  1. VerbalCommits.com has listed us as having extended an offer to 2016 SG Maishe Daily. The coaching staff must really want to sign a SG next year, as they currently have 5 scholarships extended to 2016 SG's. They also have 3 schollies extended to WF's - one of which is spoken for by Isaiah Williams. All this while only having one single scholarship extended to who would be considered a post player (Jordan Davis). This is just a bit surprising to me, considering our roster's current makeup. Do we have something cooking with a transfer post player? Is Olojakpoke taller than advertised & is the coaching staff expecting him to develop into a 4? If not, then it really looks like our depth is going to be a bit shallow in the front court after Pat graduates next year.
  2. VerbalCommits has us extending an offer to 2016 6'6" SG Maishe Daily. He's got quite an impressive offer list - 20 schools & counting. http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/maishe-dailey

  5. Why would anyone give that even ten seconds of their time? Why would the Beacon Journal even mention it?

  7. Future Akron Zip Isaiah Williams Dominates the Paint https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dyCE9PE5M4&feature=youtu.be "Dayton Stivers and King James Shooting Stars big man Isaiah Williams is a dominant threat on the low block, helping King James to their second Super Showcase title in three years. Williams also spent time earlier in the summer and spring with All-Ohio Red."
  8. Anyone know whether we're still pursuing Jordan Davis? Now that Tavian Dunn-Martin has verballed, I don't believe we have anymore scholarships available for next season (according to VerbalCommits.com). http://www.verbalcommits.com/schools/akron If not, it looks like we're a bit guard-heavy next year.

  10. Speaking of OL, no Montel Jordan.

  14. We don't deserve him. We should have offered Baddley at least 8 months ago. His raw athleticism is literally breathtaking.

  17. Per Ohio.com. Another shot at a professional spring football league. They'd like to play @ the Info. http://www.ohio.com/sports/beaven/major-league-football-shows-interest-in-placing-a-franchise-in-akron-1.613228?cache=..%2F..%2F..%2F..%2F..%2F..%2F..%2F..%2F..%2F..%2F..%2F..%2F Apparently they're also in talks with Oklahoma City; Orlando, Fla.; Norfolk, Va.; Eugene, Ore.; Little Rock, Ark; & Birmingham, Ala. They'd like to kick off this spring - 2016.
  18. Lord have mercy - he's 6-feet behind the arc on some of those 3's! edit: on Roo's VerbalCommits.com link.
  19. I prefer four quarters to two halves. Everyone loves buzzer-beaters & having four quarters gives you two more chances for a buzzer-beater per game. They provide big surges of momentum for the team who ends a quarter well. It's one of the things I prefer about high school basketball to the college game... actually, probably the only thing. Lol
  20. Ugh. More bad press from today's (8/4/15) ABJ. http://www.ohio.com/news/local/university-of-akron-s-hiring-of-trust-navigator-to-help-with-student-success-stirs-concern-1.613140
  21. ^^Okay, good! I'm glad I was reading too much into just a couple comments. And LZip, you're right, when I went back to quote the comments which led me to think the team wasn't getting along as well, there really weren't many at all. Here are the quotes that had me a little concerned: GoZips wrote: "It is a team of brothers; not a team of others. Love one another and end the squabbling." GoZips is pretty close to the program, so that sentence made these next two stand out to me: Clark Griswold wrote: "The biggest threat is the common attitude of today's college athlete." As I read that again, Clark's obviously not specifically referring to this year's Zips team chemistry. And then taxpayer wrote: "Zips - discipline. To reach their potential the Zips need to share the ball better and live for we not me." I just over reacted. I think I've just grown accustomed to nothing but bad news over the last month. Lol.
  22. So, by the tone of a few posts, it sounds as if this year's team is not getting along as well as last year's. Anyone care to elaborate a bit?
  23. Per VerbalCommits.com http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/ricardo-hill-jr Good luck, Ricardo! Best wishes.
  24. http://www.ohio.com/news/local/bob-dyer-university-of-akron-demise-is-sad-to-watch-1.612721 Bob Dyer from today's ABJ. Ouch.
  25. How about another player profile? This board & Zips fans need a bit of good news.
