Anyone know where I can find old basketball rosters from the 90's? Nothing I could find on gozips.com.

How many Zips possessions did we miss because of unnecessary replays. Then at the end, they turn off the monitors and go home.

Probably could've gotten called for an offensive foul on that last play. That's what the coach was complaining about. Stolen is right. Still a W.

As an official myself, it is crucial to a good officiated game to talk to the players. Typically prior to a lane violation, the official would have yelled to the offending player "get out of the key 12. get out of the key 12!". Then if #12 doesn't get out, he gets whistled. It's another reason why the only people that call it "3 seconds" are the coaches and fans. It is called a lane violation. Typically it will not get called until about 4-5 seconds. Another common situation is rough block play. "Hands off number 6, hands off!" is usually said before the call comes. The standing joke among officials is that we don't get paid by the hour, so each time we blow the whistle the clock stops! All this said, I take exception with the comment that it is a young officiating crew's fault that Green fouled out. If I watched the game and saw some picky calls, I might agree, but I have worked games where you know the good players and have seen them play many times. Then that player comes out and either makes stupid mistakes, plays harder than normal or is out matched by a stronger offensive player and uses his hands to compensate. Trust me when I tell you that an official that makes it to the MAC has gone through years and years of intense training and scrutiny and deserves to be there. I would argue the officiating is the most consistent thing on the court and the play and players is what changes.

Pathetic. What crap does STO have on right now? Some stupid bass fishing rerun?? No one thought it would be a good idea to air this game? NE Ohio sports coverage sucks donkey balls.

Sorry, but I happen to have an inside source on this one. The journalist has a good record and his sources were also good. It's just that they were not infallible. No need to trash someone just because we don't agree with their conclusion. Todd Porter's been around a long time. I do trust what he says. However, knowing the Suppository and their slant, I also know Porter would be salivating at the chance to prove Tressel is not coming to UA. The Suppository, for some reason, has a serious hatred of all things Akron. If you lived in Canton you would too.....out of jealousy!

Time Warner NEO I am watching on ESPN3.com through my laptop hooked up to the LCD widescreen. Ausio is through the surround sound stereo system. Next best thing to it being on the cable box! If you have TWC, you must crest a free MyServices account to login to ESPN3. -
From where I stand, the team on paper looks pretty damn good. They were loaded with seniors, brought in some good talent in the off season and have a high school All-American playing for them. I don't know why everyone is so quick to downplay the talent on the team. They have better talent than Can't State and showed it last night. Can't State was the No.1 seed and there is no way that team has more talent than Akron. We ARE a talented team. Talent yes, but talent alone doesn't win championships. They had a slew of young players and much of the chemistry was disrupted by these younger players getting more time. What KD does as a coach is not just calling plays but determining what combination works in what scenario. My point is that other coaches would not have the ability to take the talent on paper and mold it into a championship team.

..but it makes it taste just a wee bit better!

I'm sure several of you know what boards the Can't fans post on. I am wondering what they are whining about today? Anyone care to post some links? I imagine that there are threads on "the refs suck" and "how ghetto it was that the Akron players trampled their on-floor tantrum" to name a few.

They weren't ready to play last night. In fact, they were terrible the first 5-7 minutes of the game. The players found it within themselves to play better after that. IMO opinion, that comment is just ignorance. KD deserves praise not for one game or not even for one tournament. It goes back 7 years worth of recruiting, wins, losses and more. He took a team that, at least on paper, looked above average at best. He put the kids in position to determine their destiny. At the end of the day, the coach doesn't motivate, the players motivate themselves. The coach doesn't make or miss shots, the players do. The coach doesn't foul or turn the ball over, the players do. The coach simply creates the right mixture, the chemistry, on and off of the court and hopes that his recipe works. You simply can't judge 7 years of work on 7 minutes of poor shooting at the beginning of a much-hyped championship game which was the fourth game in 5 days for a team that wasn't expected to even be in the building on Saturday. Just my two cents....

FYI - It looks just as embarassing when Zips fans continuously whine about referee conspiracies. I'm whole heartedly with you on this one captain. Forget the damn refs. When they don't call fouls, then people complain. When they call fouls, then people complain. Play very well and remove the a ility for bad refereeing to cost you a game. Diggs deserved the T. I would've whacked him too. Same thing for WMU's #5. T foul and ejection were all appropriate. GO ZIPS!

Are these the best in-bound plays we can draw up on a time out?? Why are we SO sloppy with the basketball?I love Dambrot, but I just don't understand this type of play.
