I agree. I don't know the ins & outs of how a national search firm works, but I'm assuming it largely has a lot to do with covering Larry's & UA's backside. I'm sure Larry has already been in contact with his preferred candidates. (Seriously, he's probably been in conversation with his preferred candidate(s) for over a year. Not offering the job but just talking football & offering some hypothetical "winks.") Though, IIRC, the national search firm identified Bowden as a candidate 7 years ago.

Great article. I know we're hiring a national search firm, but you've got to think LW, being a football guy, already has his short list of guys he's just salivating to talk to. This has probably consumed his thinking over the last few years. I'd be shocked were that not the case.

He can do whatever he wants. He could spend every day the rest of his life sipping margaritas on a beach if he'd want to. He's got absolutely no worries.

I’m watching the first half on replay, and to give GT the benefit of the doubt, it really is pretty ugly.

He also points out problems we've been griping about for years now. In fairness, the Zips lost Brandon Council, their starting right tackle, after the Iowa State game. It also points to a lack of depth on the line. Losing a single lineman should not doom an entire unit. Precisely. Same goes with QB. I've been perplexed over the Bowden tenure that we didn't recruit a QB every year. That is par for the course & cost us a bowl game two years ago. To me, it just feels like we've stopped progressing and have been on a treadmill for a number of years. I'm hoping we go in a new direction.

I agree. It's a rivalry game. I have no problem that they rubbed it in. I actually kind of like it; just serves to make me look forward even more to next year's game. I also have no problem that it pisses us off. It should. Like I said, it's a rivalry.

Mentor is a QB factory. Last year’s QB (drawing a blank on his name -Tataurunas or something Greek like that?) didn’t end up going D-1 but he was one of the best QB’s in the state.
