  1. 2 of which should go to current walk-ons, correct? Brandon Bischoff & one other, IIRC. If it's accurate that Tony Grimes, Jr. was a walk-on I have to think he's gonna be put on scholarship. But I haven't seen anyone tweet saying they've verballed to Akron. St. Thomas Aquinas (OH) WR Asian Burt's father has been tweeting some ambiguous tweets and it sounds like Asian's going to at least be offered a PWO opportunity with UA.
  2. It’s earlier in this thread (I’m certain it must be this thread), but do you guys remember the heat Groce took from some former posters on this site when he was hired and especially as he struggled through his first season? A couple former posters seemed to have downright disdain for Groce. Seems like ancient history now.
  3. Earlier in the thread there was a little back & forth in regards to Mentor QB Ian Kipp. Well, Kipp verballed to Kent, so we’ll get to see how he fares in the MAC. He’ll just be wearing blue & pee, not blue & gold.
  4. Listening to an interview with Brandon Staley(sp?) on the Doug Gottlieb show. He sounds JUST like Coach Arth. Lol
  5. Idk, but I still wish we could have played New Mexico State, YSU, and UMass. The upcoming season's schedule is absolutely brutal.
  6. Correct. Just making conversation.
  7. ^^Posted this a.m. by Coach Rodriguez. I'm guessing Arth's staying. (Though what a cushy gig - NFL QB coach in southern CA. Lol.)
  8. I never said he's not a solid dude. Lol. And he's certainly not a whiner. He looks to have a lack of confidence (fragile psyche). I've also said fragile ego. By that I also mean a lack of confidence, not that he's a jerk. Even after he hit the game winner, if you look at the replay he collapsed on the floor almost in a sense of relief instead of being excited about it. I can empathize with Dailey because that's exactly how I was as a competitor. I was harder on myself than any coach could ever be (I always needed a coach to tell me to lighten up and stop taking a game so seriously and to have fun) and I was always nervous about underperforming and letting the team down. Bringing Dailey off the bench may ruin his fragile sense of confidence. On the other hand, it may take pressure off of him & allow him to just come in & let it all hang out. Idk.
  9. LCJ will have his jersey in the rafters one day. He's the best Zip I've ever seen. As someone mentioned earlier, this will almost certainly be his final year now that he has a baby. He's gotta start making an income. The one who blows my mind is Freeman. Without him we likely wouldn't have won a single game yet this year. Simply amazing. The announcers mentioned Freeman leads the MAC in rebounding. Wonder if that's only MAC game totals, or season totals. If it is season totals, we should play Malone every year. Lol. Another simple but important point about Freeman: he rarely makes mistakes. He is always in correct defensive and rebounding positions and always looking for the pass on offense. Again, just amazing. I think we should start Dawson and bring Dailey off the bench. I know this may be a blow to Dailey's seemingly very fragile psyche. But there's less pressure & lower expectations coming off the bench; just come in and let it all hang out and give us high energy minutes. Be our Sixth Man. And maybe be on the floor at the end of the game, when it really matters. By the time he's a junior, GaRvin Clarke will have All-MAC potential.
  10. Exactly. I love to hate Buffalo. I love to hate Ohio. And I love to hate Toledo. But I simply loathe Kent.
  11. Been struggling. Big time.
  12. 3rd quarter or 2nd half? I prefer 4 quarters to 2 halves; gives the teams an extra timeout & 2 more chances per game for fun & momentum-swinging buzzer-beaters. P.s. I’m not trying be a smart ass, I know the NCAA was tossing around the possibility of going w/ 4 quarters & maybe this strange COVID year is giving conferences some flexibility?
  13. I like it. I also like only 8 teams going to Cleveland. It makes the regular season more meaningful.
  14. I know the MAC East is tough, but OU's been a disappointment.
  15. That's some old school basketball.
  16. Wow. Nice left-handed finish from Tribble.
  17. Lotta bench time for Dailey.
  18. Young combo on the court. Clarke, Tribble, Dawson, and Marshall. Plus Reece. See how the young bucks do.
  19. So far this season Dailey's been a colossal disappointment for me. Remembering his game from high school I was thrilled when he transferred here. 6-7, quick, can handle the ball, drive with either hand, and a smooth stroke from 3. Crazy talented. I know he didn't do well at Iowa, but in Groce I trust and I thought Groce's loooooooong leashes and green lights and uptempo style would get Dailey going and he'd blossom. But not thus far. And this with Groce really grooming him & massaging his ego/confidence. Maishe's still just playing like he's got butterflies the size of Mothra.
  20. It just dawned on my that with the season in the spring this year we missed David Egbo's senior season ??
