  1. Here is my thought. Not that I have any great insight but the whole Bardo/Sweich situation is an interesting one I think. I'm sure you've heard this answer before but we need to trust that the coaching staff knows what they are doing. They are at practice every day, they see what the players are doing against their peers. But my honest take on Sweich is that he is just too slow. Not only that but his defense certainly isn't where Dambrot demands it be before he can get playing time. I agree with you that Bardo probably could have been better this year, but he showed signs of life for sure. I wouldn't give up on him yet. We knew coming in that Bardo was a project, so give it a bit more time and see if he develops. This is why we need Zeke though. I would honestly be shocked if he didn't start from day 1. There is no project here. He will be ready to play and contribute defensively and offensively from the first game.
  2. Portland was nice, but not my kind of city though. Although, I don't really know what my kind of city is. One thing I will say about Portland is that I was surprised at how much trash there was lying around on the sides of the highway. For being Hippie Capital USA, I was shocked at how dirty it was.I will however say that Stanford's Bar and Grill makes the most amazing Turkey Dip Sandwich. We went twice so I could enjoy it one more time. The place is only in Washington/Oregon though. Shame.
  3. I agree that the impact on the Zips is minimal. But whether you think Gonzaga is "mid-major" enough for you or not is not really the point. They play in the freaking West Coast Conference. You cannot possibly tell me that they are not "mid major" anymore. They still are, they're just good every year. You sure as heck were rooting for George Mason when they got to the final four right? This really has digressed from the point of the thread but I'm not letting this go that no one here should be cheering for Carolina over Gonzaga. I thought this was a no brainer.
  4. They are still a hell of a lot more "mid-major" than UNC. And all of the Gonzaga fans that I came across (here, on their board, and at the game) were classy and complimentary of the Zips program.F the Tar Heels.
  5. Are you serious? Why the heck would you cheer for NC over Gonzaga?
  6. I agree that it would be nice to get up to 4000, but I don't know that is realistic. Think about the jump that is from our average of about 900 this year.I'd almost be happy with anything at this point. I do however agree with the point that others have made about the soccer and track and field facilities being at the same place being a bad idea. It keeps the fans way too far away, and it impedes drainage of the field as well (which we all know will be important going forward). Either way, I'm excited about the prospects of the soccer team getting an upgrade.
  7. I must say that for a brief moment I thought ZippyRifle was talking about myself and the fans I was with. I second your thoughts GoZips.
  8. The two points were awesome though.
  9. This was literally one of the best sports experiences of my life. From the MAC tourney to the trip to Portland thank you Zips for the amazing year. Already looking forward to next year!
  10. Let me ask you this... where do you make your bets? Are you going to Vegas for the games or do you have some sort of online site that you use?
  11. Stop being a douche. Not one person from Akron has said anything remotely negative about Gonzaga on your boards but for some reason you see the need to come on our board and disparage us for some reason.Let me tell you something, jackass. You're the 4 seed, you're supposed to win. But you guys do have a history of flameouts being higher seeds lately, so maybe you'll want to shut up until you accomplish something this year.
  12. Siena got hosed. They only got a fictional charter to be their "famous alumni." Can they be famous if they are not real?
  13. Haha, I second that one. I was born a few months before the Zips made the dance.
  14. I'm pretty sure I realized you were going
  15. I liked that too haha.
  16. So sorry Zip Watcher. I was looking forward to meeting you in person. Perhaps in Memphis
  17. RootforRooI'm also flying into Seattle. Rental car from Budget Rental can get you a pretty good deal. The 3 hour drive down to Portland will be fun.
  18. Sure it counts. Awesome experience for you I'm sure.
  19. More than anything I think it speaks to how bad Bowling Green's non conference schedule was. Their RPI was only 180 (no wonder Lunardi had them as a 16 seed in the NCAA). Akron and Buffalo both ended up in the 90's and I believe Miami was low 80s. BG just didn't play anyone to give them a chance. I wouldn't read too much into BG getting the 8 in the NIT.
  20. Time is running out if you haven't booked yet to go to Portland. What Nation faithful will be able to swing the expense and the time commitment of this trip?I will start out by saying that I have waited (Literally) my whole life for this. I'm so there.Edit: of course for some reason I can't spell "roll call" but you get the idea...
  21. 9 clicks for me. Interesting site.
  22. Not that it really matters though, because as I understand there is usually a surplus of tickets at the event itself for purchase. Maybe not in the "zips" section, but I'm sure getting in will not be a problem.
  23. Miami did NOT get blown out. I believe they lost by 3 or 4?
  24. Unfortunately I will be on a plane to Colorado Springs. I'm going to try and catch it on the interwebs if I land in time and the game is delayed a bit. Will miss Friday too when we win, but I will be back for Saturday night!
  25. I love that thing. I'm just curious what the mascot is for other sports such as golf or football. Does that thing change is head based on the season?Gotta love being PC and not being allowed to have a mascot match up to your nickname.
