay to read things online. LAME.
-
Take out Milum insert Linhart and I think that's it.
-
Yeah, i think they're going to do away with football right after approving 120 million for a new stadium. Let's not get crazy here.
-
just go to foxsports.comthey still use that as our logo for some reason.

I think that in the end Lolla leaving might be good for the soccer program. Let's give Caleb a year or two and we will be right back in the top 5 in the nation in my opinion. This is a sidenote and not relevant really to the topic at hand.... but at this point good news is much needed.

That is scary stuff... God please don't let this happen.
-
I've been trying to think of an analogy for what happened and this is the best I could come up with... it might not make any sense. If you leave for work late one day because you accidentally (or purposefully) slept in and on your way to work you were hit by a truck that runs a red light who would you blame? Based on some people's logic you should blame yourself because if you had left on time you wouldn't have been hit by the truck. But clearly the truck is at fault. I look at the time situation the same way. Sure, if Cedrick had hit the FT then its a moot point, but he didn't and the rules demand that the timer GET IT RIGHT. He didn't and it unalterably changed the game. If he starts it on time, there is no way that Penno takes a pump fake on Dials. He has to throw that ball up sooner than he thought. There's no way of knowing the outcome, but in my opinion you can't blame the players. They put themselves in a position to win. Thats really all you can ask for.

YOu might want to consider sending this to Kyle Whelliston at www.midmajority.comHe writes for ESPN as well, and I think he would eat something like this up. Just a thought.

Good to hear from you steve..... welcome to "the nation." The future is still bright for the Zips.
