  1. Zips haven't offered yet, but a player that looks like we should keep an eye on is Elijah Macon of Columbus Marion Franklin and who's AAU team is All-Ohio Red. Elijah is a 6-7, 200 lb. PF whom Rivals gives 4-stars and ranks as the #12 PF in the nation. He's only received a single offer thus far, from USC, so grades must be an issue? Here is Elijah Macon's Rivals.com bio.
  2. Good call, Yaznasty.
  3. Here is a link to some LeBron animated series thingy. It was just released on youtube a couple hours ago. It's already had about 41,500 views. Akron gets mentioned in the title song & then again @ the end. For a kids cartoon (it's no Family Guy or American Dad) it's pretty darn good! The LeBrons
  4. From today's ABJ (5/6/11) concerning Spring Ball.
  5. Considering our lack of depth at RB, I keep thinking that Rossi has a legitimate chance of coming in & starting @ RB as a true frosh. A hard-nosed, 6-0, 230 RB might look real nice lined up in the backfield.
  6. Offense/Defense 1st String OFFENSE QB — Patrick Nicely TB — Broderick Alexander FB — Austin Bailey WR — Antoine Russell WR — Keith Sconiers WR — Marquelo Suel TE — Richard Hall RT — Jake Anderson RG — Zac Kasparek C — Adam Bice LG — Pat McCloskey LT — Mitch Straight DEFENSE DE — Hasan Hazime DT — Dan Marcoux DT — Oren Wilson DE — Nico Caponi MLB — Brian Wagner OLB — Matt Little OLB — Troy Gilmer CB — Manley Waller CB — Emmanuel Lartey S — Josh Richmond S — L.T. 7. Good news. The Akron area is a true high school softball hotbed. We should be a national power in that sport.
  8. ABJ article by Michael Beaven w/ updates on Teal Bunbury, Darlington Nagbe & others.
  9. $1.2 million annually?!?! Good grief, where does VCU get that kind of money? Say, hypothetically, KD gets the Zips to the Final Four two years in a row, ala Brad Stevens. Is there any possible way UA could offer that kind of money?
  10. I'd say Zeke's clip ran a good two seconds - which is actually a pretty long time for that montage.
  11. He got an 8-year extension. I'm not sure how much it is for. But this is good for mid-major basketball. Brad Stevens also seems very happy/content @ Butler. Mark Few @ Gonzaga. Good stuff. I guess these guys are the types of guys who realize $$$ isn't everything?
  12. Look at the muscle Copley's Delone Carter (Syracuse) has packed on! This picture is from the ABJ.
  13. Who was that offer from?
  14. I don't, actually. To what area(s) are you referring? Baseball?
  15. Great gallery here
  16. I'm intrigued w/ Larry. He's listed @ 6'7", but his dad was 6'10". He may grow another couple inches yet. Tomorrow night is the Summit -vs- Stark Boys All-Star Basketball Game. It's @ 7:00 @ Walsh University. If anyone is able, go check Larry out & report back! I enjoy that game every year but I'm unable to make it tomorrow. It's usually not much of a game as Summit usually blows Stark out, but it's still usually a lot of fun just watching the best players in the area. I'm sure you'll also get to see BGSU recruit JaVon what's-his-name (Clarke?) from Timken. Oh, I'm also pretty sure you'll get to see Firestone's Darius Carter.
  17. No, no, no, Cap'n, you have it all wrong ... !!!! Tressel's a LYINGweasel. Both of you are wrong. He is a lying, cheating, phony weasel. Yeah? Well now he's rumored to be a lying, cheating, phony, UNEMPLOYED weasel. Link? I can't link to a radio show, unfortunately. ESPN 97.5 in Philadelphia reported it. Wow! Thanks anyhow!
  18. Link?
  19. Did anyone catch ZipsLive last night? If so, what did Tom Lemming (sp?) have to say? Thanks in advance!
  20. Absolutely. Andy was great. It's really a shame he was hampered physically. Dan Hipsher's players ended up hating him. Again, another shame. It was painful for me to witness. And to think of the potential those Jimmal Ball, Jamie Bosley, Ryan Andrick, George Phillips teams had. All under-achieved - almost to the point of quiting. They seemed so anxious to just get away from Hipsher. KD really seemed like a desperation hire for D-Hip. He needed a spark. KD gave the program a spark by signing Dru & Rome & Jeremiah Wood, but it was too little too late. KD wasn't gunning for D-Hip's job. He was simply happy to be back in the college ranks. Though, when the inevitable finally happened and D-Hip was let go, we all knew the perfect heir apparent was already on staff. Gotta love KD. First-class act.
  21. My favorite post on this subject was posted in one of the other recent threads regarding this topic. I forget who posted it, but it went something like, "Maybe... just maybe... we shouldn't care about this at all?"
  22. It's crazy to think, but a single tweet from 'Bron is probably worth more pub than our regionally televised Super Bowl commercials. Whatever it takes to keep Akron blipping on the nation's radar.
  23. They don't use that facility for basketball. They play their basketball games at Carver Arena which seats around 11,500. Ahh, well that capacity is what I was expecting. Well, what did they build that new $50-million facility for?
  24. Video Tour of Bradley's new arena. Gorgeous, $50-million facility. Only seats 4,200. I was a bit surprised by that. As far as a renovation goes, maybe that gives the JAR's capacity some perspective?
