  1. Can't game needs to be played early in the season - maybe 1st conference game? Either Buffalo or Ohio could be played on "Rivalry Week." I'd bet Ohio's rivalry with us is more intense than their rivalry with Miami is. I know they're right up there with Can't for me. I love to hate Ohio. And I'm pretty sure the feeling is mutual.

  3. Did Jordan Davis sign?
  4. I believe today was the early-signing day? Any news?
  5. Agreed. If Canton McKinley's soccer team was still in the state playoffs there'd be a daily Sports Section front page story about them in the Canton Repository. Very strange disconnect with the ABJ.
  6. We played the game with our backup center - Stephen Erikson. http://www.ohio.com/sports/zips/backup-center-does-outstanding-job-for-zips-1.639514
  7. I can't make the game tonight, so for those who do go, please give us lots of details. Who's the starting lineup? Does Josh Williams start? Do any of the other three freshmen play? It's obviously going to be a bit skewed against Malone, but do any of the players look like they've made Pat-like, or Cheathum-like jumps as those two did last year? How's Big Dog's weight look? I'd also love a report on Jimmond Ivey. Do any of the players seem to have a natural chemistry on the floor? Malone's going to be going all-out & playing to win. Does Dambrot even care? Probably not. Probably just going to work on finding rotations & experimenting with some things on offense & playing the young guys. But we still want to give a good showing.
  8. Lol. And one of the ZN members will accuse the other of being the player's dad.
  9. PG: Robotham/Antino SG: Williams/Ivey SF: Kretzer/McAdams PF: Cheatham/Aaron Jackson(?) C: Forsythe/Big Dog With Williams @ "SG" that gives us 2 interchangeable lead guards on the court w/ Robotham @ "PG". Williams & Robotham are almost clones of each other. Ivey is more of a pure SG.

  18. Depressing game. Excellent photography!!!
  19. Triple-Double Prospects has Isaiah Williams rated as the 4th best power forward in the state of Ohio's class of 2016. http://tripledoubleprospects.com/2016-player-rankings/
  20. Triple-Double Prospects has Jordan Davis ranked as the 5th best center in Ohio for the class of 2016. http://tripledoubleprospects.com/2016-player-rankings/
  21. Coolest picture I've seen in a while. No wonder the team is so tightly-knit. https://instagram.com/p/8000Idht6F/ Go Zips!
  22. Okay, we discuss this from time-to-time, but I'm obviously slow on the uptake. I'm confused about this. We have 13 scholarships to hand out. Currently all 13 are used. After this year we lose Reggie McAdams, Jake Kretzer and Pat Forsythe. That opens up THREE scholarships for next year. But we've got FIVE verbal commits for next year: Craig Eubanks, Tavian Dunn-Martin, Isaiah Williams, Jordan Davis, and Michael Hughes. That puts us 2 over the limit. What gives? Everyone on the current roster seems quite happy being a Zip. The only player I could see possibly transferring elsewhere to look for more playing time is Aaron Jackson, but he seems to simply love being on the team. I just don't see how the numbers work out.
  23. Jerome Lane, our very own Megatron
  24. Good preseason practice report from GT of the ABJ. http://www.ohio.com/sports/zips/university-of-akron-men-s-basketball-zips-hopeful-of-another-successful-season-as-practice-begins-1.631786#
  25. Another obvious aspect about Van Edwards that I failed to mention is that he looks quite a bit faster than either Hundley or Alexander. He's got more home run potential than either of our current 2-deep.
